Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to One-on-One with DP, brought you by Canopy Street Market, on 93-7 the ticket and the ticketfm.com. Yeah, I, Bach and I are talking about stadiums. He asked about closure field, and I felt that the stadium doesn't matter if the teams are good. The stadium only comes up as being dilapidated, or antiquated if the team isn't playing well. Most people don't talk about Memorial Stadium. You don't have to talk about renovating it because for the longest time,
Starting point is 00:00:55 the games are so good, the teams are so good. You didn't care. It was a party. Like, nobody cares if the frat house isn't well kept. There's a cool, really good party there every Saturday.
Starting point is 00:01:06 And you're going to have a good time. And, you know, if you rough it up a little bit, you don't particularly care. If it's a new stadium, you've got to take care of it. And I consider it.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Right, like, you know, but if the party sucks and they're running out of beer and the band's terrible, that friend house is going to get wrapped, man. People are just going to, that stunk. And so I think that's a big part of how we measure stadiums, right? That think about like USC playing at the Coliseum is not a great, there's not a great advantage for it. right it's not a great like it it's not close to the field um you don't really have access it's all the space between you and the sideline and the track and all that sort of stuff right and for whoever the architect was that spent that that that sent a generation of football fans into having to watch football from track a track field distance away like you kept putting tracks in
Starting point is 00:02:13 front of it. We want to get close to the action, man. What do you do it? But if the team is good, it's a great venue. As somebody said the other day, the big house isn't a great stadium, but you're always winning and it's the teams are good. The history behind a lot of it. Right. Like it's okay, the horseshoe. It's not an exceptional stadium. Like, are, me. I think that's a big part of it, right? What's the best stadium you've been? Oh, Memorial Stadium. Best game experience.
Starting point is 00:02:51 No, I say Memorial Stadium is always one of my favorites with Nebraska, but I'm biased. But, you know, I would say similar kind of thoughts to the Rose Bowl. I think the Rose Bowl, it probably carries this conversation better than any. It's not exceptional. There's nothing really exceptional about. It's just the history there is very. Fantastic. And so it's a bowl.
Starting point is 00:03:15 It's a bowl. It's a very, it's a bowl stadium. Right. There's no back to seat backs. Like you're sitting on a bleacher from most of the stadium. And it's built in the old fashion of bowling up and away from the field. And that if you find a stadium, like they're talking about Northwestern's new stadium, is that the seat that's furthest away will be 200 feet from.
Starting point is 00:03:43 from the field. The average seat will be less than 40 yards away from the sideline. And I'm really intrigued with that one because that is one thing that I have, I kind of have mixed feelings about it is because in a way, when you go to those, you know, I've been to Kansas states, the Iowa states in a way when you go to those stadiums that only hold like 60,000
Starting point is 00:04:05 people, there's not a bad seat in the house compared to Memorial Stadium, right? Like, you can sit at the very top and it's like you're in the mid level of Memorial Stadium, which is pretty solid. And now this Northwestern one, there's only 30,000 people, and it's very much built just for those 30,000 people
Starting point is 00:04:21 to have the prime experience. I can't wait to see what that looks like. Yeah, Scooter's from Broca says Lambeau feels awesome. It's because it's the back. If you put the bear, if you put the Boers team in the NFL in there, there's nothing. No, this is not the show.
