What's up, Deep? I'd just like to shout out my fellow postal workers and package delivery people, FedEx, UPS, Amazon, etc.
Starting point is 00:02:35 We'll be working 10 plus hours a day this week and who have been working 10 plus hours this season delivering smiles to people this Christmas. And also thanks to the ticket crew for keeping us entertained all day at work. No, Cups here, thank you. Thank you, kind of, sir. It is that deadline time.
Starting point is 00:02:54 You know, here's a thing that can be done. and could be considered, is if you buy local shipping, take some of the burden off of these delivery guests, buy local, go get yourself to these local stores and these local businesses, your friends and family, get out there and buy from them. It's gift in hand. We've lost the concept of gift in hand.
Starting point is 00:03:23 To walk into a store, see something, purchase it, and then find your way. go home rapid or not wrap it and whatever you're going to do with it. There's several different ways to do it. I mean, coffee. Look, go to a mill, and buy your favorite person a bag of their favorite brew.
Starting point is 00:03:42 Go to be at the benched bakery. You can walk in and get dessert cakes and you can go to the rally house and you can walk out with Husker gear. You can go to she. Like there are places you can go. You can go in for any of your favorite restaurants. Your people's
Starting point is 00:03:57 favorite restaurants they all offer gift cards now right some of those are digital so you can print them right away put them in a card and off you go or go to the store and actually show that you spent time going to the store and get them a gift card i mean a lot of our restaurant friends um you know valentino certainly does gift cards tipsy tinas does just gift cards so buying local is It's not only just a mantra, it's actually functional. Now, if you've got somebody that's not near you, then, yeah, you've got to get to work. But here's the thing. Same thing applies is that you can actually send them a gift card to the place that they would like to shop.
Starting point is 00:04:46 Just let them make the choice. You've done your job in honoring them and saying, I know what you enjoy, but I'd rather have you pick it. because that's usually the case. You know, and if you talk about kids, I mean, the store stores and stores, there are craft stores all over Lincoln or wherever you are. Bacher, what percentage are you done with your Christmas shop? Well, I've been attacking it throughout the, throughout the month.
Starting point is 00:05:15 You know, maybe got out maybe three times now. I think I'm about 98% done. Maybe I have one or two more presents to get, but yeah, feel pretty good about it now. The only thing that scared me again, I needed a reminder why I don't go on Ferris wheel. So we went to Shields for a gift and my son wanted to go on the Ferris wheel. Got to the top and said, why am I here? Why? Why? Why are we that way?
Starting point is 00:05:43 Oh, scary, frightening. Yeah, top of Ferris will is not my jam. That is not, that's just, it's just not my jam. No. At least it's inside. If there's wind, I mean, but those are, things you know you've barely moved and it started rocking i just i can't do it i'm back listen i have been loud and profoundly consistent in my feet my my fear rights and it's humbling sometimes because it it often requires that you that you you you receive help um we were when we were at USC or UCLA and to get to the to the media area in the Rose Bowl you have to go up to the
Starting point is 00:06:29 fifth floor six floor and then you walk around this this this corner you go up to this escalator and you go around the corner but it's probably from your desk here at the station to the mill to where Luke is but you're outside and your six floors up and it curves oh that that hey hey hey hey hey you said a thing man you said a thing you just because that oh that that that was me and I'm trying and there's no the only way I was going to make it was if I stared at the wall and put my hand up to block the peripheral because it literally looks like you're walking on air and there was there's two workers right stadium workers and I'm trying to to figure it like literally Bach I get to it and my palm sweats like it's July it is pouring sweat and I'm trying to
Starting point is 00:07:43 gather myself and trying to figure out okay how am I going to talk to myself through this you know maybe if I look down at the ground, maybe I look, if I look, there was a wall, right? There's a wall to my left, but to my right, it's sky. It's just sky. Bach, man. And, and let me tell you, this brother was, this brother was standing and he, he could see it. Like, because I was noticeably uncomfortable. And finally, he just goes, you good, bro? And I'm like, nope. Nope. Nope. Nope, not, not even close. Not even close. And then it was, it was, it was,
