And I heard you talking about those linebackers, and I can't be hateful of who you put together, but when you're talking about a coverage of linebacker who can come up with plays in big game, my boy, Rod Martin, got it done. When you got it, you got the MVP. You got the MVP.

I'm not saying, I'm not saying. And he's the guys you had lined up. But when you were pausing there for a while before you came up with Derek Thomas, I'm like, all right, get right? He holds his own. Look, the Raiders have their own, right? I mean, when you talk about the legacy of the lineback position, the Raiders had dudes.

Like, they'd had dudes. And you, I mean, you can talk about our buddy, Matt Millen. You can talk about Rod Martin. You can talk about Ted Hendrish, the Matt Stork. Yeah. Philibiano, who. Bill Filipiano. No.

You know, one of the most hated, like for a while to be hated as a linebacker, you had to play for the Raiders. Yeah, yeah. You know, who's your boy with the neck roll who liked to spit? Oh, Skip Thomas, man. No, no. You also play Romanowski, Romanoxie. Robynosky.

And again, you're talking about a list that is pretty important and pretty deep. Like we go back to the beginning of it, right?

Go back to the beginning. Yeah. Early days of La Monica. George Blanda. You got to consider Blanda, right? Yeah, Blanda. But for me, it comes down to Stabler and Plunkett. You only get one.

Yeah, no. No, I think two of quarterback systems work. No, no. Flunkin. Flunkin had quite a crew with him, but he got it done. That was what he was with Flores. Uh-huh. Mm-hmm.

stabler. If I like the charm of it, I'm going with the snake. Tells great stories and win games and, you know, see a hand. Probably the best drinker. Probably the best drinker, probably. Yeah, best storyteller, best skirt chaser. Oh, man. You know, there's all that wrapped in one.

Then you got plunk it. I mean, great story. And, you know, from, oh, man, I can't do it. All right. Okay. Let's let, let's, so who's behind. them who's going to who's going to carry the mail for you, Barry Thompson?

When you ask me to choose one, I got a problem. But you got one. You only get one. And I got BoJack. And I don't know. I didn't forget, Bo. When you make a cake, you don't put the cherry on first. Come on, man. Who's your guy?

Who's your guy, though? Is it Marcus or Bo? Or do you put Bo at full? But you do what they did. Remember, Marcus... Hey, listen, listen, listen, I'd run splitbacks with Bow and Marcus. How about that? How about that?

How about that? How about... That's why you're a coach. That's why you're a coach, Barry Thompson? If I'm keeping track, we've got two quarterbacks. We're doing two running backs, right? No, no, hey, hey, hey, hey. Look, look, look.

You have both them in the back, so it's split back. The thing, the way I know that works is when Marcus was at USC and they had a Heisman trophy runner behind him, he said, I'll play fullback. Right. Right? So we know that Marcus is willing to do that. And, of course, Bo did that as well. And Marcus was a former quarterback, so he can throw off the edge.

Off the offense becomes a lot of stuff. And try to deal with both the potential of both those guys going in different directions. Look, when you look at a split backfield, you've got two receivers on one side, single receiver on the other. With those two, it's almost like you're playing an empty set every time. They could catch down the back field. So on one side, you have three potential receivers, and then the other side you have two potential receivers. and at the same time you retain the ability to run. So those two in the backfield, the split-backfield situation,

done maybe now more than drop back. Yeah, that can present some problems. Barry Thompson, the idea of Marcus and Bo being solo against a non-cover is pretty unfair. Unless you got Derek Thomas and your boys out there. It is unfair. Well, you better have two. You better have to.

That's what I'm saying. They all better be out there. Peacampi asked on the text and said, why didn't you pick Jay Schrader? That's because you're from D.C. and you've seen Jay Schroeder. Look, look. You have to, when you go through the Apple Orchings, they're not all, they're not all, they're not all sell them. There's some bad ones in there to get to the good one. It's, Jake did all right. a Raiders receiver will be celebrated. A legend will be celebrated. Cliff Brantz. One of the two greatest deep ball threats in the history of the league. And I'm going to shake some people by saying that, that people do not understand that Bob Hayes and Cliff Brants were the two greatest deep receivers in the history of the league. Everybody falls in line behind.

Bob Bullitt Hayes. Right? But Cliff Brant goes into the Hall of Fame. long overdue great threat he's your receiver on one side they've got another receiver in the hall of fame kind of good kind of a rule breaker kind of a trend setter with stick them and all that yeah that's exactly is that you guy I talk about Dave Casper well Casper's you're tied in Casper's you're tight in although there are people that want Waller in the discussion

now right Oh, yes. Oh, yes, sir. And, and our friend. And I love this family more than, more than I can say. But Toby Christensen. Oh, oh, my God. Yeah, we got to have Toby in the conversation.

Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I just got, I just hit myself two times. We can't forget him. Right. Like, Toby's, Toby's the dude. It's 900 for a year. Right? Yeah.

Mr. Christensen. Good, nice. You know. Mr. I'm always open, Mr. Christian. All, look. He was open in the locker room. Oh, my God. I was just like, and he, unlike there was stories Kenny would tell about the branch,

the branch when they would get off the bus, he would turn back to Kenny and said, hey, I'm going to be open. I think Christian was so open. He didn't have to say it. He just, like, looked in here like, yeah, okay, I'll get you the ball. And the best hair in the NFL history. Oh, my God. And smart?

Smart. Like, I mean, his, his analytic work was on point. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. We've had his son on the station a couple of times. Yeah, family are great folks. You're not going to have to work very hard to figure out who your offensive line is. No, no, no.

I mean, no, no, no. I mean, Otto, Dave Dalby, we've got Archell, we have Gene Upshaw. I mean, come on. You got thumpers all over the place. Yeah, I mean, they were. We're going to lead the league in neck rolls. We're going to lead the lead in arm pads. And issuing neck.

Oh, the old arm, when they had to block up their hands in. Oh, just full arm pad, castor. For anybody out there, just go back, Google, Google Kenny Stabler or something. And the amount of time that they would, the stabor would have to throw the ball sometimes. Part of it was something that was misunderstood that the Raiders said. They said, you're not cheating, you're not trying. And what they met by that is that there is a line. And what you cross the line, that's a penalty.

So what they always wanted to find out, get to that line without going over. And so for years, they would come on the TV in the neighborhood, was the most penalized team in the NFL, and they would have all these points, and they would win, and they kept saying it like it meant something. But to the Raiders, what it meant was all throughout the season. They were finding out how close they could get to that line without going over, so that by the end of the season, they knew how to, you know,

do stuff to take and get away without crossing the line. And so it was a combination of that when you look at that, and a combination that if you're trying to pass rush against somebody, who you're not having any success against, eventually you kind of get tired. So when you look at those things, the combination of them finding, like getting right up that line,

so I'm sure they were cheating, you know, or getting close to getting called for foul. But they were just so good that guys would just kind of quit pass rushing at certain point. Hey, Barry, there's a thing, when we're talking offensive line and you talk the Raiders,

being in Nebraska, there is a legend. There is a legacy that's tied to the Raiders offensive line and Husker greatness. Mark, if you would... Okay, Mark is going to find this for us because it's one of the great clips ever. And they talk about a Husker who played for the Raiders, made his way. Madden went into some space about talking to him. and we're trying to find the clip.
