Welcome back.
Final segment, Hour 1.
Thank Nick Senior for joining in.
Bach, the man on the board.
And for all of you being active on the text line,
we'll read these texts.
Go to break.
Come by, say, hour number two.
Greg and Tilden says,
The standard has been with volleyball for some time at Nebraska.
Now, Matt Rule is here,
because as stated by D.E.
the standard hasn't traveled to the football program as desired.
The clock is ticking on production that equates to a change standard.
At some point, the standard has to match production.
Otherwise, it is not a true standard.
It is just an idea.
It's a concept.
Old Dad says, so does Nebraska have to be closer to Ohio State
and having to spend more money to win on your opinions?
Bach.
Ohio State,
their collective, or one of them,
one of their collectives,
said that the current roster is currently at 35 million-ish.
Buck, in any world,
if the buck guys are the standard
for how business is going to be done in the Big Ten,
can Nebraska compete if it is not spending on the same level?
it'd be tough.
I mean, we see this like in Major League Baseball or, you know, non-cellaric cab.
You can do it maybe for a year.
You can have a surprise run.
You can have, you know, just a perfect combination, a group of guys come together.
But about sustainability?
Can they, you know, can they do that from year to year while spending, what, 15 million less,
whatever it is than Ohio State, probably not.
You are generous.
Only, you're putting Nebraska in the 20 million category.
Well, I was just going with the rev share.
Do you think, well, yeah, but the rev share has to cover every sport.
Yeah.
All the sports.
All the sports.
If you're telling me you're giving the other 19 or 21 programs,
$2.2 million.
That's what I think.
Thank you very much.
You're on your own.
Most of the numbers.
Think about like 70% football, something like that.
Yeah.
It's a thing, right?
And that number.
And then here's the other perspective on that,
or at least another tentacle to it,
that Ohio State's not going to be a standalone
in the amount of money they're putting into their football.
program. So if Ohio State is in the 35 million-ish, you know that their neighbors, their neighbors
aren't going to be out financed. We also know that Nike in Oregon is not going to be out-financed.
We know that Penn State is not going to be out-financed. We know, we know that there are at least
five other programs of the Big Ten that will spend more money. We haven't even talked about the neighbors
in Iowa.
We haven't talked about
the most resembling,
you know, fraternal twin in Wisconsin.
You're talking about
the standard being 35 million.
And that's just the voiced public statement.
If they're telling you that the roster
is spending 35 million,
Bach, how much do you actually think they're spending?
That could be more,
could be less.
They might be trying to flex a little bit, too.
I, does strike me as flexing when you play in the national championship for several years.
You're just kind of there.
Still can't be.
Right.
And then, and then, what do you think Texas is spending?
Oh, yeah.
Alabama.
Yeah.
Georgia.
Texas Texas Tech.
Texas A&M.
Texas A&M.
You and Baylor are spending more.
Yeah.
Right?
So again, in the conversation that you have to be careful that if you're not selling standard of development
and production.
Ultimately, production will come into play because otherwise you're just offering money.
And if you're just offering money, even in the Big Ten, you're in the middle third, maybe in the bottom third, depending on the sport.
So you have to be careful what you say out loud.
That's why we're asking the questions.
We'll throw a break, come back hour number two.
Bach will flip the script and we'll ask the question, two-sided, most popular Husker athletes all time.
most important.
Huskers, athletes, all time.
Bach will give us his list when we come back.