Starting point is 00:08:28 he said it happens, it happens more than you think. And he made a call. And he was like, yeah, tell him to come see me down here and went down. They, they were cool with me being on the field the whole game. I was like, thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Oh, man. Yeah, Bach. Yeah, I'm bad, man. I'm not bad at airplanes. Yeah. I can do the window. I'm the short, it's weird. Like, sometimes I can be really high up and in a safe place and feel good. But there's sometimes like those people, the places with outdoor elevators. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:09 Oh, why? Why? What would you do? See, for me, it's not height so bad. It's just the fact that I can't control it. I can't move. so and then it's you know i'm not in a stable condition it's it's just ferris wheels it's just fair i don't have a problem with no it's it's it's i can roller coasters yeah i'm good with yeah strapped in the make sure you're not getting out of those right like like i'm i'm good there are people that don't like speed and turning yeah being upside down all that stuff but if it drops if if the feeling that i'm going to fall and my equilibrium in my brain there's something in my brain that sets me out and it's a whole thing so you know well at least you made it through yeah yeah i don't think i'll do it again yeah lessons learned uh comes she says gift cards always get a bad rap
Starting point is 00:10:01 unfortunately yeah i'm i'm i'm fantastically in that pool that i think it's there um eric says uh what's a d p a buck i made the terrible mistake of going to sams and walmart yesterday it was a bloodbath yeah it's it's that time like you're you're you know It's crunch time now. And you can't make mistakes in your time consumption. Like you can't go, okay, well, I need to hit these three stores. I need to hit it within two hours. Ah, bro, man.
Starting point is 00:10:30 The rest of the people don't care nothing about your clock. They don't particularly care. Bill and Benna says he finished Christmas shopping. I was starting to get brutal in the store. Yeah, I can't imagine that it wouldn't be. Like, I can't, I can't imagine. Big tie says, I like to do more Royal Coast indoor than outdoors. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:10:52 there are those people. They're those people. I'm just no. No. It really is there's just something that it's in my head. You know, cigar guy says, I'm on my way to Costco
Starting point is 00:11:08 pray for me. We got you, bro. We got you covered. We got you covered. We got you got. Prayer sent. Prayer sent. You know. You're going to Costco, man. Have them people deliver. Cupskers out there, him and his brothers, they got you covered. You know, TVV said, I'm glad I'm not alone.
Starting point is 00:11:33 I can't even watch a trailer for the movie fall without getting anxious and knots and stomach. Yeah, there's certain movies that are that way. You know, it's a thing. It's a thing. And I try to be cool, but I don't have cool points. I lost cool points with my grandson because he's a roller coaster kid. And he likes the ones that drop, you know, those ones where you stand in it,
Starting point is 00:11:57 they strapped you in, but you stand in it. Oh, yeah, yeah. Oh, no. Oh, no. Tell me what we ain't going to do. Dingling your lives over there. Tell me what we ain't going to do. And I said ain't.
Starting point is 00:12:10 Like, this is what we ain't going to do. Listen, I have paid many, many dues young man this is not one this is not part of the deal uh Texas says most of the gifts used on the marketplace
Starting point is 00:12:27 yeah I here's the thing it's knowing your people and somebody said that to me that they had a gift for me but they didn't want me to be offended because it was used and I said no you like if you
Starting point is 00:12:40 I am a member of the club and this this agitates some people that there is no bad gift. I'm a member of that club. That if somebody's thoughtful enough to consider me and whatever they could do, because I don't know their situation all the time, right? I don't know whether they have money.
Starting point is 00:13:03 I don't know. I don't know how much time they have. I don't know. But if they simply are thoughtful enough to think of me and gifting is love. Gifting is love. And so if somebody's willing to do, I think they, that it was a hoodie. And it was a fantastic hoodie.
