Starting point is 00:01:12 All right, I thought I'd let you know, too. I've been trying to keep on the boom for one-on-one. They told me I'm not as good at it, but that's right. It's the first couple of tips. I understood. This show today is sponsored by Hamilton Telecommunications, bringing you the latest quality technology and communications. services since 1901 whether it's residential or business hamilton has the answer visit hamilton tell
Starting point is 00:01:34 dot com for more info today thank you kind so greatly appreciate it 1103 in the city 103 40 degrees higher temperatures today than expected so if you have some running around to do and you just want to get some fresh air it'd be a great time to do that great time to do that uh First of all, how are you, kind of sir? I'm doing pretty well. All things considered, it's a roller coaster of a week, since I've stocked you last, but a roller coaster of emotions through Husker sports,
Starting point is 00:02:10 but I think I'm coming out all right so far. Yeah. You think? Daily check-in, what's the latest news? Yeah, you know, I mean, the things you have to know that we wake up, all the pieces are there, right? Like, all the pieces are there, not sure that they're all working. but we we we go forth until they tell us they're not um it's that thing i'm at that age where
Starting point is 00:02:33 where there it really is weather based uh there's some days i just wake up and and and i will make a noise and just go wow that that was not i went straight from dad noise to granddad noise um and i have to catch myself uh if you're traveling over the holidays can I just tell you to plan to take earlier flights than you normally would because the likelihood that you get out on time
Starting point is 00:03:05 especially if you're connecting somewhere if you're flying direct good luck okay cool you'll be you're more likely because you only need for them to get it right once but if you're flying a connector flight if you're flying out of Lincoln that's a big thing
Starting point is 00:03:20 right you have to give more time Because, quite frankly, it's a chaos. It's a zoo. And even coming back from D.C., getting out of D.C. was not easy. So bad to the point. Okay. So can I rant here? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Okay. So I posted this yesterday. What is it about people who believe that the rules are for everybody else except for them? Right? Like, and it's in two cases, right? Well, several cases. One, there's a guy that's going through TSA, and they've got the signs there, right? You know, TSA pre-check, yeah, yeah, yeah, normal lane, otherwise.
Starting point is 00:04:06 And a guy gets in the TSA pre-check line, gets all the way through, right? Because that line is shorter and it's more expedited. But he gets in that line and gets to the counter. And. The agent goes, but you're not, you haven't been approved for TSA pre-check. And he goes, yeah, but I'm here. Like, you could just as easily just let me, let me through. And he goes, that's not how this works.
Starting point is 00:04:34 The TSA people have gone through a process to be pre-approved with this line and this service. If you have not, then you can't because there's a risk involved. And the guy, you know, he full board. So you expect me to go all the way back out and go around and get in the back of that line. I'm going to miss my flight, and he said, sir, you chose to get in this line that you didn't belong in. Well, but I, I'm short on time. So the poor agent, and then finally he has to call security on the guy. Then we get in, so I get through TSA and I'm sitting at my gate, and there's a guy who, he has a backpack, and something else.
Starting point is 00:05:16 But he leaves the backpack to go to the bathroom. he just leaves the backpack. And literally there happened to be a security guy standing, you know, feet away, several feet away. And the guy, the security guy's like, well, and he looks at me, Bach, he gives me the Jordan hands up like, well, like, you saw that. And I'm like, I don't have anything to do with it.
Starting point is 00:05:46 But, you know, it's coming. and I know it's coming. And Bach, I literally pondered, do I get up and leave to avoid this? Because if I sit there, I'm somehow going to be drawn into it. But if, so I'm just going, listen, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:05 I got through, I'm at my gate, I'll chill. Guy comes back and his bag is gone. Bag is God. Now, the security guy, you know, he's got a sense of humor.
Starting point is 00:06:16 So he takes the bag and hands it to another security guy, right? Because, again, I'm bag standing. So they have protocol. They're supposed to scan it and go through it and all that sort of stuff. So imagine you left your bag. You go to the bathroom, you come back. Your bag's been moved and the security people going through it.
