Thursday.
How y'all doing?
It is 1104 in the city that is Lincoln, Nebraska.
402.4.
4, 5, 685, Sartner-Haman text line.
If you want to be a part of what we're doing,
hit us up and come on in.
Come on in.
The water's fine.
Lots to talk about in the space.
You can follow on all the live video streaming,
Facebook, YouTube X,
Allo Channel 961 as well.
Download the ticket app.
It makes programming easier.
You're listening easier.
Lots of ways to handle it, get it on your direction.
devices. Good for you, good for us, greatly appreciated. Uh, kind, sir, back in studio is the one
the only. Bok, kind, sir, how the heck are you? Hey, glad to be back with you. Do you, I will leave it to
you to give folks the update on, on, so on a daily basis. Where's Bach? Where's Bach?
As though like I've captured you and threw you in the cell. It was only throwing down a bucket of lotion.
I will leave it for you to share or not share.
But how's the family?
Yeah, not too bad.
So we had false labor, if you will.
So we're waiting for the arrival of our second son.
And yeah, so that's where I've been the last couple of days.
It's stuck in the hospital.
See if the birth was going to happen.
They, of course, don't want it to have it.
It would be premature.
So they gave her some medicine, my wife's some medicine to keep that at bay.
And it works.
So here we are now awaiting the arrival of my second son.
We'll see it's still not the due date is still a month away.
So it's just between now and then I'm on call.
That's the way we looked at it.
So letting people know, no, I didn't, I didn't make any cuts or firing.
So Bach is home.
He's with his family taking care of the first things first.
And that's the important thing.
Let's see, Bach.
I was trying to figure this out.
A couple of things.
First of all,
tomorrow, tomorrow at 3 o'clock at Haymarket Park.
3 o'clock tomorrow.
BP with DP,
and there's several things in play.
The ability to come down and take batting practice with the team.
In most cases, what's happened in the past is
these fine bats that we have that I'm holding.
For the people who in the past,
I have to confirm with the salt dogs this year.
But the people who take batting practice
with the ticket and the salt dogs
generally leave with a bat.
Ooh.
A wooden bat.
Bach, I'm showing it to people.
This is glorious.
Yes, it is.
This is a beautiful, gorgeous, gorgeous piece of wood.
but you come down and you take batting practice
and then if you decide to take batting practice,
take your swings,
you can check some fly balls if you wish.
And then we will provide you and your family
five tickets for tomorrow's game.
So not bad.
Not bad at all.
And we will come up with a way for you to qualify.
Make yourself available.
and no.
Yeah,
Memon says,
Bach,
we missed you.
The shows aren't
the same without you.
Glad your family as well,
though.
Bill and Benis says,
Advoi Bach family first.
Yeah,
greatly appreciate it.
I appreciate it.
Yeah,
there's an age limit.
We want,
literally for liability purposes,
you should be
over 21,
for liability purposes.
I want anybody out there getting hurt, even with parents overseeing.
Nobody is too old.
21 and open is what I would say.
There's lots going on down at Haymarket.
It is the Salt Dogs Blood Drive.
Also, if you donate blood, tomorrow, you get free tickets.
You get free tickets.
They've partnered with Nebraska.
community blood bank. All donors who sign up for the June 5 drive will receive up to four free
general admission tickets for that night's game. So if you don't want to take batting practice,
but you want to bring the family to the game, you get four tickets versus the Canaries,
thanks to Nebraska Orthopedic Center. The promotions for Friday include
Firework Friday, sponsored by Sand Hills Global, fireworks after the game. Again, bring the family
Donate blood, watch some baseball, watch the fireworks.
Free t-shirt Friday, sponsored by Abonte Marketing.
There would be T-shirts given out.
And then Health and Wellness Night sponsored by Nebraska Orthopedic.
Why should you donate blood?
Our area faces a high demand for blood.
Close to 2,000 donations are needed each day in Nebraska.
For patients who require life-saving blood and or platelet transfusion.
