You're listening to One-on-One with D.P.
Presented by Beatrice Bakery on 93-7 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com.
It's like a jungle sometimes.
It makes me wonder how to keep him going under.
Final segment.
One-on-one, the captain's show, will follow.
It's been a crazy week.
It's only Tuesday.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I believe the Carrecker comes on with him.
on Tuesdays at 12 noon
and maybe my booker is today
not tomorrow
not yesterday
was Booker on yesterday?
No so maybe that's the chance
he had Prince on yesterday
maybe he switched Booker and Prince
yeah I just realized that so
I was confused I was like wait is it Tuesday
because Prince was on
if you don't know if you missed
again I keep telling you folks
just lock in and listen
that if you missed the captain show yesterday
uh Prince came on and he
corrected a thing that we've been saying his name wrong.
It's not amukamara.
It's amicamara.
Amicamara.
And we've been saying it wrong forever.
No, he said that's how his parents say it.
But when they came to America, it's amokamara.
Amukamara.
Amukamara.
Yeah.
That's just how people said it.
It was easier for them to say.
Right.
You know, it's the thing we were, it's like,
Literally the thing we were just talking about, right?
That is why people call me Rico.
Yeah, yeah, because they can't make it.
They refuse.
Wow, that's fantastic to break that story.
So we'll see what he's got.
I'm sure he'll come around and the door here momentarily.
It is Tuesday on one-on-one, and we'd like to do a thing.
And I want to thank the listener that texted in yesterday and suggested that we do said thing.
But on Tuesday, we would choose somebody that we want to.
make smile somebody that we want to let them know that they're being thought of and they're being
considered uh and the text line sent in this depa if you would please would like to nominate
alonzo verge and the verge family for the care package from beatrice bakery a couple of things
that young man has had a very interesting up and down season why he came here was to help
Nebraska be better. The results have not followed, but the work has been put in.
Saturday, on his way to the arena, as they prepared for Rutgers, he found out that his
aunt had passed away. And after discussion with Fred Hoyberg, decided that he should probably
sit out Saturday's game. So he donned street clothes and stood and supported his teammates.
as they took on Rutgers and there.
In the meanwhile, there were folks on social media and other
who questioned young man
and made up stories or spread rumors about why he was not playing.
And in his greatest time of need here,
he had to deal with some nonsense.
And whether you like the way he plays the game of basketball
or other,
he is still a Nebraska Husker.
And I think it would be apropro for us to send that young man
something that says Husker Nation is behind him,
they support him,
and they see him in his moment of pain and his moment of loss.
I think the real simple thing for us all to do is to say,
to Mr. Verge Jr., we got your back.
You're not alone.
You're not going through it alone.
You can't turn this thing into a venom machine.
I won't allow it in my space and in our space.
What I hope is that we stand up and remember
that we're supposed to be here for each other,
and that young man needs Husker Nation behind him
at the loudest level possible.
He lost a family member.
Fred Hoyberg made a remarkable decision
and simply saying,
hey, don't play, take the night off.
So, courtesy of Beatrice Bakery,
we will send a care package to Alonzo Verge Jr.
Let him know that he's being thought of
and considered.
There's that.
Simple deal.
Simple deal.
Be better going forward, do better going forward,
because it's the right thing to do.
That is what I'm told is the Nebraska way.
Let that marinate for a second.
For Sean Jackson, Captain Cho.
Up next on 93-7, the ticket.
Stay tuned, buckle up.
It'll be a good one.