Starting point is 00:06:34 And he goes, what do you got, what are you doing? Like, he asked what are you doing in my bag? Well, sir, the rule is, and the announcements verify that you are not to leave your bag anywhere. take it with you wherever you go take it with you and he goes yeah but i was only going the bathroom he goes there's no disclaimer in the announcement go take your bag with you he goes okay well if anything's missing i'm gonna be and the guys the security guys like well if everything in the bag bit that much so you would have taken it with you sir the rules apply to everybody and the guy's looking he's looking at me like that guy saw me leave my bag and i'm again palms to the
Starting point is 00:07:16 guy. I got nothing to do with it. I got nothing to do with this. Like, my name's Paul. That's between y'all. Like, yeah, my name's Bennett and I'm not in it. Y'all go ahead and do what you got to do. And the guy's like, I don't understand. And he goes, sir, that's the rule. That's the rule and the policy. Well, who do I need to talk to? He goes, well, I'm the guy. So then it becomes this thing, right, that you start to notice all of those people. Like, so the people who are on the phone, on the plane, right as it's taking off. Oh, yeah. And you, everybody knows, right?
Starting point is 00:08:00 Everybody knows because the announcements just happened. They just announced, they just told you, hey, uh, no, let's try to do this. But of course, so, Bach, the people who are on the phone, on the plane, I try not to judge. I fail often, but I kind of go, oh, like to be that important that you have to have the last minute phone call. Oh, yeah. But you're hearing the call, and it's like, bro, we get it. You have a job. Like, everybody else, we have jobs.
Starting point is 00:08:39 We're cool. Like, we get it. And the self-importance. and the, the, the attendant walks up and he's, he's giving her the back of the hand wave, right? And you just want to go, oh, no, oh, no, because what's going to happen, Bach? There's going to be an issue. Yeah. He's going to delay again.
Starting point is 00:09:00 He's going to delay it again. Like, we're going to get delayed again. And it's like, bro, we just spent two hours being delayed. We're on the plane now. You had two hours to have whatever conversation. you were going to have, it's not that important. And you get to the point where they're literally going to pull him out of the point. And I'm just going, oh, man, like, okay.
Starting point is 00:09:24 But then you're Bach, then villain Derek shows up. And it's like, I'm starting to root for them, get him. We're already where we are. Like, I went beyond being the nice guy, right? You just go, get him. off the plane this self-important knucklehead get him off the plane but then i was like no d p that's not that's not your vibe so leave it alone um so finally you know he he turns off the phone and um you know there were several points of course he had the the the the uh the seat back down and
Starting point is 00:10:04 you have put put it up for take it off and of course he yeah what do he mean oh he didn't want to do that either right because he's got a tablet he's got a tablet he's got a tablet he's got to tablet on the other on the so people just because like we make a contract with each other to just be respectful of each other people's time and noise and space like just come on like we're we're kind of just all trying to get through uh don't be that guy just don't don't don't be that guy um To tell you, Cina's last, last, last match,
Starting point is 00:10:45 Bach, several things in play. Maybe the best wrestling room I've ever been in. The best pre-match, so all the events, they did, Bach, they did four hours of a fan fest. And so all the people that you saw
Starting point is 00:11:04 there, all the wrestlers, they all made appearances outside. and you know shook hands and took you know did pictures in the whole champagne um and they had the stage the pre-show stage that that was outside the arena and so people were standing around and you get to cheer and yell and take pictures and get autographs and all that sort of thing um and they did a great job with like food trucks and it was pretty amazing um they had a sign making station oh nice they should do that everywhere right like it was it was it was really good like especially i mean you know like i thought that the kids would be making the most signs no no those were grown folks box
Starting point is 00:11:47 they listen and they were they were taking their time and getting creative and the kids didn't understand like hurry up mister see i think the wrestling signs aren't supposed to be like too creative or like a lot of time put into them they're just supposed to be like ugly stupid sayings if you put up oh bach silly man you silly silly man do you know how much work a pro wrestling fan will put it to a sign well you always hope you'll be wrecked you'll get on made on tv or i am sure i am sure that they spent less time uh on their on their on their on the college thesis then they did on this w w cina sign i just let you know It was, and they had like five tables and every color marker you could imagine.
Starting point is 00:12:43 And, oh, they did a thing, Bach, where they had paper championship belts, cardboard-ish, right? So a little bit washed out that you could color. Oh. You said it. Yeah. Uh-oh. Uh-oh.