Those in need include cancer patients, accident,
trauma victims, newborn babies, mothers delivering babies, transplant recipients, surgery patients,
chronically transfused patients suffering from sickle cell disease or
caliscemia and more. Donating blood is a selfless act by one person to help save the lives
of others. Blood cannot be manufactured whether you're a regular or first-time donor.
Visiting one of the donor centers of bloodmobiles is a powerful way to make a difference.
So please find your way down to Haymarket Park tomorrow for a variety of reasons, fireworks, donate blood,
or you can take DP, take BP with DP.
And here's the other part of it.
What I will do is in segment two, I will have an open window.
where I will take the first three people
who give me a good reason why they should get to take BP.
Like, did you play? Does your son play? Do you want your kids to see you take hacks?
Are you trying to relive? You're trying to see how you would do on the big stage?
We have quite a few, you know, ballplayers at the station.
I would imagine that Nick Sainert, Rudy Grace, Tristan Gomez,
will take some hacks as well. Those are all baseball players who,
might want to get down there and take some hacks in the big room.
Austin Norman is on vacation so that would not be it.
We're going to broadcast tomorrow from Haymarket Park.
So we'll be in a suite broadcasting old school tomorrow afternoon.
And then tomorrow evening.
So we're going to be down there from three to five, I believe.
And then six o'clock at the station at 11th and O.
Mike Smith and his crew will come in and turn the ticket space, the mill, ticket in mill space into a skate park.
And it's Friday.
So you can come in.
There'll be tons of vendors here.
Some great Husker stuff available to purchase.
Great T-shirts, jackets, et cetera.
Some pretty cool stuff that'll take you through tomorrow evening here at the ticket.
But again, BP with D.P.
and Salt Dogs and Mike Smith and the boogie boys will be here at the ticket.
Bach, question for you on a scale of 1 to 10.
What is your interest in the NBA finals?
Well, especially considering there's not as much competition right now.
You always look forward to the NBA finals.
Of course, I'm a Celtics fan.
I would much prefer they be in it.
But I think it's pretty high.
I mean, I'm very interested to see.
I think you've got a historic
somewhat of a historic finals
either way, whatever the way this comes, right?
I mean, Nixon Spurs, the Spurs
obviously already a historic franchise
can, you know, can kind of get that
next one without pop. Clearly,
the Wimby era is upon us.
Is this just, you know,
did they make a special run?
Is this going to be kind of something we can get used to,
all that sort of stuff? And then the Knicks. The Knicks are
a team that we've got
conspiracy theories on, Patrick
you wouldn't be drafted, all that sort of stuff.
But I've always said, if the NBA really wanted to cash in and we're setting things up,
why don't the Knicks win more?
And here we are finally.
And then the other thing with that, too, is how often do we see a player the size of Jalen Brunson lead his team to a championship?
I know that's kind of been talked about in NBA circles.
You know, it's pretty much Steph Curry in the last.
It's harder to kind of think of a player of that size being the lead for championship teams other
than that in quite some time.
We forget.
Is that a thing that happens that we forget about Steve Nash, Alan Iverson, Isaiah, Tom.
Like, we forget.
Yeah.
We forget the small guys have their run.
Yeah.
The pro game, like the college game, is cyclical.
It evolves.
And it cycles and recycles.
And we forget that the little people have the ball the most.
LeBron took that away.
LeBron was the Apex predator when it came to a man with size who had the ball.
Joker.
being a big with the ball.
Yannis, a big with the ball.
But the history of the game,
all the way back to Bob Coosie,
is that the point guard,
an active, proactive,
facilitating point guard
was the most dominant player on the floor
because they had access to the ball the most.
I mean, we go through it.
We understand that Oscar Robertson,
triple doubles aren't a new thing.
And he was a 65 point card, mind you.
we forget the Walt Fraser's of the world.
We forget that this thing really happened.
You know, yeah, magic came along and threw us out of the loop for a bit,
but then it evolves back with small point cards or small two guards.
And it happens.
