We are back here on one-on-one on 93-7.
The ticket, I'm Jake Bachman, joined by Austin Omerman.
And now the Hall of Famer, how's your legend, Terrell Farley, as well.
Terrell, how is it going today?
Pretty good there, Bob.
Just normal day, Friday, good sense Friday.
That's right.
Yeah, nothing like a good sense sandwich on your Friday.
Absolutely.
Of course, we'll have Bach of the black shirt coming up here in a little bit,
but we get a little preview of that and be able to join Austin in here as well.
So I did want to get your guys' thoughts on an interesting outcome last night.
I think a lot of people expected the Eagles to beat the Giants, as has been the case for the last couple of years.
But instead, the Giants get a 34 to 17 win over the Eagles.
The Stap the Giants' eight-game losing streak to the NFC East as a whole,
and was their first win over a defending Super Bowl champion since beating the Denver Broncos in 1998.
So very rare that the Giants would be.
do that. In any case, they move up to two and four. And this has been in the last couple of weeks
following Jackson Dart, the new quarterback that's stepping in, as well as fellow rookie Cam Scadabo,
who's been doing well. So Dart was 17 to 25 for 195 yards, also ran 13 10th for 58 yards.
Surprisingly, it became just the third quarterback into the Super Bowl era to rush for at least
50 yards in each of his first three starts. That joins Lamar Jackson.
and Jalen Hurth.
So pretty good
to compete or pretty good folks to be around there.
Giants are went three and 14 last season.
So now that they've got their second win here,
we'll see what the young group can do.
Eagles now four and two.
And a lot of people were on Sequin watch because he was only got six carries last
year.
Only averaged about three and a half yards per carry this season so far.
Did a little bit better,
but wasn't able to get too many,
too many carries here 12 carries for 58 yards but they utilize them a little bit more guys are
these young giants for real camp scantiboo scataboo is that guy um he's a he's a good blocker
powerful runner jack jack jackson dart uh got to be careful with jac jackson dart though because
i i feel like if he's going to be targeting himself trying to be a running quarterback and
those guys hit hard in the NFL.
I don't know if he's a runner like that or like Lamar Jackson or Jaila Hart hurts,
but at the same time, he's got to be careful and watch yourself.
I am less sold that the Giants are for real.
I am much more concerned about the Eagles.
I really am.
First, first things first, I'll one up your rushing yard stat box.
So yes, rush for 50 yards in all three of his starts.
Also, completed 65% of his passes, had multiple touchdowns in all three games,
and held a double-digit lead in all three games.
It's not like they're winning close,
you know, some fluky finishes or some really clutch,
you know, late-game stuff that you think would regress.
No, the Giants are getting up big.
The only other quarterback to do that 65% completion,
multiple touchdowns, 50-plus yards rushing,
and holding a double-digit lead at any point in three consecutive starts
in a career was Lamar Jackson in his unanimous MVP season in 2019.
That's what we're seeing from Jackson.
and dart. To your point on Sequin Barclay, though, this is why I'm concerned about the Eagles.
AJ Brown non-factor, Devante Smith non-factor. You think about Sequin Barclay, he has yet to rush for
100 yards this year. Not a single 100-yard game. Through six games, the Eagles are minus one
in point differential, tells you they should be about 500, which is where they are. They've been
outgained in every single season. Defense is still good, maybe not the same elite edge it has.
last year. The offense has taken a massive, massive, massive step back. Got some stats from
a shield Capadia here. I believe he's with the ringer. In the second half of their last three
games, the Eagles offense has had 19 possessions. Here's the 19 possessions. Two touchdowns,
two turnovers, 13 punts and two drives at the end of the game with no result. How about this?
The Eagles offense this year so far is below the league average in expected points.
added per drive success rate explosive plays and rushing success rate from running backs and you're
only down one starter on offense it's the pretty much the same core you have last year that has
taken a massive step back it's warning signs in philly right now they're four and two i think
that's good enough i mean you still have a long way season ago they could turn it up a little bit i
think when you talk about say corn barkley he he's not even on pace right now to get a thousand
for the scene. He's like 9-06 or something right there.
Which I agree. I mean, we've seen the Eagles turn it around before.
I mean, Sirian was on the hot seat a couple of years ago before this Eagles team really kicked into overdrive and went on the run we've seen for the last couple years.
But that's why I gave those numbers far away.
Because there's nothing telling you they're going to snap out of it.
You're just banking on the talent.
It's just the way they perform. I mean, you still have a decent team enough to go out there and win the Super Bowl.
You got a better chance of winning the NFC East by far.
if you just continue the things you do
and take it the little steps to build your offense up every week
because your defense is going to be there to hold you back.
So I think they're just exploring stuff right now.
Like you said, A.J. Brown, no factor.
Hope he still don't want to get traded out of commotion.
He done the other tight end.
I mean, the other receiver had almost 100 yards.
I think he had 10 catches 100 yards.
I'm not sure.
But it wasn't even the other.
What's the other one now?
Devante Jones.
It wasn't even him.
Devante Smith.
I know we went to Bama, but you got to put some respect on this name.
