You're listening to One-on-One with D.P.
Brought to you by Beatrice Bakery.
On 93-7 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com.
Welcome back, one-on-one, face painted, get your back straight, chest out,
get a snarl on your face, tighten up the strings so the veins and the muscles show up,
get into the ring in a full sprint.
shake the ring ropes like the warrior that you are,
and let us celebrate you warriors.
Because witnessing the on-field staff,
the end stadium staff at both Bull and Field and Hawkfield,
on Tuesday in that just incredible weather,
40-mile-hour winds turning into a thunderstorm,
with a tornado watch and all of the things required.
But a shout-out and a courtesy package,
a care package courtesy of Beatrice Bakery,
to the folks who work in those stadiums who stood,
I mean, you had to stand in tornado form
under tornado winds and thunderstorm watch
and still do the job.
with a smile and with some consideration for the people who were there.
They were being helpful, they were being thoughtful, they were being proactive.
And staying away from situations, circumstances could have caused problems for a ton of folks.
We forget that in those spaces that some of the folks aren't the youngest, they aren't the strongest,
and people will come to the games, some are in wheelchairs, some are restricted, some are young,
some are old.
And the staff there, and specifically the ticket takes,
and the folks at the gate.
And there's six in particular who, quite frankly,
went out of their way to Husker fans on Tuesday,
helping them when the rain started
and folks started to run and scatter,
they were being purposeful
and helping folks make smart, sound decisions.
But they stood there and took the wind to the face,
without complaining,
now without bailing.
They just stood there and took it so that folks could just enjoy the games that they'd come to see.
So to the ticket takers and the folks down at Bowling and Hawkeville, I'll be down.
I got something for you.
Once again, you've been exceptional at what you do, and it is noticed and appreciated.
Because it's not, it wasn't easy.
Rieka, I got to tell you, bro.
It's a different kind of brave to stand down there and continue to do.
your job when everybody else is rushing for safety.
It was apparent and I was worried.
Again, there were folks that had in Fortybought on a wind who had swinging steel
cables and rods being thrown at their heads.
Shout out to Herbie.
Shout out to Herbie.
Herbie, man.
Great job keeping your head.
Oh, my goodness.
Like the wind was taking his head off.
Like, it literally was taking his head off.
off.
It's not very aerodynamic.
No, no.
I mean, I mean, he literally went full on two hands.
I'm just going to grab it.
I'm just going to stand here and hold it.
Hey, kids.
It's hard enough.
Yeah, like, hey.
It's the new dance.
You just hold your cheeks.
Do the tornado herbie.
You just hold your cheeks.
You just hold your head on.
Do the hurricane herbie.
Just kind of swing from side to side.
Oh, man, it was so deep and so good.
So to you all that worked and stayed in this thing and you were consistent and you were
professional and
you were strong.
Bravo to you.
I will drop it off.
I know there's folks in the building today
that I can drop them off to
for everybody.
So we'll eat some snacks
and some cake to cut up and share
because you guys were exceptional
and it was seen.
It was appreciated.
Bravo, man.
Bravo.
Hopefully the next weather delay
isn't as crazy.
Maybe it's just a little bit.
Maybe it's just rain.
That'd be nice.
Yeah, yeah.
Good stuff.
No, Rashon today.
He's taking care of his family.
But Nick and Rico and company, we will get you through the next three hours on the captain chair.
Lots to talk about NBA playoffs, Major League Baseball, and then whatever rabbit hole, they go down.
We'll figure it out.
Maybe we'll yell about the weather again.
Yeah, you can do that too.
All right, guys, appreciate you.
Talk to you soon.
