Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to One-on-One with D.P. Sponsored by Mary Ellen's Food for the Soul on 937 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com. Hey. Hey. Hey, hey, everybody. I have something to let you in on. Not that. I can't.
Starting point is 00:00:29 I like him too much. No, not that. Yeah. Yeah. Not that. 402. I need all of your participation. 402, 464, 56685.
Starting point is 00:00:39 Honda Liggin Hotline, Sartner, Heyman TechSign. College Football, Fox College Football, released a graphic of the top 25 college football brand rankings as surveyed as told by 1,000 high school football players. So official visit, a place that does college and coach reviews from current and former athletes surveyed 1,000 high school football players on brand strength of college football programs
Starting point is 00:01:17 and they released a top 25 of those answers. Where do you think Nebraska falls on this list? That is my question to all of them. We will answer it in the 11 o'clock hour because guess what? It's me. Because Nick is the captain. I'm the captain.
Starting point is 00:01:36 I'm telling you again. And don't cheat. and go look this up. I need your honest opinion right now. 402, 464-5685. 1 to 25. 1 to 25. Where does Nebraska sit, you know, in, in terms of brand rankings, according to 1,000 high school football players. No, I don't know where the football players are from. No, I don't know, you know, if they're freshmen or seniors or whatever. I just know that they're 1,000 high school football players. High school football players. Currently.
Starting point is 00:02:08 Current. Okay, let's see. Dusty. I'm not going to say the numbers. I'm just going to let you know if you're wrong or not. Dusty, you're wrong. Tater says kids these days don't know who the Huskers really are. Dusty, your guess is actually correct.
Starting point is 00:02:28 Scott, you're wrong. Willie, you're wrong. Stan, you're right. Crow bait, you're wrong. Shock dog. Nope, where Shockdog go? You're wrong. and then you're right.
Starting point is 00:02:40 Ooh, shock dog. Shockdog, you're wrong. That's a cool name, bro. You're wrong and then you're right. We don't get to see shock dogs very often. Unnamed texter. Interesting that you say that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Kent, you're wrong. Downtown Scott, you're wrong. Downtown Scott, I love the energy. Unnamed Texer, love the energy. Love the energy. You're wrong. Yeah, yeah, you're wrong. Tater, you're wrong.
Starting point is 00:03:04 Hey, Willie, you're right. I love that. This is great radio. Wrong. Wrong, right, wrong. I love the energy. Go big red. Yeah, shock dog.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Yeah, yeah. Go shockers, baby. Should we just spill the beans? Ryan, you're wrong. Kent, you're wrong. Crow bait, you're wrong. Yeah, I think we should. Nebraska, in terms of brand rankings,
Starting point is 00:03:25 according to 1,000 high school football players, falls at number unranked. They're out of the top 25. They are not in the top 25, according to 1,000 high school football players, according to college football brand rankings. They are behind teams, such as, I'm just going to go from 25 to 1. They are behind teams like South Carolina, Maryland, Mississippi State, Michigan State, Auburn, UCLA, USC, Tennessee, Florida State, Michigan, O'Brien, O'N, U.S.C., Tennessee, Florida State, Michigan, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Penn State,
Starting point is 00:04:07 Notre Dame, Florida, Miami, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, and your top five, Clemson, Oklahoma, Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama. Let me just read you number 20. Nebraska is behind South Carolina, Maryland, Mississippi State. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Man, I don't know how I feel about that. I understand it's currently because what I sit in the break here, Rico, was there's no way that North Carolina and Ole Miss have a better brand than Tennessee.
Starting point is 00:04:42 But you did say it's currently. Now, Tennessee's interesting. Tennessee's a lot like Nebraska recently. Ole Miss has a sexy factor to them because they have Lane Kiffin. And Matt Karel. Like, Matt Karel was fun to watch. He had swag and he was successful and, you know, it is what it is. But. Ryan, it was a misleading question.
Starting point is 00:05:04 That was the point. Yeah, exactly. Be better. Be better, Ryan. Okay, so let's go through. Does Penn State have a better brand than Nebraska? Currently, yes. I'm just going, if you're going currently, and this unnamed text, your guy, hits it on the head.