Starting point is 00:13:23 And I was like, yeah, I'm cool. As long as somebody that, you know, the original old don't come looking for it. You know, like if they're not going to be, you know, they see me walking down the street and go, hey. What are you doing with my, what are you doing with my hoodie, bro? As long as it's not that, I mean, you know, and I'm also keen food. I have never received a bad food gift. Even if it's something that I can't eat, I appreciate it. Bach, what's the worst gift you ever got?
Starting point is 00:14:01 Hmm. I don't think I've ever gotten a bad gift that sticks out. I mean, there's some, I don't know. Yeah, I can't even think of one. Yeah, I just, it's simple, right? that if somebody, anybody, like we have people who drop off goodies here to take it. And I'm appreciative for everyone. Think about that.
Starting point is 00:14:24 That somebody listened to us and thought of this station in a positive way and decided they want to leave a positive impact on our day. And I think that for all the sponsors who bring lunch and dinner and meals, like, I'm forever grateful for this. that that's a pretty cool deal uh thomas says he's done with curses shopping he's been done for four months just went to get stuff for chili to make uh for the parents yesterday he said that was pretty bad just going to store i i see i love people who cook for holidays too like i i just think that's fantastic like to make the time and to just put love into into a dish for your people that's pretty cool um
Starting point is 00:15:14 back sometime this week so character's out this week so I'll do 11 to 1 uh Monday Tuesday Wednesday we'll have replay of course we will have football on NFL football on Christmas day
Starting point is 00:15:30 starting at 11 I believe is when Washington and the Cowboys play um maybe noon but there'll be three games that day and we will set some things up on the stream some replays on the stream we will also run replays uh
Starting point is 00:15:48 friday giving people uh some extra time off and then saturday the saturday shows especially the morning shows uh the ones that want to uh broadcast and there will be some other national broadcast stuff going on and then the full lineup back on sunday uh for for those that are will that want to do it We'll do it. Bach, I was just having this conversation with Haas on whether to take Sunday off. What are you doing with nuclear heat? Are you? Well, I mean, I'll probably take a little bit of a hint from WWU.
Starting point is 00:16:26 They're pre-taping as well. And so they're taking some time off. I'll probably take some time. Yeah, I'm okay with people not doing a Sunday show after Christmas. Take the four days. I mean, but a lot of people to do. do Sunday shows, that's their day. They're one day. So
Starting point is 00:16:44 we'll send out and have Harrison, but we'll send out some posts. Of course, we'll have announcements probably Wednesday on the full lineups of everything under there. JC, that is, that is cruel.
Starting point is 00:17:00 That is, that is, that is a gut punch. JC says this. He says, I got a bad check from my uncle when I was a kid. I still give him a hard time. about it. Oh, man. Oh, man. That is, that is painful. That is painful. I can't know how old he was when it got that. That's pretty rough. But I don't know, man. Like in this day, I mean, I guess that can't happen nowadays. Like, is that a plan?
Starting point is 00:17:40 Just go, hey, give me your VIMO. I'll say, yeah. Like, did you do that for Christmas? Can you Venmo? What are your thoughts? Is that, is that like Venmo for Christmas? Yeah, I mean, cash is, and money's money. I mean, sure, why not?
Starting point is 00:17:55 Right. I mean, I think that would be fun. Maybe not as impersonal as it was once perceived. Yeah, because my grandmother would always put cash in these envelopes. They'd be these cards. And it was funny because it would have a little window in the card to let you see that there was money in there and buy. Let me tell you where we were, bro, where you could tell from the open window what dollar bill it was. Oh, nice.
Starting point is 00:18:31 So you didn't always have that, that, that, that respect at an early age. you're looking through it because look man, I need to see some presidents man, yeah like and I need to see a president that I don't normally see like I I don't need them George's man I need I see George
Starting point is 00:18:53 hey man what do we do it well we have a bad year is that is that not very good this year was like terrible what what happened does your little man still believe in Santa? Yeah I just started Good on you. Good on you.