Come on now.
Come on now.
Yeah.
The older I get, the more I miss up name.
So you got to think about that part.
Yeah, he's been calling him at Johnson, Emmett Smith for a few years.
Yeah.
What's the difference?
Happy birthday, by the way.
Is it Emmett's birthday?
It's birthday for the football account.
Well, there we go.
That's good to say.
Good to hear.
Hopefully he has a good game tomorrow as well.
I didn't want to get your guys's thoughts as well as the Savannah
Bananas is heading to.
Lincoln, Nebraska. They'll play at Memorial Stadium, June 13th in Haymarket Park, June 11th.
Of course, former Oscar pitcher Kyle Perry, also a former 93-7, the ticket late night host, if you didn't know, is on the bananas.
So wildly popular kind of craze going throughout the nation.
But interestingly enough, there are some people that are not all that happy about.
maybe not the bananas coming in,
but when they're coming in, Austin,
we were talking about this during the break.
You're not a big fan of the date that was picked here.
I've carved out an entire segment of old school for this,
so I don't want to give away the game incredibly.
I'm just a little bit worried about what this says
about Nebraska's administration
because it falls on College World Series opening weekend.
You have two dates.
You have them on Thursday and then on Saturday.
So you have them for opening ceremonies at the college,
World Series and then the first Saturday of the college world series or the second day of games in that that second pool.
Either you didn't know you forgot or you didn't care. There's just so much potential for this to go
catastrophically wrong for the Nebraska Athletic Department. If this is the year that Will Bolton
his team put it all together and make the run to Omaha, even if you're not banking on that,
why would you want to compete with something that you know is a crown jewel of the state for two weeks?
It's not a surprise. It shouldn't be a surprise. What were the logistics that you said, yeah, let's take over opening ceremonies on Thursday instead of moving the bananas to Haymarket Park on Wednesday?
You know, like, what does that one day make such a big difference? And then to have a second one in Memorial Stadium, I get it. They're doing like a stadium.
campus tour, what have you, and playing a memorial stadium is a part of that.
But they're not going to pack that place out for that.
Who's playing in the Memorial Stadium?
The bananas.
For real?
Yes.
Yeah.
Banana ball.
Banana baseball.
Yeah.
They were playing at a Haymarket Park.
They will.
They're doing both.
They book.
Yeah.
That's why I don't under.
I just, this whole thing blows my mind.
And you can tell I'm kind of riled up about this.
So that's coming up on old school later too, because, oh my gosh.
I don't understand.
Yeah.
It's not.
It's not necessarily showing a whole lot of faith in your baseball program, like you said,
at least to get to the College World Series.
Now, that's, you know, every team wants to make it to the College World Series.
Nebraska hasn't been since the mid-2000s.
So, I mean, it's, you know, they're probably betting correctly,
but it just doesn't show a whole lot of faith from the very people that are, you know,
whose baseball team it is.
So it is interesting in that way.
I'm also just intrigued to see kind of what the reaction will be here locally
in just the fan attendance there,
you would think one game at Memorial Stadium might be enough.
You might even think one game at a Haymarket Park be enough,
but they're good enough to, I mean,
they do draw quite a bit of people.
So, you know, typically a lot bigger stadiums than Haymarket Park.
So that's why they've kind of got that focus on Memorial Stadium there.
Obviously, the logistics of putting a baseball stadium together there as well,
or baseball field will be entertaining to kind of see how they play all that out.
You know, and I'm, I'm just, I'm fascinated by the whole thing.
I love the fact that Nebraska over the last couple of years, whether it be Garth Brooks
concerts or volleyball day or anything that I've understood, hey, we've got something here
where we can really put on a show and get a lot of people to pack it out, kind of, a lot of
times the warm up kind of to the Nebraska football season.
So this kind of plays along further with that idea.
And I'm excited to see what they do in the future with those events too.
And that's why I was so excited when I first.
saw this. Not because the bananas. I can take him or leave them. Really, I just kind of forget about it.
You do your thing, whatever. I don't care enough, so I'm just not going to think about you.
Are y'all banana fans? I just told you. I had my opinion, but I'm not.
It's whatever. Take him or leave him. It's like, you know, it's like, you know, for baseball.
Helly's ears just, you know, now it's like, this is like, this is like, this is like the Happy Gilmore movie with the, with the golf.
I mean, who wants to see a bunch of guys sing duet.
dance, really, I mean, this is like Disney on Ice for me or like, or like, saved by the bill
for baseball.
I don't even care what the bananas do.
Why is the timing the way it is?
Like, I just don't want to have to think about you.
I know that's their entire brand is being the disruptor, is being, you know, in the news,
finding something flashy to do.
And maybe that's part of their stick, right?
Yeah, we want to do this to try to cut into that audience, to try to steal.
the attention because that's who we've always been if you're the bananas.
But then if you're Nebraska and you're Troy Danin, you have to understand whose toes
you're stepping on.
You have to understand that only the rich series.
You only step it on some rich.
And it's not like you can just get tickets.
You don't have to enter the lottery.
Like it's the masters.
