Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod.
Now, I hate when people do this,
but I did it earlier and then I got called out.
Yeah, but you didn't put it on Facebook.
You just said it.
No.
I think saying it is fine.
I said, oh, it's my pop's birthday today
and then Fletch was like oh how old would he have been 196 because we do laugh when people say
yeah oh my god my great-great-grandmother would have been 240th heavenly birthday
should have been 261 today she's been in heaven longer than she was on earth. Yeah, old people who died once are older now if they hadn't died.
They don't keep getting older.
It was my pop's birthday today.
Well, was.
He's dead.
He's gone.
Yeah.
But yeah, and then we were laughing about people that,
how far back do you go?
Oh, my God.
My first ancestors whose land this is It's their birthday today
They would have been
407
Today
But sadly their life was cut short
By just the life cycle
By getting old
And dying
Lack of any medical care
Any kind of science
How long have you guys been without grandparents?
I've still got one.
Oh, that's right.
Marlene's still alive and kicking.
Wow.
And just got a new TV.
Now, how is she handling it?
She's got a 55-inch.
How is she handling that?
Not well at all.
No.
She bumped a button the other day.
Stuck to everything.
And she said to Mum, I bumped a button.
And Mum said, call Vaughan, because this is, my granddad just used to call me and be like,
all right, I've done something.
And I'd just be on the phone, no idea, blankly trying to get him to try his HDMI.
What button had she pressed?
Well, she never called me.
Oh, really?
Uncle Murray went and sorted it, I believe.
Oh, that's good.
Uncle Murray.
Yeah, Uncle Murray's nearby.
Did she get the same, did she always have a flat screen smart TV or no?
No, her last, and she's gone up in size, but she didn't want to go too big
because she wanted to keep the TV in the corner.
Oh my God.
Old people love a TV in the corner.
You know why?
She's got a corner unit.
You know why?
It's because the corner for a big boxy TV back in the day
was the best place for it.
Yeah, because the ass would go into the corner.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, totally.
And then they just got used to it.
Yeah.
But she's gone to a 55.
Yep.
I think her last one was like
42 or 30. She won't know.
She used to have a 32, her first flat screen.
God. What's next? A 65?
If you get to 90 and you're
buying one last TV,
fuck it. Yeah. Go as big as you can.
Shit, you're getting paid $500.
She'd spend all that money. Yeah.
That's the best. Do it. And then when
she passes, we can all argue over
Who's getting the monstrosity
Of the 120 inch
Samsung television
Oh yeah
Yeah
But no I don't do
I often think of them
On their birthdays
I'll be like
Oh cause my nana's birthday
If she was still alive
13th of October
So that's coming up
I think of them
On their birthdays
But I've never been so bold
As to post their
Yeah
Heavenly birthday
Their heavenly birthday heavenly birthday
yes it's just not yeah yeah not my vibe well happy birthday to my pop who today would have been 94
and instead he's um because not yeah did you post anything on facebook when he did pass
i think so right because when my granddad, whose name was Alan,
but everyone called him AC
because it's Alan Charles Holmes.
When he died,
I just put as a Facebook status,
peace out, AC.
So many people messaged me going,
is your air conditioning broken?
No, just my heart.
No, my heart's broken.
Oh, I'm just trying to look back.
It was during lockdowns.
He had one of those, you know. Oh, was it during lockdown?
He didn't get a funeral.
Yeah, we were doing
HYBPA. No one could be
there. Aaron went up?
Aaron went up.
Because I was filming things. So how old would he be
today? 94.
Born in September 1930.
Crazy, eh? What a time.
What a time to be alive. No, he would have been too young for World War II. No, he didn't go to the wars. Crazy, eh? What a time. What a time to be alive.
No, he would have been too young for World War II, of course.
No, he didn't go to the wars.
Man, all the things you...
Like, if he was still alive now,
the change that he's seen in his lifetime...
I know.
...would be insane.
I know.
I said that about my nan.
Yeah.
Like, everything's changed.
Everything.
Everything.
Everything.
I sort of feel like, you know,
when you think about people who have passed, and you're like, oh, you know, you think about people who have passed
and you're like, oh, you know,
they didn't do that COVID thing.
I mean, imagine my marching coach died
and I'm always like, man,
she would have fucking hated that.
Getting locked up and told what to do.
Oh, lockdown.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, old people did hate it.
No, I didn't do a post.
What a dick.
No, that's okay.
Oh, no, I did.
Yeah.
Yeah, I did. Did you make it about yourself? No, I did a photo of him. What a dick. No, that's okay. Oh, no, I did. Yeah. Yeah, I did.
Did you make it about yourself?
No, I did a photo of him with all of his kids and his wife.
Oh, that's nice.
And then him on his 90th with a big smile at the pub that he wallpapered as a young man
and it's still got his wallpaper on it.
That says two things about that pub.
What?
They did it right the first time.
Did it right the first time, yeah.
They did it right the first time and they're too cheap to pay to do it.
Yes, no money to redo the pub.
No money.
No money.
