Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to One-on-One with D.P. Brought to by Canopy Street Market on 93-7 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com. Paint your face. Paint your face. Pump up the bicep. Put tassels around them. Tie them tight. Aerosol spray your hair.
Starting point is 00:00:25 Sprint to the ring. Snorting. Snort. Start. Shake the ropes. It's an ultimate memorial moment. Bach. Tell us about our two. Hour two today is sponsored by Shuiso's construction where safety isn't just a policy.
Starting point is 00:00:48 It's a promise. Shuisos is hiring skilled craftsmen, laborers, concrete workers, and steel erectors who value quality work and a team that has your back on and off the job site. Applied today at Shwezo.com, 40 years strong in business, Shuiso Construction. Shout out to Anthony Lyon Hartsmith. Again, in full recovery from Fusion, spinal fusion. in pain, pain management, et cetera, and he's showing up and greatly appreciated as well. We will have Husker tennis coach Peter Crowbelt tomorrow, along with Anthony Lionheart Smith and Steve Taylor. It'll be a full midday ticket lineup for you. I greatly appreciate all of that and for folks who are hanging out and sponsors. Bach, what did tipsy Tina's do today?
Starting point is 00:01:36 Oh, man, tipsy Tina's brought us some delicious buffalo chicken. tacos that we can have today and I've already I've already snuck back to get a few of them. There's no sneaking. There's no sneaking. It's given to you freely. Have as much as possible as possible. One of these one of these one of these one of these Tuesdays when they do that We'll invite some listeners down to come down and have some complimentary tipsy tinas
Starting point is 00:02:00 Because we can never eat all of it Like we can't like we've done a pretty good job of having the student athletes be able to come in and make plates to take with them back to their dorms, etc. But it's still a lot. So maybe one of the Tuesdays. We'll invite some listeners down to have free lunch here at the ticket. I think it wouldn't be terrible. And there's also Luke and I from the mill. We're working on a day where there'll be an hour where it's complimentary coffee.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Oh, wow. We're working on that. We're working on that because we want to give. And I think it's important that we give people a reason to come down here and hang out. with us, right? The people come hang out with us. And then, yeah, we're working today. Anybody that comes in today to just ask,
Starting point is 00:02:50 we have Sweet Things by Marcy with the home run for birthday cake yesterday. And we still have some cake left. So anybody that comes in, buy a cup of coffee today and we'll give you cake to go with it. I think that's not bad. That's not bad. Bach, we've been all over the place. So John and Cortland asked the question. He says, yeah, did you take a 10 mile walk to knock back the birthday cake?
Starting point is 00:03:17 In twofold, I had two different slices of cake. I had the chocolate, the double chocolate joint from Sweet Things by Marcy. And then I had a slice of the red velvet after my birthday dinner last night. Becky took me to dinner. And yeah, I had a slice of birthday cake as well. Um, so shorter walk because it's 948,000 degrees outside. Um, so I was not trying to melt. I am the kind of chocolate that melts.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Um, so I, I, I, I tiptoe. Yeah, it's the rule. Rubber duck says the thing that my, my daughter, little, who gave me that text yesterday and say, calories don't count on your birthday. What's the calories thing? It's a big fool when it's hot like this. It just weighs on you different. Like, it just weighs on you different.
Starting point is 00:04:09 And I, you know, I ate like a protein bowl sort of clean dinner. But then, yeah, it was fudge. It was chocolate cake, bro. Like, let me have it, you know. So we did that. And I'm there. Bill and Bennett asked me, he says, how valuable would an old Jerry taggey or Tony Davis tearaway jersey be today?
Starting point is 00:04:31 I've said a hundred times. I don't understand why they aren't selling them in full. And shout out to Tony Davis. He was really happy birthday yesterday. bless his heart. It made a point to do so. Appreciate you. And he's going in one of the bowl game,
Starting point is 00:04:49 Halls of Fame for his performance. But yeah, I think all the old heads should just go and buy taggy jerseys and wear them. Give that man his flowers, as a matter of fact. Like, there needs to be more Jerry Taggy love in Lincoln. In full. I'm a member of that club.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Box neighbor says, mesh Calvin Jones jersey. I think that's fantastic. I'm a member. And I'm a jersey guy. Like I love, I have some of my favorite jerseys. I have an old American Basketball Association, Julius Irving, Dr. J. Virginia Squires jersey, number 32.
Starting point is 00:05:36 I do have an old Sammy Baugh, Redskins 33, to go along with, I have all the quarterbacks from the Redskins, quite frankly. I have Sonny Jurgensen's 9, Billy Kilmer, Doug into 17, Kilman to 17, I have a Thaisman, and I have a Ripin. I have a Ripin. And yes, I went and got a Daniels. I have a Daniels jersey. I have Jane Daniels's jersey.
Starting point is 00:06:01 So there's that. I love the old-fashioned jerseys. I have an old Larry Brown Redskins, 43, a Charlie Taylor. I got, they're retiring the art monk. So I was sent a Hall of Fame art monk jersey. And please let me just remind people that he is one of the five best receivers to ever do this. Stop it with your nonsense. Tortured in waiting as long as he did to get in.
Starting point is 00:06:32 And the fact that Gary Clark isn't in is my own thing. I have an authentic. It's the only one I own. Well, no, that's not true. I have two Cowboys jerseys. I have to believe it meant. One is my friend Charles Haley, Virginia boy, you know, James Madison.