Starting point is 00:19:09 So we had two listeners over the course of the weekend get mad because somebody on air was talking about Santa not being real. Yeah. And I was like, yeah, they go, my kids in the car, man. So we have to be considerate. Yeah, Santa's real, everybody. I don't know why. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:19:29 You imagine being in the car having some radio DJ. Break the news. Disappointment. Just, just, just, Christmas disappointment, courtesy of 93-7, the ticket. Oh, man, what are we doing? Eric says the worst gift ever I got was my uncle
Starting point is 00:19:50 introduced me to the lottery tickets, but I had 120K. So he just, yeah, that's good. Well, no, because that, because you, like, I appreciate the opportunity, like the opportunity to win more cash. But then you just say, okay, I would rather have the $2 you spent on
Starting point is 00:20:08 on the lottery tickets. Just do that, right? Or are you thrilled by the idea that you could win more money? I think lottery tickets are cool, especially for me because I don't, I wouldn't buy them often. Like, I wouldn't do that with my own money. So if you'd give me the chance to do it,
Starting point is 00:20:24 then it's like, oh, yeah, this is a free chance to win. Right, it's a free chance to win. But then he just gave you a piece of, he just gave you a piece of cardboard. But it's the thrill. The thrill. The thrill. He gave you a piece of it. I'm like, oh, great. a cardboard thank you this is our preacher actually listening to santa wasn't real when our kids were
Starting point is 00:20:45 a little preacher oh sir oh no oh church and up into the mall he doesn't see santa in there no oh church do you take did you are you doing son uh santa pictures we do my son although he he's just nervous i mean so he doesn't smile or anything like when he gets to Santa. So, I mean, it is what it is. But we take some pictures. He's never smiled through his first four years. Like, I don't know this guy. What do you want for me, Dad? I don't know this guy. Jeremy says this. Thank you, D.P., for taking the time to give my son Josiah a fist bump in the tunnel walk on Friday night. Yeah, it was, and you're welcome. You know, it's the shout out. and that's kind of the experience.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Got the opportunity to have Bach and Harrison and Farley joined me down at Devaney Center for Friday nights wrestling match against North Carolina. And we went through the tunnel walk, which, but, okay, so now you understand, it's slightly uncomfortable when you realize you're in the tunnel walk. It's definitely an interesting experience because, You know, you're walking through.
Starting point is 00:22:05 You're like, well, I'm not a husker. They won't care. But there's kids out there trying to get your high fives. Right. Like, yeah. Like, you have to go through. And you go, okay, because there's two ways to go through it. Like, just go through it like, hey, this is a business trip.
Starting point is 00:22:18 Or the other side of it is good all the way high. Because, but think about it. Not every, how many people get to do that tunnel walk from the inside of the roads? Not many. Right. So a part of me says, oh, no. Go full. on Ultimate Warrior. Just
Starting point is 00:22:36 goes sprinting. Look, go all the way through. That would have been perfect. That would have been perfect. We had just like fully ultimate warrior our way. So that's when we need to dress up. That's when we need to get. Before a wrestling event. That's what we need to do that.
Starting point is 00:22:53 All right. We got lots to go over in the next 90 minutes. Husker Poops keeps it moving. We'll talk about that. The Husker women's hoops. Keeps it moving. We'll talk about that. Husker wrestling had a one-in-one weekend, but I think some good things happened, even in the loss. There were lessons learned and some things that were accomplished in the match against Oklahoma State. We'll talk about the NFL and where it stands, current situation. And then simplicity, simplicity.
Starting point is 00:23:23 I often say that all things in sports are either coached or allowed. they're either coached or allowed and there's there's an epidemic of bad behavior in sports at a variety of levels and ultimately we bypass it and just go it's a one-off but no there should be no exception to the rule because a rule with an exception is not a rule we have to do better spitting and poking and throwing hands we've lost control so we will talk about that when we come back to one-on-one
