The stories, the release says Virginia Tech has received a historic $75 million donation with the majority directed towards athletics.

The record donation made anonymously by a four-generation Virginia Tech family is set to go towards multiple initiatives, including the fundraising portion of the recently approved $229 million investment in athletics over the next four years. In addition, the donation includes unrestricted funds to be used at the discretion of the athletic director and additional support through Hokie Ventures, a nonprofit corporation approved earlier this week, as a way for Virginia Tech to support revenue generation and strategic investment.

Virginia Tech has made a priority to boost its investment in support of football, including the hire of James Franklin last November. In December, Virginia Tech received another anonymous donation of $20 billion towards athletics, which has been its largest until this one. The Hokies have not won 10 games in a season since 2016 and have increased its investment to try and get its football program back to national prominence doing a repeatedly challenging time in collegiate athletics. Football is the front porch of the university,

and sustained investment is critical to competing for championships at the highest level. That is a statement from new coach James Franklin. This generosity provides the resources, necessary to recruit, develop, and support elite student athletes while positioning Virginia Tech football for its long-term success. Obviously, everyone wants to see what he can do this. Yeah, it's going to be fascinating. But overall, in his long haul, that's definitely going to help. Hey, bro, listen to me. If, hey, whatever, whatever school you're an alumni of, hey, did your coaches last, did your last coaching hire bring $95 million in donations? Hey, let me say this again, louder for the people in the back that the hiring of James Franklin has accumulated $95 million in, donations. Hey, this isn't just, hey, sponsorship. This isn't partnership. This is a donation.

Hey, man. How many four generation Nebraska families are there with an extra $75 million? What are we doing? Just thought of sure that was going to go to Brent Pry. I don't know if they were going to get that donation. And listen, if Virginia Tech says we want to get. get back to prominence and that football is the front porch. That's a fine. This is James Franklin. This is James Franklin. Somebody needs to mean this thing, right? They need to make a real of Matt Damon as James Franklin sitting in the diner, right? Well, I got 95 million. How do you like them apples? Spent many. And I mean many nights in Blacksburg, Virginia. And at Lane Stadium. And while it is a wonderful. almost epic game presentation. It is a wonderful football environment,

a great place to be, and wonderful to be a hokey. It's not 95 million good currently. And they said they haven't been good since 2016. They haven't won 10 games since 2016. And that their football program is the front porch of the university. Bach, does that sound like anybody we know? Certainly does.

Where's our 95 million? Like, they said this. They said this simply as they can say it. Yeah. We're Virginia Tech. We're not, we're not Texas. Texas A&M. Georgia.

We're not even Indiana. They're certainly not Nebraska, right? Virginia Tech has been in. one national championship game. One. One. Didn't win it. Didn't win it.

Didn't win it. But football is the front porch of the university. Bach, when I say that to pull back the curtain on the Wizard of Oz for all of this collegiate athletics and the business.

But my goodness, grace is kind, sir. do we think that this is the first time this has happened? Buck, do you think this is that prior to this, prior to revenue share, prior to NIL, do you think that this is the first time these donations ever happened? I would say like this size maybe. Right? Like what are we doing?

Like this kind of stuff has always happened. There's always been bag man. There's always been money. Yeah. Like the lie has been. we don't have the money to put into this sort of thing. We just don't have the money. And here's the challenge for me.

This is where I need to throw hands it goes. Are you telling me that Virginia Tech alumni have more money than everybody else? But is that the statement that we're making? Bach, is that the statement that we're making? Well, that's what I want to know. Is this one, they just said one, it's one donation. Is that one guy? One donation for 75 million.

Another donation for 20 million. One donation for 75 million after somebody anonymously donated $20 million. In Blacksburg, Virginia, these are the foothill mountains of Appalachia. What are we talking about? Hey, by the way, that's an ag school. That's a farming school, Bach. What is the people that need to take this as a, as a Sean Michael's boot to the chin.

Are you telling me that the alumni and Virginia Tech are more well-off and more supportive than every other power for in the country? If you're Florida State, if you're in the ACC and you're Clemson and Florida State, Miami, aren't you feeling some kind of way this morning? I would think so. Aren't you feeling some kind of way?

And listen, not for nothing, but Virginia Tech wrestling is really starting to pick the pockets of some of the heavyweights. The James Green left Nebraska to go coach at Virginia Tech in wrestling. That's a Husker Husker. And by the way, the top recruits in the country in wrestling went to Virginia Tech, not Penn State, not Nebraska, not Oklahoma State, and went to Virginia Tech. The Bassett family went to Virginia Tech. And I couldn't understand why.

But guess what? Somebody knew something. Somebody knew something. If you're telling me now that Virginia Tech is now, hey, Bach, it's Virginia Tech and SMU. Bach. Bach. $55. And this is a four-year deal.

This is four years. Hey, here's some money. Here's some change. there's some cash. And are you telling me, are you telling me that Virginia Tech is more fluent, more fiscally sound and fiscally responsible, and now fiscally successful than any other school in the country?

Is that what we're doing? Because I haven't heard of anybody else with $95 million an anonymous donation for athletic. Tax line, let me know if I'm wrong. Is there anybody else that has had this kind of donation? Bach, are you familiar with any? Trying to think there was a huge one. Was it Michigan State?

I was trying to think who else got one. And it's just, it's not always the names that you, that you would think of. Let me go back and see there. Well, we're going to go to break. that the folks in Charlottesville, Virginia, Thomas Jefferson's University, the old epic head of the class university, the elite, hey, we have more money than you folks outside of the Ivy League as possible.