Starting point is 00:13:03 Uh-oh. That's going to be a line. Oh, Bach. Oh, it was so, listen. Listen, chef's kiss funny. Like, just, this is brilliant. And again, the number of adults and the amount of time spent coloring in, this, I just went, this is amazing, this is the greatest study of humanity in one place.
Starting point is 00:13:30 And it was, you know, it was the usual event that there's a lawyer next to a doctor, next to a fireman, next to construction. construction work like it literally like everybody was there yeah um and they all paid well and the crowd was just on fire the whole time through and then bach the finish the finish the guy behind me described it as such he goes i don't understand you throw this amazing dinner you you cook everything from scratch you invite over 20 of your favorite people you all dance and consume and it's amazing and right as you're about to leave you take a poop in the living room floor he goes he goes that's what we just experienced and he stood Bach in perfect form he stood he just
Starting point is 00:14:31 would it have killed you to let the guy win? He goes, he goes, we know you wrote the script. You could have let the guy win for Christ's sake. You can see the Delvige and brought together. That's what I was mostly interested in is, did you join in in the anti-Trivel-H chance?
Starting point is 00:14:56 They were very audible. Oh, the first of all, the anti-Gooleged. I was like, oh, this is how I know I'm amongst my people. That is, I'm home. These are my people. And then I didn't, you know, Bach, you're the perfect person to have this conversation. That we know that they can write Gunter, whatever way they want to write him Monday night.
Starting point is 00:15:29 Right. literally they could write him in to be the biggest heel to get the most heat they literally could write this right because they had a party specifically
Starting point is 00:15:43 for him and his fans and when I tell you the number of people who flew from London, Australia Italy there are various parts of the country Canada, Mexico
Starting point is 00:15:57 people had flown by people had flown it because this is their hero. Yeah. And you know, these are people that whether, you know, the Make a Wish Foundation, the people that, like these folks. And
Starting point is 00:16:12 no matter what you, whatever old rules, right, and you and I have had these conversations about the unwritten rules and the ones that make me punch ghosts, right? It's just to go, that's a stupid unwritten rule. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:27 that somehow you're supposed to, the wrestler is supposed to leave it better for the next guy, right? Yeah. But did he? Did he? And whatever you, whatever you gave him Saturday night, you could give him Monday morning.
Starting point is 00:16:43 You literally could give him Monday morning. We know that. Like, we know that. You could give him Monday morning. And the number of people who were just screaming, like, yeah, won't give us just this one. He goes, it's not like this was a pay-per-view, right? Like, this isn't WrestleMania where there's 10 other matches and this is just part of the world.
Starting point is 00:17:05 No, this is it. This is it, right? This is it. And Thomas Lincoln, that's the best text already. He goes, what up to do you. I saw a clip, and you have to say it like Santino says it, I saw a clip of John Tena. That is another thing. If you want to just make me laugh for 30 minutes,
Starting point is 00:17:30 just play me clips of Santino's morale. Like, just mispronouncing people's name. Yeah, it just, it was interesting, right? Just to go, okay, and everybody, and I said, I don't want, I'm a mark, I'm a wrestling mark. I'm fully a wrestling mark. So I'm really going to go and like, you got me. Like, whatever you wanted me to feel I felt,
Starting point is 00:17:49 and I'm mad about that. But you could have given me just this one. Right, Bob, like, I mean, I know you're a heel guy. Yeah. And you root for the, for the diabolical chaos that happens. But couldn't you have given us just this one? But this is why, and, you know, some people I get it, maybe along the way, you know, stop paying attention to pro wrestling.
Starting point is 00:18:15 But this is why I love it. It's one of the only products that you can walk away from a huge event and go, they're pissed perfect that's exactly what we want right and i just want and i know like i know the history of of you know hbk and rick flair and taker and that dot dot that that that but all of those were done in a pay-per-view that people were coming to see the pay-per-view onto its own this was a tribute this was a tribute the oh you only have to had three other matches and none of them mattered. None of them were relevant, right? You literally put on a vet to celebrate John Cena and to ask people, and let me tell you on ticket
Starting point is 00:19:03 prices, the cheapest get-in ticket for nosebleeds was $480. So the people at the top of the building in a pair paid a grand, even if they lived in D.C., they paid a grand, right? And to tell you the people around us, Bach, the people who sit next to me in Haas paid $3,200 each for their tickets. And they were all in, bro. They had custom made, see the shirts. Oh, no. Oh, it was so good.
