You're listening to one-on-one with D.P.
Brought to you by Canopy Street Market on 93-7 the ticket and the ticketfm.com.
Welcome back one-on-one, D.P. Bach.
I will be out the rest of the week, headed to Chicago for USC 319.
This is a spectacular card.
Of course, we'll hang out with Anthony.
Lionheart Smith.
here's the other thing.
The UFC people are putting together
for the credentialed media
access to
NFL,
Sunday night.
Bill's Bears.
I don't even have to like either team
going.
Right,
Bach?
Like if you're in town
for an NFL game,
you kind of have to go.
I mean,
Is that, but should that be a rule?
Should that, is that like a football fan rule?
Or am I asking too much?
Am I asking, like if you're in town,
and I mean in the town, not in the vicinity, but in the town.
If you're in the town of the NFL,
and I know that NBA falls in different places,
hockey falls in different places.
But NFL, if you're in an NFL town on a game day,
you as a football fan
shouldn't you go or a college game
right?
Absolutely, yeah.
Right?
I mean,
there are places.
There are some places that you,
maybe Kansas that you wouldn't go?
Oh,
I'd go.
I drove to the Kansas Duke game.
I drove all the way from Lincolnport.
Like,
so I'm not wrong that local,
so if you're,
let's say you're in Norman, Oklahoma.
On a Saturday.
You're going to go to the game.
Without a doubt.
or just be thinking about, you know, if my wife's dragging me somewhere,
I'd be just thinking about, I wish I was at the game.
Oh, no, I saw a shirt today.
It said, nah, because football.
But, like, no, like, I'm just not, if I'm in, if I'm in,
Texan, let me know if, if I'm wrong here.
But let's start with the NFL.
If you're in Dallas, Texas, Cowboys at home, you going?
Without a doubt.
Houston.
Yeah.
Green Bay.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
I mean, well, no, no, no, I'm not thinking about it.
I was thinking about telling you, I don't want to ruin the bit, but you can go through
every team and I'm going to say yes.
I mean, but literally that's it, right?
Yeah.
Right.
So then let's do college.
let's do college of the college towns
that if you were in town
and maybe the game matters
like maybe the opponent matters
I'm actually the same way I'll go to any game
I was in
I was in Bowie Maryland
and I went and saw Bowie State
like I went to see Norfolk State
I went to see Norfolk State
I went
saw a game between Bridgewater, Bridgewater and like, uh, Cataba. Like I,
Chowan. It was, it was, it was, but I, it was the thing. The ticket price was so good. I mean, I think
I paid like 10 bucks. Yeah. Right. And so does for five bucks. Burgers for five. I was like,
is this real life? That's right. So I went to,
a UNLV game, you know, back when they played at San Boyd Stadium.
It might be more popular now that they played Allegiant.
But that was the shocking thing to me is I was like, I just walked up and paid eight bucks for the tickets and walked right in.
I was like, this is not the experience that I have in Nebraska.
This is not.
Like, I mean, there are places like Jay and Austin and I, we do a thing on Fridays where we go around the games.
And it tells you like what the get in ticket prices.
and it's always like hilarious to see one,
what the most expensive ticket is
and then what the least expensive ticket is.
So let's just say this.
You ready for the,
we're going to dance to dance.
Okay.
So opening day is 10 days away.
College football.
Yeah.
Right.
The first game is in Ireland,
Dublin, Ireland.
I don't know what the ticket.
is. But that same day, it's Idaho State at UNLV. Would you go to the game?
Absolutely. See, Allegiance Stadium? You know, he's been a good program. 18 bucks. Yeah. 18
and they, they are. They're playing at Allegiant. You can't take a tour of Allegiant for $18.
You can't do the football stadium tour for $18. I don't think. Um, for,
Fresno State at Kansas, tickets as low as $43.
You're going, right?
Absolutely. Kansas is over be their first game with the newly renovated,
well, the stadium's the same, but it's newly renovated.
Yeah.
Yeah, so I think that's going to be interesting.
They got new money recently.
Fresno State's quarterback is going to be son of Kurt Warner.
Got to go.
Got to go.
Got to go.
Sam Houston at Western Kentucky, $13.
I'd pay $13 to see that hilltopper mascot.
That guy's awesome.
See, I think that's the definition of the fan,
is that it wouldn't matter.
Now, I can say this.
So when the Huskers were in Hawaii playing in the basketball tournament,
there was a bowl game in Hawaii.
And I had to explain to Becky why I would go and watch two random teams
at whatever Hawaii bowl game.
this was, I want to say it was San Jose State and somebody.
I don't know who the opponent was.
Didn't matter because you're going on campus to Ching Chin complex.
And it's not a great complex.
Mind you, it's not a great complex.
