You're listening to One-on-One with DP, sponsored by Mary Ellen's Food for the Soul,
on 937 The Ticket and The Ticket FM.com.
Welcome back.
This is a special event, and tonight's conversation certainly opens my brain and my skin up,
my pores up a little bit, looking forward to the 14th.
This event is going to have some speakers that have stories to tell.
They have lessons to share.
This kind of event, this is like I would, quite frankly, I'd rather do this and go to a football game.
Because it's humanity and it's realness.
It's a thing.
And I know a lot of people here won't believe it.
They don't understand it.
But being around creative people who are caring enough to share their lessons with other people, whether it's comfortable or not,
they're willing to share so somebody else can have an easier day.
It's a wonderful thing.
And Gene, what you and the folks have put together.
It's going to be exceptional.
Let the folks know, the listeners know.
One, how to get tickets.
They can go to ignitelincoln.org, and they can buy two different types of tickets.
If you want to sit in a chair, $10, if you want to sit at a table, $20, 100% of that money goes to the nonprofits.
So you spend 10, 10 goes to nonprofits, just spend 20, 20 goes to them.
So at nightlincoln.org, and we will accept people just walking in.
Hey, can I buy a ticket at the front door?
Yes, we'll take your money, and you can buy a ticket at the front door.
Through all of this, this is year 15.
How has the event evolved?
What was the first one?
You said you were at the first one.
The first one was in 2010.
There were actually a couple years where we had two.
And the first one, I was involved as a spectator, my good friend, Ali,
Schwanky talked about six levels of separation and whatever.
And so she invited me to go.
And I just was enamored with it.
And it was at the Bourbon Street Theater here in town.
It was there for the first couple of years.
And then it grew.
And then we've been at the Rococo ever since.
We started, you know, with the nonprofits in 2013.
three years after we started, we thought it would just be a great interaction to have nonprofits and people sharing their passion.
And we've been able to give away over $100,000 since then to the nonprofits right here in Lincoln, helping Lincolnites.
Again, through all of this stuff, right, that Lincoln keeps showing up.
That soft underbelly, there's some really good things happening here.
Janine, let them know one more time.
How to find you, what you're doing.
I know that you have some things that you want to share with folks.
Sure.
Yeah.
My business is changing spaces, SRS, and we help seniors downsize and move.
We help older folks let go of their things.
We also turn around and sell those things.
We run estate sales and online auctions here in Lincoln.
And I'm thrilled to be speaking at this event and helping people think about how to let go of their stuff.
Jillian?
What's the story?
So I have returned to being in a private hair studio.
And I had a private studio in Omaha, two of them actually.
And I called it Harris Art.
So when I recreated things, I decided Harris Art 2.0 would be pretty cool.
Yeah, right, right?
So, yeah, it's in Vaughnhears Salon Suites.
It's 17th and Pioneers.
But it's a struggling time for service providers.
We've had six people leave.
So I'm still there.
I'll be there until I cannot stand up anymore.
And you're letting the folks know how to find you.
That is important.
Gene, again, thank you for what you're doing.
Thank you for the opportunity.
Thank you for sharing your stories because this is a community of stories.
And it's a great event.
It's a great event.
Again, Ignite Lincoln, September 14th, 7 o'clock, doors open.
What time do doors open?
six o'clock.
Six o'clock doors open.
The bar will be open.
I'll be open.
I confirmed that earlier this week.
There we go.
Janine needs to make sure
the part will be open.
Let's get to the important stuff.
Yeah.
Let's have that done.
Again, you can find out the information
at ignitelincoln.org.
And we would love to see you all there.
Gene, Jillian, Janine,
thank you.
Harrison Arns.
Once again, thank you, kind, sir.
Don't go anywhere.
Ticket weeknights.
We'll take it over.
Give you a recap on the day