You can't just walk up and buy tickets.
Will they sell 80,000?
I highly doubt it.
I really do.
I don't think this is, this is the idea Nebraska thinks it is right now.
Now, maybe one part of it is maybe they're hoping to kind of combine that is obviously
with the College World Series, you know, there's always shots that that can be taken throughout
this games. Baseball games, there's a lot of shots that you go, you know, fan crowd and all that
sort of stuff. If you can reference back, hey, here's a stadium full of people watching
wacky baseball in the same state that we've got the College World Series in, you know, so I think
they could maybe try to get a little bit of the rub off of that. But to me, I mean, I agree with you. And of course,
the bananas factor into this, too. They've got their own schedule. They've got all these big
stadiums they're going into. But it does.
you know, the timing of it has disrupted some,
some folks around here.
And obviously, it's just, if you're,
if you're Will Bulls, the Nebraska baseball,
then he's going, hey, what the heck, man?
So what is our ceiling?
So there's no affiliation with anybody for the bananas.
Kyle Perry used to play for Nebraska.
No, no, no, no. What I'm saying, when it comes to them playing,
I mean, what, they're, they're not a football.
I mean, they're not a league or anything in baseball.
They played a traveling.
So this is like the Hall,
The Harlem Grove Toronto of baseball.
But it's not fixed to the fact that they will win every game.
And it's still competitive, but they still just kind of do some silly stuff throughout it.
And I personally don't get it.
On that side, it's not for me, but it fell out stadium.
I watched to play one day.
It looked like a bunch of guys that want to be in sync singing and bobbing and weaving,
just like a bunch of just the Timberlakes out there, just trying to play baseball.
I mean, it's weird to me, but if it sells, it sells.
I mean, I wonder how much these guys make on this team right here.
I, enough for a summer job, I assume, you know, make it worth their while.
And for these people that are on the text line, I'm just going to dress you all at once.
At least for my, I am not mad at the bananas for who they are or what they do.
I'm not even mad that they're in Lincoln.
Cool, great, fantastic opportunity.
I love that Nebraska is using the football stadium for stuff that's not football.
Out of season, right?
I've been on, I've been trying to push that bandwagon for a long time now.
I'm not mad at all about what they do.
it's when they're doing it.
I'm pissed at Nebraska for the timing.
I really am.
I just do not understand Nebraska's rationale to have this on college world series opening weekend.
If you do it the weekend before, if you do it the weekend after, is that so hard?
I just don't think the bananas are going to be so worth it for Nebraska.
I'm not saying it's not going to be worth it for you fans or for your kids or for your enjoyment.
I'm saying for Nebraska because.
presumptively
Nebraska is doing this
for its own financial benefit
in some way, shape, or form.
I don't think that having
the bananas in town
on College World Series opening weekend
is the right move.
I don't think it's going to work out
the way Nebraska wants it to,
which is why I'm skeptical.
It might. It might.
I think so.
I mean, you have to think about the poor people
who can't afford the
I mean, the College World Series tickets,
I mean, some people can't afford them.
So you get them for the lower class people
when you do the drawings or however they're going to sell them,
you probably can get $50,000,
in Memorial Stadium for that baseball,
probably even more than that.
Well, I mean,
it's certainly a family event.
So it's different.
Might be,
might be different.
And they're both going to be the same price.
You can't even say the bananas are cheaper.
By the time you get in the lottery,
you pay for the tickets,
you pay for parking,
it's going to be the same as the trip to Omaha.
And again,
I don't want this to be one baseball is better than the other.
I'm not so pro CWS purity versus,
you know,
Harlem Globetrotters, whatever.
But where are you going to get 80,000 people for this from?
I mean, you're not going to pull regionally.
I doubt it because they're going to Kansas City because they're going to other places in Kansas and Iowa.
I think they're up in Minnesota at one point.
They'll be in Colorado, I think.
You're not going to be the regional pull.
I think this is going to be pretty Nebraska-centric.
I don't know.
You sound like a little hater.
I mean, how many times they call you that on the radio?
Not often enough, I guess.
Oh, okay.
I thought you probably see about 10 of them on the text level right now.
For what it's worth, he's not alone.
There are more than just Austin that are a little upset or concerned about the timing of the bananas coming.
But I think most people are pretty happy at least that there will be an opportunity to see the bananas.
It just might be stepping on some toes and maybe kind of overshadowing or whatever, whatever phrase you want to put it.
It's just like tomorrow's football game, bought the timing is wrong.
Yeah.
You got Indiana and Oregon at 230, Nebraska, and Maryland at 230.
You got some other good games at 230?
Oh, man.
Last week's time slot, too, was, I mean, there's a lot of good games under Nebraska.
It's hard to, it's hard to, with all the, with the super conferences and all the
matchups you get, it's hard to avoid it these days, which is a good thing.
I'm 99% sure that I will be watching.
I mean, Indiana versus Oregon.
I'm 99% sure you will too because we're talking about it all week.
Let's go ahead and take a quick break.
We've got more to talk about.
We'll wrap things up here on one-on-one on 93-7 the tickets.
