How about that? Quickly moving forward. And today, we get to share. the news in the announcement and the partnership and more than partnership relationship. Let's bring in Charles Phillips from Mary Ellen's Food for the Soul. Brother, how are you doing this morning? I am doing wonderful DEP. How are you? This is like I'm feeling, I got all the good feels because what we do on a day-to-day basis

is to be able to connect ourselves to really good people. And you're one of the really good people here in Lincoln, and it brings me great joy to be able to announce a partnership and to say thank you, first of all, for trusting in the vision of 93-7-the-ticket. And then secondly, for you taking care of our student-athletes. And it's important to say thank you because you're going to allow student athletes

to come visit you on a regular basis once a month. And that means the world to me and to them. So thank you for what you do, my friend. Oh, we appreciate it. We appreciate the opportunity, man. We love the students. We love the community. So that's what we're here for, man.

This is a day off, but is it really a day off for you? It is actually not a day off. We will be at Jazz and June this evening. Jazz and June kicks off tonight. So Mary Ellen will be in the building with a lot of other delicious food options. So be sure to stop down to the Sheldon Art Gallery right outside the lead center. will be down there at 5 p.m. this evening. It's glorious to know that you're in the space.

Now, can I, can we tease in temp? Now, we're going to have a 937 ticket grill off Friday morning. Friday morning. Oh, wow. So listeners have been invited to come down, post up in the parking lot, throw whatever their specialty is on a grill, and do that. I would be remiss in not inviting you, although it's almost like inviting Babe Ruth.

to the batting cage. So I've seen your videos. I don't think they want that smoke. Maybe not, but it is exciting. It's all the same, whether you're in a little Weber or some of the grills we cook on, it's all the same. It's beautiful. We get the cook out there.

We share stories and enjoy delicious food. That's what it's all about. We love all the smoke. We love all the smoke. So what do you recommend for our listeners? What kind of grill for the listeners? What would you recommend for them? Well, like I said, D.P., it really doesn't matter what grill you cook on.

It's just basically showing the love to the meat that you're cooking. So if it's a little Weber, you know, it's basically the temperature and the time that you're cooking the meat. You want to let the meat get done. As we call it at Marion, we let the meat give up the ghost. Once the meat gives up the ghost, it's time to party. Can we go up and down your menu? Because your stuff is, look, it's my favorite meal in town, and it's not even close. My favorite changes.

Some days when you make it and the catfish is available, sometimes it's the brisket, sometimes it's the ribs. Do you have a personal favorite amongst the things that you deliver in your mom's name? Well, my personal favorite is an item that you will not see on the menu often. It is my grandmother's turkey wings. That would be my last meal on my life, the turkey wings that grandma made. But some of the things that we do more often would be the baby back ribs. the brisket, the smoked chicken, of course, the catfish. Those are some of the meats.

The pulled pork is always a go-to. But as far as the sides, I would say, my mother's mac and cheese, my grandmother's collard greens, my wife, lasagna's aunt's baked beans are really the staple of our food. Rico just closed his eyes. We said, we said, yeah. Rico, Rico just closed his eyes and started to dream. I had to take a deep breath. Hold on.

You guys are incredible. Hey, Charles, tell the story of the name of what you do and who you're on. Yes. So about eight years ago, I lost my mother, Mary Ellen to cancer. and about five years ago, I just started cooking the stuff she taught me to keep her memory close. And we parked out there on the 29th of a 29th of Cornhusker, and I just cooked and cooked and cooked. And to make a long story sure, because I know we don't have a lot of time, DP, it morphed into where we are now. where are you now because you're not only a store but you're also catering and doing more yes we have

something we call marie ellen's mobile which is our food truck and catering service we also have marie atlellan of the restaurant on 2801 pine lake 27th and pine lake and just recently we opened our event space which is an event space for about a hundred people which uh is a semi-yearly open-air facility. You have over a 60-foot outdoor patio. It checks a lot of the boxes, easy access, unlimited parking, all those things right there on 27th and Pine Lake. So we will give the glory to God, D.P., because it's been nothing but a blessing. Our welcome we've received from the South Side Pine Lake neighborhood has been nothing short of incredible. And our food truck family, which, you know, is June, and it's time to go. So we appreciate

everybody, we give God the glory and we thank you, we thank all and everyone who let us fix them a plate. Let them fix them a plate. June 16th from 4 o'clock until 8 o'clock we will be, 937th ticket

So you'll have people that can fill in. We'll have some student athletes, as a matter of fact. I know. Bring a family down. I know all the football guys are coming. I know that a couple of basketball guys are coming, and the young ladies from Monday night, they're all coming. Okay.