It happens where those players with the ball, he's also a unicorn,
in fact, that the mid-range game, he's not living outside the three.
He's a problem in the pain.
Getting to the elbow and free throw line and being able to hit those jumpers.
Listen, if you give up, the spurs give up 50 points in the paint with Wimby on the floor or off,
it doesn't exclude that soft jumper.
That mid-range jumper, that floater, that dribble drive, penetrate, pull up, shoot the 12-footer.
he can't get to everything.
And Brunson's, he's showcasing.
Listen, you can sit outside and bang three.
He's cool.
Fine, cool.
But I tend to believe that every time
Wemby shoots the three,
um,
the spurs are less than less better.
I know that he likes the freakishness of being,
having a seven foot four person out
they're shooting threes.
But there still is some tendency to want the big to facilitate from the middle.
He gives everybody a better option when he's at the elbow than if he's standing at it
through.
That's just the way it works.
And listen, if you've got a big, like, cat who's willing to work the triangle defensively
from the free throw line to either lower box square, he can defend that triangle.
You're not asking him to defend the corner three.
You're asking him to defend the triangle in the paint.
And that's problematic.
The Knicks have had this first number.
This isn't new.
If you go back and watch their two previous games,
you'll see all the tendencies,
all of the tendencies.
And it shows up.
Now, Bach, in full honesty, in full disclosure,
my main interest in the NBA finals is Danhausen.
Oh, okay.
In full.
In full.
Listen, this is a run.
This is an epic Philadelphia 76ers Moses Malone full foe foe foe run.
That's how good the next bit.

This is a faux, fo, fo,
run and they weren't that good,
Bach. Were they the best
team in the East? Not in the regular season.
Right? They weren't.
And here comes Danhausen.
Here he comes.
Put him in the next hall
of thing. Because
the curse. The curse
work. Put the banner up.
Danhausen needs to. Dan has
a banner. It has to happen. Listen, man.
It has to happen.
There is no logical explanation for the Knicks going on this epic run.
Fair?
Pretty fair.
Right?
That it wasn't done last year.
It hasn't been done in generations for them.
Not even as a Ewing's Nick team did this happen.
Right?
Right.
And it had not, they had not played this level of dominant basketball
until
until Dan Housen
curses everybody
the Knicks reply.
It's the only answer.
It's the only answer.
It's the only answer.
And that's my intrigue is
oh my goodness, this is really happening.
Which is very strange
because obviously says the WWE
as you're positioning that.
You can't
you can't possibly expect it to go any better.
I mean, when you make the curse,
his whole thing's a curse, right?
That's his whole gimmick.
Right.
And so you take the chance on the sports team, like, good luck.
Nobody can predict this stuff.
And they've won 12 straight.
They're blowing everybody out.
They couldn't predict it.
As a matter of fact, they don't have an answer for it.
What do you tell me?
McKill Bridges all of a sudden became triplet number three.
Is that what we're doing?
Right?
Do they have, are they following the NBA mode or they're breaking the NBA mold?
Right?
because all of their tendencies are not current NBA tendencies.
You don't live and die by the three, breaking NBA tendency,
because that's not Brunson's game.
You're not living and dying by the three.
That's not cat.
That's not cat's game.
That's not his game.
Epic bench run, not their game.
So every now and again,
and you go back to the six years for Joker, Janus, right?
that the interval, the three-year interval
of a different approach to attacking
the best in the game?
And Craig Asker's,
is Brown the difference?
Here's the thing. I don't know what the difference is.
Bach, do you,
can we fully say that Mike Brown
is the difference?
I, I am so infaccentated by that because,
you know, obviously when you let go of Tibado
last year, it was, you know,
that's a big move. I mean, they made a big run
in the postseason, you know,
beat the Celtics last year.
And, you know, it's just one of those things.
Like when the bucks went and got Doc Rippers after moving off their previous coach,
it's like, these are just recycled.
This is your answer.
Mike Brown, who's been a coach everywhere is the answer.
And then look at what's happening.
