to one-on-one with DP.
Sponsored by the Downtown Lincoln Foundation on 93-7 the ticket.
We are back here on one-on-one on 93-7.
The ticket.
Thanks for joining us today.
We talked lots of Nebraska basketball and, of course, Dylan Rihler, committing to Oregon.
And there will be plenty more of that talk throughout the rest of the day.
Unfortunately, a little bit of a short segment as we've got to get ready for Adam Cariker coming in.
As DP says, the big man is shaking the walls.
he will be in in just a second.
So I do want to wrap it up because we tease this and quickly,
I get your thoughts because you mentioned it.
And so I want to get your thoughts on the longevity that you feel like Nebraska basketball has.
You mentioned the roster earlier,
but the belief that Fred Hoyberg,
this isn't one and done big time surprise.
Maybe this is Nebraska basketball in or near the top 25 is something to stick around.
I mean, honestly, guys, I think, I think they're,
we're about to see a movement.
I really do think we're about to see a shift
in how much Oscar fans
want Fred Hoyberg to,
and want to be rest assured
that he has the resources necessary
and that he's needed.
Because I think that Fred has instilled this confidence
in comfort in Nebraska fans
that money won't be mismanaged.
I think that Nebraska fans,
and this is just in the day and age that we're in,
Nebraska fans look at other programs and go, okay, there's so much investment.
There's so much investment.
And without the results, you sometimes question whether or not things are being spent
in the right areas or being spent to the best.
And are you maximizing dollars?
And I think Fred Hoyberg has shown that in these last two seasons especially, but
really putting on blast this year is he's maximized his dollars that he's been allowed
to use.
and I look at Indiana football.
I know there's been a lot of, you know,
comical comparisons between Indiana football
and Nebraska basketball block.
But Mark Cuban, who is Indiana's now biggest booster,
what did he do?
He gave him a little slice of bread.
He said, all right, Kurt, I'll give you a little bit, right?
And show me what you can do with it.
And now here they are in the national championship.
And so what did Mark Cuban say?
He said, okay, whatever you need, I got you.
It's, you got to show, you got to show us
before we just blindly provide.
And I think Nebraska fans feel like they've maybe blindly provided
for the football program the last multiple years,
predating Matt Rule, predating, 2021 and on.
And they feel like maybe they haven't gotten the return on investment.
And then you look at the program,
the basketball program and say,
okay, for a fraction of what you're injecting into that football program,
we can inject into the basketball program.
And we feel like maybe we're going to get,
get a better return on investment because there's a lot more trust, I feel like,
in Fred Hoyberg and his staff to maybe maximize dollars and not spend it in the wrong areas.
Yeah.
And if you look to again, a little bit of what he's done at Iowa State previously, once he got
them to the tournament, even the round of 32 in 2011, 2011, 2012, his next three years there,
same type of deal.
Round of 32, Sweet 16, round of 64.
Something to look out for it today.
His Iowa State team has never got above number eight at, you know, in Ames.
AP poll's got to be coming out in the next couple of minutes.
Gotta be coming out soon.
So we'll see if he gets higher than that.
What's your projection, Bach?
I think, unfortunately, nobody lost in front of Nebraska's set of, except Michigan.
That's right.
And Michigan won't fall all the way to 10.
Right.
So I think Nebraska's going to stay at 10 would be my guess.
Oh, really.
Well, nobody lost.
Two road wins don't get you moved up.
Get out of here, Bob.
Maybe, maybe.
I mean, but the thing is everybody in front of Nebraska that has one loss,
is there because they've played pretty good competition.
I was looking through everybody's records.
There might have been one that maybe equitable to Nebraska's schedule to this point.
But hold on.
I don't know.
Okay.
Could be wrong.
Okay, hold on.
We're looking at this real quick.
Go ahead and you can play out music.
Here's the deal.
Okay.
So I think Nebraska will be eighth in the new pool.
Here is why.
Because this last week, I value two road wins against Indiana and Ohio.
state above two home wins for Gonzaga over Loyola, Merrimount, and Santa Clara.
And I value two road wins over Indiana and Ohio State over two home wins for BYU over Arizona
State and Utah.
But go look at their non-cutt is what I'm talking about.
You know, they're all worried about this last week.
Are we worried about the entirety of the season?
That's what I'm thinking.
It depends on what you're looking at.
Either way, they're topped in.
Give us number eight.
I would take it.
Then wrap it up for one-on-one.
Adam Carrick, coming up next.
Thank you.