It'll be like a little small birthday celebration. You could tell her that it's for me. Ellie, this is for you. All these people are for you. These are all your friends now. This is all for you. She'd be upset though.

Why? Like, look, your present is the food, right? Just eat this. That is not a bad deal, though.

It's really not. That's not a bad deal at all. Baby girl, just look at this. Look at this delicious. The first time she has his mac and cheese. She loves mac and cheese, so we'll see.

Oh, it's going to be so good. I'm thrilled. I'm thrilled for it. it. And I'm appreciative that, again, they're willing to jump in the pool and do this with us. Perfect. And we're still not done

with Beatrice Baker. We're just going to add some things to it. All right. We got lots going on. We got lots going on. Exciting. And there's so much going on. There's some of the stuff going on behind the scenes that I want to tear people, tell people, but I have to be patient. Well, like, every time I think about saying

something that we've talked about off air, I have to stop myself and think, is this not an on-air thing? Not yet. Like all like all these things. I'm like, no, wait. No, I can't. I can't say that one yet.

Not yet. No, no, I can't say that one either. Not yet. Not yet. There's too much stuff going on. Well, this is where we are. So I would ask the question in trying to put together stories. And what I want is a collection of stories from, from athletes.

Because there's so many athletes that really just they have their own collection of stories. You know, things that happen in the recruits. things that happened in high school that led them get here, why they chose Nebraska, those things. And there's so many student athletes that we don't get to cover. Like I'm looking forward to it, that golf is in the future. Like golf is in the immediate future. Soccer is in the immediate women, you know, soccer is in the immediate future for 93-7 ticket.

And we're trying to put them together and piecemeal them. There's some more former Huskers who are coming to air just to extend it, especially for the next three months, right? Because once we get in season, the schedule kind of falls into place where we're really 6 a.m. to 6 to 11 p.m. and you know where everybody's going to be. But the summer, we're trying some folks out. We're moving some things around. Pieces of stuff together because there's people that aren't here.

Right? There are people that are here. So we've had different schedules on different nights. And then also, if you miss a show during the day, the likelihood of somewhere during the week, that show is going to replay and you'll be able to hear what's going on. So we're trying to provide those 17 hours. Somebody goes, well, why not I just go for 18 hours? Stop it.

No. 17 hours is all along. 18 is just too much. 17 is good. Yeah, you know, it's just, it means Rico would never get to sleep. It's true. I don't get to sleep as it is. That's not because of this.

Sleep is for kids. Sleep is for kids. Well, you tell my kids that. That's why you keep saying it. Friday, June 10th. Again, several things in play. That morning, the grill off. So if you have grill skills, or if you think you have grill skills,

And that first one is loaded because here's the thing. Nick's going to try to strike out Breshawn. I'm still team Nick on that. Well, we'll get to, we'll get to it like in the buildup, right?

We'll do the poll. We'll have a whole thing. Have a whole poll. Who do you have? You know, that sort of thing. We're also going to, the VIP is going to start, but you're going to have, the VIP club is going to start, but you're going to have to give your preseasoned guests for the Huskers football record

because we're going to put it on your text line, your Sardahman text line name. And you can't remove it. You can't. I think we already have two. Right. So whatever you think the season's record is going to be for the Huskers football program,

you text that in. Go ahead. You can text it in now and we will just amend and adjust as we go. And if whoever's right, go into a pool. And we'll have some pretty cool items for the winner at the end of football season. but you have to have it in before they go to camp. Before camp?

Before camp or before Dublin? Before camp. Okay. Okay. Before camp. Because we're going to order some things and we've got to make sure we have enough of them. Right. So the people that want to text in.

The Kool-Aid is good. People are buying into this football team. No, just the regular season. Just those, well, somebody went 13 games. Bone went 13 games. We're going to go 12 games. The 12 regular season record. That's what we're going to go through.

