Starting point is 00:00:00 The ZM Podcast Network. Fleshborn and Hayley's Little Bit of Pod. Treat yourself to McCafe coffee with my Macca's rewards. Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod. Guys, I am visiting, this is the first time I've ever visited one of these, a neurologist. Is that a brain person? Brain person. Okay.
Starting point is 00:00:21 Now it sounds scary, but it's not. Is this because you're a bit... But you know I've harped on special, so special. in. Okay. Now it sounds scary but it's not. Is this because you're a bit... Special so special I gotta have some of your attention give it to me!
Starting point is 00:00:36 No, you know I've harped on for about two and a half years now but my leg tingle. Oh yeah. And I've been seeing Dr. Wynn show acupuncturist and it's been great but anytime I don't go the tingle's still there. So this is around your
Starting point is 00:00:51 knee? On the inside of my knee. It's not sciatica. Yeah. If you listen to this and text me sciatica. It's not sciatica. What is sciatica? Nerve damage down the other side. Oh okay. It can come from your back or your hip and all that shit. Have you asked Dr. Shawnee when we've been drinking for his opinion?
Starting point is 00:01:08 Yeah, he gave me a map on what he thought it could be. But it's nerve damage, basically. And for nerve damage, you've got to go see a neurologist. And so that's why you're going. Do you know how much it is for like, probably like a 15-minute consult? $700. And did you have to be referred? Had to be referred.
Starting point is 00:01:27 So then yeah, chuck the $70 doctor fee on top of that. And this has probably been what, like three months wait? Oh, longer than that. Four months wait. And also,
Starting point is 00:01:36 I didn't think that insurance was going to cover it, but I just got my pre-approval yesterday. Oh, lovely. Always lovely to hear from them. Oh my God, just in time as well. I mean, that's, it's so expensive. And this isn't even like that we're going to do anything. We lovely to hear from them. Oh my God, just in time as well. I mean, it's so expensive.
Starting point is 00:01:47 And this isn't even like that we're going to do anything. We're just going to chat. Yeah. We're going to chat about what's up. Do you reckon he'll use that little hammer on your knee and be like, boop? Yeah, probably. Fun. Do you reckon he'll put electrodes on your head and like electric shock you or do some kind of test?
Starting point is 00:02:02 Yes. This is what they say the test is, which will probably be the next step, which is they put thingies on your feet and they'll send shocks through your feet into your leg. Like those little massaging pads you buy online, those massage machines.
Starting point is 00:02:17 Yeah, that I've got with the little zippy zappies. And I'll try to find which nerve is busted. And then what do they find which nerve is busted and plan up. And then what do they do? Like, can they repair the nerve? Well, Dr. Wynn, who is my acupuncturist, who, you know, favors Eastern medicine, even though he has a PhD in Western medicine, he was like, only surgery.
Starting point is 00:02:40 They'll only do surgery, right? Where they'll either like nip off or tie up or whatever the nerve, which he's very against. So now I'm east versus west at the moment. Seriously, go into surgery and they'll just be like, cut it. Just get rid of it. And then what? But then you'd have a numb part? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:56 I'd rather that, though. You'd rather have a numb part that you don't notice than tingling. But it must be weird because, you know, like sometimes you'll fall asleep on your hand or you'll be in bed on your phone and your hand will start going numb. Yes.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Imagine that feeling. But it will only be in a little bit of it. Yeah. Well I hope so. Hope so. Oh my God. What if it's all of your toes?
Starting point is 00:03:18 Yeah I don't know. Anyway it's kind of interesting because I was like oh neurologists they're brain people. Yeah. Those are smarty parties. Maybe we'll get them to have a little looky in there
Starting point is 00:03:27 and have a little rattle around. What else is happening in the brain? A little bit of a poke and a prod. Yeah, poke and a prod. You know, like go through the ear. You come out and you completely understand that German song. Because they're just poking your brain until you speak German. Until I speak German.
Starting point is 00:03:44 That's how it works. Or you could come out speaking a whole other language. What about those people that have the accent? They wake up from a mini stroke and they've suddenly got an accent. Now, do you know what's terrible? Remember that Australian woman who came out with a very poor... Jamaican? No.
Starting point is 00:03:59 Chinese? Chinese accent. Oh, yeah. She said the word crushed as crush-a-da. Yeah. And it was not based on any actual accent. It's from what She said the word crushed as crush-a-duh. Yeah. And it was, like, not based on any actual accent. It's from, like, what she thinks. It was so bad.
Starting point is 00:04:10 It was so bad. Or was it just, like, because. Oh, yes. And we looked into the safe. Yeah, it's not the accent. It's just your brain can't find. And it just happens the speech impediment that she got isn't, like, a lisp or a glide or anything. It's a different speech impediment that sounds
Starting point is 00:04:25 like an accent there's a woman who had an irish accent but it was just like different little things yeah yeah sound irish basically uh when you meet someone with an accent it's just what you say back to them yeah you are so bad at that i'm so bad at it i did it again the other day to someone and that yeah i've got to stop doing that because i'm really gonna get myself into trouble maybe put that on your list of things to ask the neurologist about why can i know why am i like this i think that's the big question why am i like this