Starting point is 00:05:26 All these schools have had way more famous players come from them in the last five years than anyone from Nebraska. Maryland? Who's come out of Maryland? I mean, like, they have a five-star receiver right now. now in Rakeem Jarrett, they have Tongue of Iowa. Name one other player. Is that why they're 24? Because they have Tongue Viloa? Like, is South Carolina 25th if Spencer Rattler is not there? South Carolina had Judevian Clowny.
Starting point is 00:05:51 That was more than five years. They had, they had Mike Davis a couple years ago. They had Sammy Coat. No, not Sammy Coates was from Auburn. They had somebody else that was on a wide receiver out there. Okay, so like South Carolina, though, if you think about it since like 2010 has played in a lot of Capital One Bulls. Yes. Nebraska played them in like a lot of Capital One Bulls as well. Mississippi State? Like the one year with Dak Prescott made him a, I don't know, man. Like in the last five years, who's Nebraska's highest drafted player?
Starting point is 00:06:28 It would be the last two. It would be the last two. Yeah. Cam Durg's and Cam Taylor Britt. And guess what? Oh, actually, I have a thing on this. That's a center. and a corner who went to Cincinnati. Like, I can't, there's nothing against Cam Taylor. Hey, Cam Taylor Britt is playing well right now. He is. Nothing to take away from Cam Taylor Britt, and also nothing to take away from Cam Jurgens. But like, a center is your highest drafted player in the last five years.
Starting point is 00:06:53 You want to be known as offensive line, you? Do you? I think so. Like, that would be something Nebraska fans would be okay with it. If Nebraska would win the line of scrimmage every single time, Stefan Diggs and DJ Moore both went to Maryland. Stamon Diggs is more than five years ago. DJ Moore, I'll give you that one.
Starting point is 00:07:11 Yeah, I forgot about those guys. People forget about Stefan Diggs and Maryland. Because if you're going high school players, yeah, five years is probably like a good barometer for a college team that you're actually paying attention to. Okay, so this is interesting here. So in 2019, Nebraska had zero draft picks. And this is why that texter kind of nails it on the head.
Starting point is 00:07:31 Nebraska in 2019 under Scott Frost Had zero draft picks in 2020 They had two Khalil Davis went in the sixth round And Carlos Davis went in the seventh round Nope In 2021 they had two Brendan Hymas went in the fifth round
Starting point is 00:07:45 And Farniok went in the seventh round And then this last year they had Three Cam Juergens and Britt Cam Taylor Britt went in the second round Nine picks apart And Samari 2 Ray went in the seventh round Making a name for himself up at Green Base Camps So get this
Starting point is 00:08:00 In the last 10 years they have not had single first round pick. Yeah, kind of hard to build a brand. They've had six second round picks. Kind of hard to build a brand that way. So Nebraska not being in the top 25. Maybe we talked ourselves out of it. Not really.
Starting point is 00:08:17 I still think they have a better brand in South Carolina. I agree. I think Nebraska should be in the top 25. Like, when it comes to recognition, like uniform name recognition, Nebraska should never not be in the top 25. Oh, trucker rob. I mean, this makes a really good point.
Starting point is 00:08:35 And I love having this conversation about recruiting. Oh, Rico. I got it. Don't worry, I'll fix it. You didn't put it out in there. I got it. You put the back end. I got it.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Did we, oh, oh, I got to take four. I got to take four in the 11 o'clock. That's fine. So I always love having this conversation because just the different opinions in this where it's recruiting and. whether or not Nebraska should be looked at as a top-notch program.
Starting point is 00:09:09 I really enjoy it because the different opinions are on opposite sides of the spectrum, basically. And we'll continue this in the 11 o'clock hour. Once again, Vreshawn Jackson, not here today. So I'll be hanging out with you guys. But Dusty asses this football only. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:09:28 Yes, just football. Yep. Yeah, it doesn't tell me what area of the country. It doesn't tell me. It just tells me that it's a thousand of high school football players. But we'll have that recruiting conversation because Nebraska is in a tough place right now where they have to get over this hump of losing, right? Because Chuck and Rob points this out. Last time these kids were in grade school was the last time Nebraska was in a bowl game.
