Back to one-on-one with D.P.
Presented by Beatrice Bakeray on 93-7 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com.
Welcome back. It's One Nation under love.
Under positive, under good.
From the impact of influence and the success chronicles,
my guest today is my brother Chip Baker.
What's your dance move to One Nation undergrew?
I know you got one.
you know right now it's just a head bomb
next time
next time you and I do this I do want you to stream in
I want you to video stream in
so the folks can share in your joy
and and all the good that is Chip Baker
super producer Rico and I were talking during the break
and I pointed out a thing
and I wanted him to pause for a second
and to go through the book processes.
So you would choose a concept
and you would choose a group of coaches and educators
to be a part of this compilation.
And then people will think that that's the end of it,
that the writing, once the assignment is there,
the writing is done.
But I was explaining to Rico,
the beauty of this thing is through four volumes.
What happens once he taps you on the shoulder
and says you're in the game
is that for the six,
months before the book is released, we then get together on a regular basis for these blocks
of 60 and 90 minutes.
And it's iron and sharpening iron, love sharpening love, because we share stories and messages
and pathways.
Is that a fair breakdown of what happens in these things?
You're right.
And that's the beauty of it.
I mean, you know, one thing, it's cool.
Like you said, it's cool.
yeah, book, author, the bestselling, that's all of that's neat.
But going into it, what I really didn't know that we would get out of it is the value of the
the brotherhood, the sisterhood, you know, the ladies, the connection that we would have
with the opportunities.
And so what it allows us to do is it allows us to learn, live, and grow together, you know.
And so, like, just hearing, you know, the stories of those, for example, your story,
when you tell your story to other people, that allows me to, you know, go deeper with deep feet.
Yeah.
You know, and then, you know, there's some certain things that come up that are positive triggers for it.
And I'll just paint you this picture, this example.
There's one guy that, uh, when we did one of our launches, this guy went all.
Yeah.
Oh, wait, that's you.
I mean, man, this guy went in on them like he does all the time, right?
But I didn't get to warn the, like I know.
But I didn't get to warn the audience, hey, guys, it's going to be hot.
Hey, guys, you got to get your pen and paper ready because you're going to have to take some notes.
Hey, guys, at the end of this, you will be transformed.
because, you know, we strive for transformational experiences and not just transaction.
And so that's what it's been, it's been transformation experiences for all of us, you know, not just the readers, not just the authors and not just the publishers, but everybody that's involved with it, you know, our goal is for you to be better because of the experience that you have with us.
We are smarter and more connected every single time.
we get together in a space.
Yes.
And this is where I said, and once you're a coach, you're always a coach,
but Chip is coached to a bunch of coaches.
And that's our job, that when we get in together, we coach each other.
And I want you to have some of those things that have provided success for me
and for you to share your successes, your lessons, those things that happen.
And our listeners don't get that version of me, quite frankly.
Chip, they don't, Rico gets it, but they don't get it.
And it's sad because I said, if I really wanted to help Nebraska athletics,
I would bring in Chip Baker and any collection of his coaches
and have them speak to the coaches here because they would be better for it.
Well, I don't, I'm going to just put, I'm going to just say it like this in your response.
I have a pen in my hand right now.
Sign me up.
I'm on the way.
Let me know.
Let's get it.
Yeah.
Because it's an opportunity for coaches and athletes from Texas or from Carolina or from
California or from California, wherever.
Like your authors and your coaches are from all over the country.
And what we get to is we get beyond the regional stuff.
and then we get to the universal stuff.
Come on.
Right?
Like the things that work in Texas can work in Nebraska,
can work in California, can work in Florida,
because we've gotten to the common thing that works in coaching
and in athletics.
You get to speak at colleges, high schools all over the area,
all over the country.
What is the common thing that people are reaching out to you?
you for?
You know, with our times now, you know, kind of COVID is thrown us all to a loop.
I think now we're kind of a good thing like the rubber band effect.
You know, when you get pulled and you get stretched.
Now, when you shoot, you're going to shoot fly, shoot high.
You know, you're going to fly high.
Like when you pull it back and you're stretching, there's some things that, ooh, this
hurt.
This is uncomfortable.
What am I learning from this?
And now coming into it, you know, we just need.
to have the awareness to know that, like, we're okay.
You know, we need to have the awareness to know that, you know,
we've learned some things from that experience that really has made us better
to teach us how to move more efficiently and effectively.
You know, it gives us that awareness to know that, man, love is love.
Coaching is coaching.
Hard work is hard work.
You know?
Taking care of people is taking care of people.
It's the fundamentals.
And I'm going to share this example with you.
As a coach, you know, I've had the privilege of being able to coach, you know,
watch a practice or be at something where I've seen all levels of the game, right?
And I coached the O-line, right?
So, you know, in junior, how there's certain O-line drills that we do, right?
So, you know, going in my profession, then in high school, it was the same O-line drills, right?
Okay, so then check out colleges, go to some of their, you know, spring practices, watch the O-line.
It's the same drill.
Oh, wait, wait, wait.
So there's a couple of proteins, you know, I'm at their practices.
You know, watch.
It's the same drills.
Now, the different levels look different.
They look smooth, or they're bigger, they're fast and stronger.
But it's the same fundamental drill.
So that tells me that the fundamentals is where it's at, right?
It don't matter what's going on, the storm, whatever changes.
And we can hunker down and hang tight to our core, common fundamentals,
we're going to be all right.