But yes, here's the thing.
He controls the controllable.
When you go and get a recycle coach, what you're getting is management.
You know what?
There's some nonsense going on.
Can you remove that nonsense?
And giving him the freedom.
because again, he coached LeBron.
So what do you do?
Is that a typical, was that a typical style of play for the cabs?
Were they doing what everybody else is doing?
No.
It was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was
the, it was the brawn in the four times, right?
And he was not playing the typical style of game that was being played when they were,
when Cleveland had their run.
And then what happened?
Miami took that and said, okay, here's what we're going to do.
Right, we're going to do some of this.
Right.
And then the Lakers said, well, we'll do some of this too.
Because we're trying to beat Janus, Joker, Tatum.
Right?
Those are the last three outside of it.
Those are the ones.
Right?
And each version of it was a big, big, bigger.
Who did more, more, more.
each version or iteration of the big being the point four,
the facilitator four or five,
made the rest of the NBA adjust.
But on the other end of the spectrum,
here comes Brunson.
And Kat, who, for all of Kat's uniqueness
as a human being and as a player,
cat's been in the league.
cat's always one in the league he just could never get to epic because he never had the
he had a guy who was a shoot catch and shoot three drivel drive get to the paint guy but never the
finisher when he's got a finisher and he's got three defensive dogs around him the part that we
miss about the nicks is their ability to defend and their ability to defend the things that
the opposition wants to do most.
And that's quality
coaching. So if you give Mike Brown credit
for that, and deservedly so,
right, because he's a winner.
Mike Brown's a winner.
Is he
this streak good?
Well, there's evidence to say that he is
because they didn't do it without it.
They didn't do it without it.
And that's, it's interesting
things, but again, I'm still
more curious about that.
Simple, simple, simple.
Ike Cruz says this.
What's up, D.P. and Bach.
I thoroughly enjoyed yesterday, Hot Ones Challenge.
That inspired me to take in Brett Baker's official episode as well off YouTube.
Well done.
Also, all of my thoughts, prayers towards Bach and his growing family.
And the happiest of birthday wishes to Bach on Monday.
There you go, Bach.
Oh, I appreciate that.
Right?
All in place.
I guess we got to get cake for Monday.
You got to get cake.
Also, the heads up.
And again, we're going to invite in the very first.
three texters in the next segment, and it's the first three, but you have to wait for my signal.
You have to wait for my signal.
And the signal will be Danhausen says you are cursed.
And the moment I say that in the next segment, the first three texers, I'm going to invite you in to take batting practice with assault dogs.
And it's a pretty cool day.
And again, I can, you know, again, I'm sitting here,
you see all the marks, all the beauty marks on this bat?
I do.
Right, the beauty marks of a ball well hit.
Now, there were some where it's the end of the bat,
but there's some on the barrel.
That's what you're shooting for.
And there's not much of a difference.
So we've got to make sure that we'll give you tickets to the game.
You'll probably get a bat.
You might even get a hat.
I think they gave away hats as well.
But we'll see.
We'll find out from the Salt Dogs what's going on.
But again, it's blood bank night.
Give blood tomorrow at Haymarket Park just because,
just because it's good for this community.
You'll be helping somebody in the full.
We'll close with this.
Dave Brasca says as a Celtics fan,
I'm disappointed they aren't in the finals,
but knew the Knicks were dangerous when they beat the Celtics in the playoff last season.
And Bach, as you said, there were signs.
We just didn't know.
we just didn't know.
We'll go to break, come back.
Virginia Tech was just gifted
with a $75 million
donation mainly for athletics.
$75 million.
What does it cost to have a championship team?
Tough to say.
That's the question.
We will muse.
We will ponder and we will
inquire. We will be curious. What's it take? How much does it take? The SEC folks said between
30 and 50 million, which means it's 40 to 60 million. But we'll talk about that when we come back
to one on one. Download our app by searching 93.7 the ticket in your app store. You're listening
to one-on-one with DP on 937 the ticket and the ticketfm.com.