All right. And then if you want, if you want to be a part of the grill, like if you don't have, you can't get online, you can text in and say, hey, I'm going to grow. I'm going to be a part of the grill off. And then we still need to come up with, how do we want to give away the 10 spots to take batting practice? I think we're going to do, I think we're going to do trivia, but we just need to, like, when we do trivia and how we do trivia. Well, I mean, you know, it's easy to do trivia because folks got a call in, first of all.

Yeah. And you guys know the rules that I am like a three for the win kind of got. And I'll pick a sport or a team and say you're going to have to give me three right answers to win the spot. We will have 10 spots to go along with. I talk to Banks and Norrie. They're going to take BP. Strix's going to take BP. Jay's going to take BP.

Rico, are you going to swing the bats or no? I mean, I will. I don't want anybody to make fun of me, though. Well, they're going to make fun. I know. That's kind of how that works. But I'll do it. Not Chicken Eric says 9 and 3 for the Huskers.

Okay. A lot of 9 and 3s. So people are buying it. But here's the thing. This way they can't escape what they've committed, right? Should I just put bones at 8 and 4? Just take a loss away. Bone, do you want 8 and 4 or 9 and or?

You want 8 and 4 or 7 and 5? Or 7 and 5? Yeah. Right. right because we're going with the 12 regular season games 8 4 7 and 5 well truth be told right because you don't know who they're playing in the bowl game

sure it's not like you know and and there's a big difference between you playing winning six games and the and the and being in the penstripe bowl and facing you know meatlo state versus you being 9 and 3 and having to go down and play it face Florida in an actual music city ball game or some sort careful meet low states pretty good. Well, you know. They got a transfer quarterback. They went deep in the transfer

quarter. They did. Nebraska ball fans are seven and five. Yeah. Okay. All right. So to be able to do that, and I think if you guys from the Texanon could also let me know, if you want to be in the competition for, if you're interested in taking batting practice, let me know. And we'll do the trivia. I'll have 10 spots and you'll, okay, Squire goes 10 and two. John going big. All right, buddy. What's good? All right, buddy. Also, John, I need to talk to you. We need to get the softball show cracking. So I'll talk to you off air about that and we'll get that thing moving because it's, it's the really good time. I know folks are bouncing and I get in a travel ball, et cetera, but I do want to make sure we have that Wichita Husker says nine and three.

So everybody thinks we've turned the corner. Apparently. Everybody believes that we, is that true? Text line, is that true? Because literally of all the people who are texted, not only, there's not even a seven, like there's one seven. There's one seven, two sevens. Okay, so most folks are thinking this is nine or ten wins.

I guess. Okay, text line, we see you. We see you. No, Nick doesn't think so. We'll get Nick's full-season guess, and we'll get all of the talent, and we'll put it on the board, we'll get a board, and we'll have what everybody else thinks.

Like, everybody who does a show here, even athlete from other sports. Yeah, not football, obviously. It's not football. Football, they're all going to say 12 now. Yeah, 13-0. Yeah. 14 and now.

Yeah. Sorry. Got to include the extra playoff game. Fred Not Hoyberg says 8 and 4. Okay. What do you say to, what would you say to a player who said 14 and 0? Like what would you do? What are you doing to make it so that you're going to go 14 and 0?

What would you do if this team went 14 and 0? What would you do to guarantee that this team goes 14 and out? A decent amount of things. Not anything. Like I saw, did you see the video on, on, on Instagram and TikTok where the guy asked these two, this couple who were New York Yankees fans? Oh, the, yes.

And he asked them, yeah. Hey, if the Yankees could be guaranteed a World Series, would you give you a partner a pass? And they both said yes. And they both said yes. And then he asked, who would you use your pass on to guarantee they win? And the girl goes, the girl goes, anybody in the world? And he goes, yeah, anybody. She goes, my ex.

And he looks at the guy, and he goes, oh. And the guy's like, hmm. And he goes, okay, so what about you? And he's like, and she's like looking at him, staring at him. And he goes, well, of course you. And she's like, oh, and then they go to walk away. And she's like, we're going to go fight now. First of all, they should go fight, but not for why she thinks.