Starting point is 00:06:49 He would be in my bar 10 weeks out of the year, Bach. You know, Charles Hilly just sitting there and he brought me a Cowboys 94 and I still have it. And then a Pearson for obvious reasons, several reasons why I have a 20. Pearson because that's what I wore in high school. I wore number 26 in a very black and blue and gray cowboy-esque jersey because that's what we wore in high school.
Starting point is 00:07:17 And so I picked, they said, Pearson, what number do you want to wear? Year one, I was playing more receiver than running back. So I wore 88. The senior year, I wore 26. Junior and senior, I wore 26. So what do you think about the rules that some jersey? efficient I also put it out there that you can't wear the jersey of somebody who is younger than you. How many jersees do you have people younger than you?
Starting point is 00:07:41 Oh, Daniels. Well, I mean, think about it. Everybody's younger than me. I'm 63. Well. What are you talking about? What are you talking about? I have to wear a rich Glover jersey just like to be falling in that category.
Starting point is 00:07:55 That means literally I could only wear throwbacks, which I'm a fan of throwbacks. And I'm like I have a bunch of Negro league jerseys. So I love, I have a satchel page, Josh Gibson, like I have Jackie Montreal, Jackie's Dodger. I'm a full fan. I love sleeveless. We had the idea that Nebraska needs to go back to the sleeveless jerseys with the red. You wear the scarlet underneath.
Starting point is 00:08:21 But the sleeveless vest kind of jersey, I think Major League Baseball should have a day where all of their teams wear the sleeveless throwback. I think it's a market. genius to have them all wear because my favorite jersey for all of those teams. I have a, and people talking to Astros throwback, but I have the Astros throwback. I have the Houston Colt 45s. Before they were the Astros, they were the Colt 45s. And Bach, let me tell you, that is a gorgeous, gorgeous jersey.
Starting point is 00:08:56 Just gorgeous. But my favorite Oakland A's jersey, and I love that. the A's. But I love the, I have a Reggie Jackson sleeveless A's jersey. And I love it so much. Giants have sleeveless. Again, the pirates, I have the Clemente 21, sleeveless. It's a work of art. It's a work of art. I don't know that the Yankees ever did sleeveless. Text line, please let me know if they have, and if they have, I'm going to find it. I'm going to find it. But if for one game this year, let it be Houston Christian.
Starting point is 00:09:43 Go back to the midriff mesh. Or maybe do it for Michigan. Go back to that. Go back to that. Bach, are you a fan of the N or the number, the jersey number on the helmet? Like for one game, you wouldn't be offended if Nebraska went throwback and put the numbers on the helmets again. Not anymore. Right, right?
Starting point is 00:10:08 When they first started doing alternates, that was kind of a big deal. Now, alternates have taken over, so absolutely not. Now, the only rules for Jersey, I mean, there are Jersey rules. Like, if you can get authentic getting. And again, that's me being a Jersey snob. Not everybody wants to do that. And your ability to do that. But listen, if you tuck your jersey in, I'm going to fight you.
Starting point is 00:10:29 I'm going to fight you. If you tuck your jersey into your jeans, I'm going to fight you. I'm going to fight you. Stop doing it. What is that? Stop doing it. You just don't like the look? Oh, it is a crime.
Starting point is 00:10:41 High level crime. High level crime. 5162 says this. The only jersey rule I follow is don't get a current player unless it's funny. My closet is full of Larry Byrden, Greg old, Greg Oden type jersey. Yeah, like Greg Oden is hilarious. That is like, I love, so I have a Ricky Vaughn, Jersey from from major like i i will go get water boy
Starting point is 00:11:05 boucher oh yeah like i'm a fan of any right any of the remember the titans jerseys um i one of my favorite jerseys was a brian piccolo a bryan piccolo throwback and you know it's a bears bryan piccolo throwback because the numbers are elongated so the 41 is really stretched i have a sayers i love the pittsburgh long sleeve, like the Cowboys long sleeve with the star on the elbow? Oh, it, oh, oh, give me all the feels, baby.
Starting point is 00:11:41 Give me all the feels. Browns, listen, if you're a Browns fan and you don't have a Jim Brown long sleeve or an autograph long sleeve, what are you even doing with your fan? And my buddy's, my buddy has, he has stores across the country. So when I need a jersey, that's who I go to and I don't pay, you know, $200 for a jersey. He hooks me up and I think they're all like $99. But I still, like I have a long-sleeved Jim Brown, number 32, with no name on the back.
Starting point is 00:12:13 Like I love that. I love NBA jerseys, I had an old New York Knicks or Willis Reed because the jersey, I have a Baltimore, Earl of Pearl Monroe. I have a Winston-Salem state. Earl the Pearl. Nice. I love him. I love him.
Starting point is 00:12:39 Right? Yeah. You're right. 8985 says this. I don't even like tucking your dress shirts, alone jerseys. Yeah, oh my God.
Starting point is 00:12:47 Oh, my God is right. That is my reaction to it. Who hurt you? Who hurt you? You need a hug. You need a hug and then a punch. So if you tuck in New Jersey, if I see you on game day,
Starting point is 00:13:01 with a football jersey, tucked into your pants. I'm going to walk up to you. I'm going to hug you, but I'm going to step on your shoes. I'm going to stop your foot. I'm just letting you know in advance. Simple deal. With a word of break, we'll close out. One-on-one gets you all set up for black and a black shirt here on the team.