Starting point is 00:19:37 It was Bach. And you just, but then a part of, like, part of DP Bach showed up because I'm kind of, I'm looking, like I'm marking people who, when this goes left, that I'm going to pay attention to. Yeah. I know they're going to melt down. and Bach, just like perfect timing, the meltdowns were real,
Starting point is 00:19:57 and they were grown-ups just losing it. And I, Bach, I'm trying not to laugh, but next to me is Hosta Breezy, and he's his. He's his! And I am laughing louder than you are right now. Like, I'm just howling. See, this sounds like a good time to me.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Oh, no. Oh, no. No, no, no. It was spectacular. Because you went and they had to go, but then Bach, so people weren't leaving because they were really tough. And then afterwards, somehow some of the wrestlers came to the crowd to tell them, hey, look, we had no idea what the finish was going to be. We were just as surprised as you were. And we go, okay, but then Bach, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, there's a talent. There's a talent. hall there's like they're so what are we going to do like what are fuck it was like a bad oh they got to do something huh it was like a bad pta meeting and people were just back it was i can't believe that you didn't give us this just and the guy there's this lady i want to say she's like 80 years old 80 years old and she's a seen a fanatic right and she's got this little voice, right? 80-year-old woman voice. And she's like, I can't believe
Starting point is 00:21:28 they just wouldn't give us this one. I'm going to talk, and Bach the perfect guy, I'm going to tell that Hunter off. I'm going to write a soon email. I'm going to talk to the manager. And I am in tears. Then she goes,
Starting point is 00:21:42 and she called him the A word. Out loud. And I just went, oh, this is so good. So then Haas's family came with us, and he's got kids. And his kids were like, listen,
Starting point is 00:21:55 but walking into the building, this is the greatest day of their life. In the building during the matches, greatest day of their life. The finish comes and the kids are like, this sucked. And I have just, I can tell you,
Starting point is 00:22:15 one, from a marketing center, but, you know, chef's kids good. But, you could have given you could have given nobody
Starting point is 00:22:25 literally nobody the building would have been upset if you if you give the other finish or at least I mean the big thing is the guy that told you never to give up the whole time you finish him with them giving up why not at least choke him out you know make him pass out or something
Starting point is 00:22:40 because he wanted you Triple H wanted you to know that this don't belong to you this is my y'all have just invited it in. Like, keep giving your money. Shut up and take what I give you. And it is so funny because I just went, yeah, this is him. It's him letting, like I, and I still get the impression today that not even Hunter knew what the finish was going to be, that John decided in the moment
Starting point is 00:23:10 what the, what the finish was going to be. And just wrong. Just wrong. Well, I had to think about you, too, because as part of this, and you know, we obviously talked wrestling for years, I found out long ago, the two people you hate the most probably in current wrestling close to it are Dirty Tom and Gunther. And who does John Cena give victories over to
Starting point is 00:23:31 on his way out? Dirty Dom and Goonther. To let you know that you are not the boss of me. You fans will just shut up, give me your money and like it. And there's nothing you can do about it.
Starting point is 00:23:47 And I said all of that to say this, Nebraska football. Season renewals coming up soon. Listen, listen, you, ha, Bach, listen, I'm fully enabling anybody. Get your money, boo-boo. Get your money. Get your money. But it was the wrestling fan of me who's watching all of this play out. And you just, Bach, have I not been consistent in saying,
Starting point is 00:24:20 be careful what you tell people about you because they will start to believe you. And when they start to believe that you're going to show up no matter the result and you're going to give money to do it, they're going to keep abusing you. Oh, my goodness gracious. So we do, everybody knew Dillon was going in the train. proportional? Why are we surprised? Why? Why was that breaking news? Why? The finality of it. Okay. The finality of it exists. Hey, bot, we'll go to break. When we come back, we'll ask the question. Textors, I'm going to ask Bach this and you have full time to load up your
Starting point is 00:25:12 text. But the question is this. Dylan is gone. Now what? We'll be back.