And that's what it's been about, Coach D.P.
Well, and love and positive is everything that moves you.
Yes.
How is that, how have you managed to keep that connected to the coaching and the educating?
It's been my life.
You know, I told you I finished 23 years.
I just finished my 23rd year in education.
I'm a fourth generation educator.
So the people that have come before me, that's what I saw.
that's all I know.
I know that love and positivity works.
Hold on, let me say that again.
I don't know if anybody.
Love and positivity works.
And what I mean by that is if you love what you do,
love yourself enough to push yourself to be the best version of yourself, right?
and be positive in that, have a positive mindset,
just like we talked about earlier,
that oozes out of you, right?
Even when you don't intend for it to,
like, it oozes out of you,
and everyone around you receives the love.
They're taught how to love and be positive,
and then now it changes their atmosphere.
You're not just the, ooh,
you're not just the thermometer.
You're the thermostat.
Hey.
Right?
And you change the environment.
And then now it goes on and it lasts for generations and generations to come.
And you touch people.
You never even had an idea that you would touch all because you decide to love
and be positive about loving.
And that's, I know it works.
And so that's all I know.
That's what I do.
And I'm going to continue to do that.
that you, sir, are affecting people you're never going to meet.
You're impacting people that, because you've reached kids in Utah,
you've reached kids in Virginia, you've reached kids in Georgia,
and you're never going to meet them,
you're never going to get to enjoy the fruit of the seed you plant it.
But that's why we're here.
And I just want to do a roll call on this particular,
for Volume 4 of the impact of Influent.
This is a roll call of some pretty impressive coaches and educators.
Armando DeCento, Charles Woods down there in Texas, Deirdre Vasquez, Derek Rush, of course,
a big-time athlete who's now an educator and a leader, Derek Coontz.
Also, Greg Robinson, Haaster Breezy back in Virginia, Jason Haddock, Jessica Perez,
who, Jay Lowe, who might be my new favorite person.
by the way.
Maggie Wellem,
Mani Trujillo,
Royce Selecha,
Tamika Newman, Taylor Cobb,
and Tyrone Void.
And of course, the leader and
Guider, mentor,
director of the ship,
North Star, Chip Baker.
How about that?
That's quite a lineup, sir.
Well done.
It's awesome.
I don't know.
It's,
it blow, like I said it early, it continues to blow me away.
And like you said, like every one of those people have had amazing experiences.
You know, what I need to do is go through and calculate the years of experience that we all have.
Oof.
Yeah, and, yeah, coaching, that's what I need to do and share that with people because I know,
I know, like, it'll trip some people out once they hear.
Well, I mean, just think about it.
of the 16 coaches, not even coolly said,
the 17 coaches at an average of about 20 years each.
Right, right, right.
Right, like, come on, man.
That's some deep water to get into.
And again, it's not just wins and losses.
The wins and losses are a byproduct of the love
and positive leading that these coaches provide.
Amen.
I'm just amazing.
let them know how they can find you on social media,
kind sir.
Yes, sir.
So all of my social media is at Chip Baker T-S-C,
as in the Success Chronicles,
except for Twitter,
and my Twitter is Chip Baker-19.
And so I'd ask that you would please go check out
some of the positive inspiration and motivation.
I also ask that you would please go out and show
all of the authors of the impact of influence or series
like Coach that would just drop a volume
four. They all have been bestsellers.
You know, four volumes.
Just amazing people.
I ask that you would look them up, go show them some love, and you won't be disappointed
because I'm telling you, like, I learn from them every moment of every day because I follow
them and I do that, and you won't be disappointed as well.
There are shirts, hats, pullovers, books.
There are three words that you have empowered and enabled.
Anybody that accepts these three words, it is the Chip Baker mantra.
It is how he lives and it is the thing that he gives people on a day-to-day person-by-person basis.
We will close out this interview with those three words, Chip Baker, if you would please give it to him.
Go get it.
Go get it.
I love you to me.
I love you to pieces, Chip Baker, man.
Thank you for taking me on this journey.
Thank you for what you do for others.
And again, we'll shout out Sugar Ray Destin Jr.
For what he does for all of us.
Chip Baker, you are a grand, great North Star.
Thank you for what you do, who you are, and how you do it.
Thank you, Coach D.P., I appreciate you.
Thanks for having me on the ticket.
We'll do it again soon.
There it is, Chip Baker from the Success Chronicles and the Impact of Influence.
If you want a copy, I'm going to hold it up on the video stream.
I actually have the first copy.
and I do, I have to tell you that the pre-order stuff didn't have the gold Amazon badge on it,
but it is a bestseller.
So anything that is sent out after this, we'll have the gold badge on it.
If you want it signed, let me know.
You could just reach out to me on social media or just call the station or come by the station
and we'll make it happen for you.
But the impact of influence, volume four, don't get it from Amazon, get it from me,
get it from Chip.
You can do either or.
that way we can sign it and personally deliver it.
So it's been a great weekend.
Bestseller status on Amazon, good stuff.
And it's 17 amazing stories of great coaches and their great coaches.
If you're coaching today, what you want to aspire to is that years from now,
somebody would be willing to say these things about you.
That's the mission.
We'll close out 101 and get you all set up for the captain's show here on the ticket.
Live on Facebook, YouTube, or Twitch.
You're listening to One-on-One with DP on 937 The Ticket and The Ticketfm.com.
