Back to one-on-one with DP.
Sponsored by the Downtown Lincoln Foundation on 93-7 the ticket.
Final segment before we hand it over to AC.
Adam Kierker in the building.
Peter Cobalt in studio.
We appreciate him making time to come have these conversations with us.
We'll start with the Australian Open because I was, I was, I was vexed, terribly vexed.
at the idea that Jokevich was, okay,
I wanted the story of having Joker win the Australian Open now.
I haven't always rooted for him that way
because I was way more of a Nadal guy, right?
and this was difficult for me.
But they also understood the career slam,
it's historical.
Like it's meaningful for a reason.
Was it better for tennis to have Joker win
or to have the career slam happen?
So for me personally,
I would have probably still preferred Djokovic
to get that number 25,
something about the number 25.
is pretty special.
He already has all the...
He's literally won every single tournament
that you can play on the pro tour,
including a gold medal at the Olympics.
He's done everything.
So that would, for me, would have been
just kind of the cherry on top.
But also to have Alcraz,
he didn't just win the career slam.
He's the youngest player ever to win the career slam.
He's got seven Grand Slam titles.
That's the same number, I think, as Currier.
It's crazy.
You know, Matt's Velander, I think.
those are some of the, you know, most well, you know,
that's the name I haven't heard.
I haven't heard by Blander in a long time.
These are some of the most accomplished icons in tennis.
And this guy's 22 years old and he's got, you know,
like so you wrap your head around that.
And you're like, well, is our joke of joke which might have needed that 25th to hold off this guy.
Right.
But it was amazing.
Honestly, for me, I'm biased to tennis.
I think tennis players are the best athletes in the world.
You have to be the absolutely most well-rounded, complete athlete, mentally, physically, spiritually, technically, tactically. It's all on your own. And Djokovic is the best we've ever seen. So for me, Jokovic is the best athlete walking around on the planet. He might be the best one ever. Just singular individual at what he does, longevity, accomplishments, you know, upbringing, all of it. It's what you guys are seeing with Novak, if you don't watch tennis and you have the chance and you're just flipping around the,
the channels and the TV or I don't know if people still do that anymore they got to go to the
the different stations and stuff yeah multi-stream but uh watching just take a take 15 minutes
even if you don't like tennis or care for it watch watch him you're watching you know
you're watching the tiger woods or the michael jordan or you know of of tennis the best
player ever um so it's amazing he's he's done so much for tennis and he's still trying to stick it out
and win one more i think deep
Deep down, I think he thinks he might still be able to, but I think that is starting to wean slightly.
Interesting to watch.
60 seconds or so.
Seahawks, Patriots, do you care if you do care why?
Well, I love Mike Brable.
When I was at Ohio State, he was the defensive line coach there, and you'd hear stories how hard he coached.
And he'd lead practices with broken nose and stuff like that.
you get into it with the coaching stuff.
So he's a,
he's an Ohio State guy.
That's where I went to school.
So he's obviously phenomenal players coach,
tough,
you know,
everything you'd want to see in an NFL coach.
Like I think he stands for it.
So I'll go,
I'll go with the Patriots.
I never think,
thought I would say I'd root for the Patriots ever,
but,
um,
I think it's going to be a great game.
I think they're different teams.
I think maybe the Seahawks are a little more dynamic than,
than the Patriots in terms of just their offense.
But,
it's a Super Bowl. There's going to be nerves, you know, so
drawn out game and I'll go with the pets.
Saturday, Dylan Tennis Center, 12 noon.
Ole Miss versus the Huskers. Coach, elevator pitch, why should they come see you on
Saturday? You're watching two undefeated teams go at it. Big 10 versus SEC,
12 noon. Their rumor is they're giving away a free TV in the raffle. Come, be loud.
cheer on the Huskers and let's keep this thing going.
Coach, thank you, kind, sir.
Once again.
Thanks, T.P.
We're breaking it down for us.
Nope.
Appreciate you.
Appreciate you.