As a matter of fact, the gym that basketball has played in, not a great gym.
But for $57 to watch a football game in Hawaii.
That's like a good time to me.
Right.
Like I, so I think.
that's a fair statement that there are people and we're the people like with let's let's be fair
it's us right that that that that which is why i also fired it intriguing that if i was also in those
town so i'm renowned i full confession that if i'm in a college town and there's a football
practice going on and I can get to the stadium and peek in, I'm going.
Like, I'm the stalker guy that'll stay.
I literally ran into Dobble Sweeney and Clemson.
When Becky and I were moving to Houston, we drove from Virginia to Houston.
And on the way, we stopped at six college football stadiums.
Nice.
May a little bit out of your way here and there?
Wake Forest, UNC Wake Forest, Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, Jackson State.
Yeah, like we, it was, of course we stopped at LSU.
Yeah, I don't know, but that's just me.
So I don't understand, this is why I don't understand the football practice thing here.
because football fans should run sprint to any chance to be in a football stadium
and see football being practiced, played otherwise.
But that's just me.
That's just me, Bach.
I feel terrible putting that on people.
Texas says when I was living in Ohio,
I took the whole family up to a ball game at Ford Field,
and it was $26 to take the whole family of six to see.
Bowling Green versus New Mexico.
Kids loved it.
That is a perfect day.
He just described
up. Now,
in the same token, I will
go and watch Wesleyan
if the schedule allows.
Right? I will go,
I will go to
Seacrest and watch whoever's
playing. Even if
we're broadcasting it, I will just
go and hang out in the stands and not
tell Nick that I'm there.
I'm hoping to go.
I was talking to Chris Kalarvich.
He is coaching at Iowa Western,
one of the top Jukos in the nation.
It's only council bluffs,
you know,
basically a trip to Omaha.
I told them I want to make a trip.
So I'm hoping to make it up there this year.
Like we would go,
that was how I met a lot of ticket listeners
was going to high school games.
And having them just come up and go like,
what are you doing here?
Like you're not calling the game.
What are you doing here?
And you start to meet people.
And it was just,
it was a great.
introduction. Eric says, oh, don't worry. That's just creepy DP over there peeking through the fence.
Yeah, I literally. So, in the stop to Clemson, on the stop to Clemson, literally they're doing
cardio on this is like a hill outside the stadium. Oh yeah. And they're doing sprints up and down
cardio. And they've got players puking all over the place because Dabo was out there and he is in his
element. And it is, I don't care. Make it up and down the hill. And people are loose. There,
there were at least 10 trash cans. And I was in heaven. And I just took out my camp. I took out
my phone to start taking pictures of video. Of guys spewkin. Yeah. You know, and it was,
it was just like, this is awesome. We went, we snuck in. Oh, man, confessional.
snuck into Alabama Stadium.
Nice.
Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Bach, Bach.
And there was a lady there that had,
so they had a museum from Paul Bear Bryant with the hat on.
And I was like, I'm just going to put the hat on.
Is it okay?
And she goes, yeah, I'm happy.
We did it all the time.
So there's a picture of me putting on Paul Bram,
Brian,
but his little hats.
And I felt like such, but that's a jam to me.
Like, that's how you learn.
Yeah.
I thank you for validating.
Bach, I was said, he said, the Texas said this,
when the Huskers moved from the Bob to the Colise, from the Coliseum,
for me was an amazing upgrade.
The Coliseum experience was like watching basketball in a high school gym.
And the Bob had better amenities, a lot of good memories of Devaney era.
The best ones were when we played Missouri with knee on the sidelines for the Huskers
and Norm Stewart for the Tigers.
Talk about two hard-nosed coaches.
I get to meet Norm Stewart back in the day.
In D.C., so my sports bar there, we hosted a lot of alumni, and Missouri was one of them.
And Coach Stewart would fly to D.C. to meet the Missouri alumni who worked on Capitol Hill, but also, you know.
And there were, I didn't know there were that many people who watched Missouri football.
we had 300 plus people every Saturday.
And they were never good.
They were, bro, like they were okay.
Right.
But for basketball,
I think we hosted 25 games,
Bach, for Missouri during the year that he came to D.C.
And to tell you,
we never had fewer than 200 people show them.
Same deal.
You know, a random Wednesday,
Tuesday or Wednesday night in D.C.
And there's 200 Missouri fans in there.
And they actually made a run that year in basketball.
So, you know, question for you, Bach, we'll get to the answer when we come back.
But it says, has there been an explanation as to why they shut down the stadium stairs vendors?
I'm not one that attends games in person, but it seems really stupid to end that service.
And I've never heard an explanation.
Bach, I don't know if Bach has the answer, but he'll have time to investigate.
He'll give us the answer when we come back to one-on-law.
one.
