Back to one-on-one with D.P.
Sponsored by the Downtown Lincoln Foundation on 93-7 the ticket.
You guys have been fire on the Texan.
Thank you for adding to the show.
And being a part of it, appreciate it.
Texas says this, 15602 says this.
I won't spend another domain support of a dollar support of a program that continues to no-show
two or three times a year.
and I've been arguing for the last 10 years that continually dumping resources into a program
that doesn't even respect themselves enough to show up every day, every week, every game is not
beneficial.
It's a cancer that is holding the program back.
They simply have not earned it.
Now, here's the thing.
I thank you for being thoughtful and consider it in putting it together along the way.
But this is why I say, so you have to be analytical in the sense that if the problem is
winning, right? And that is the identifier for successful programs, especially a Blue Blood program,
a cash cow revenue stream program, is winning. That was true in basketball. That basketball is
plus $4 million in revenue because you won. You won, right? There's always been support.
And the people say, well, why do you keep showing up for basketball when they never win?
well, that's why you keep showing up.
That's why you keep showing up.
So that when we win, you're, you're emotionally vested and connected to the program.
But yes, there should be some bounce back to say, but there still has to be winning.
Now, there still has to be quality of people, right?
Because you don't want to win and have it to be a crime show, right?
Like, you don't want to do that.
Right.
You don't want to be that.
And then you don't want it to be just coach, coach, coach,
grab just for the sake of this thing. You don't want that either. So what do you want? You want
good folks. You want people to represent state, represent university, represent the community.
You want people who represent, you want a coach that represents those things. And they want
players to represent the things. And because they represent those things, those things that you
hold highest as who you are, right? Those things that are, if you identified the brand that is a
Husker or that you identify the brand that is Nebraska
Athletics, that I would hope that you copy and mimic
the success of the programs that are finishing in the top five
because those programs, bowling, wrestling,
volleyball is now in the top 10 so you can have that conversation.
What are the programs that are missing that have that sort of level of
success? Softball, baseball. That you can be in the top tier
of the country and when it comes to power for sports,
win at a high level, high frequency and consistency
and then be those wonderful people off the court,
off the field that represent the brand, right?
That's a big part of it is having good kids,
being good students, being good people away from the game,
and then being good ambassadors for the game and the university.
But then you also have to say that within those programs, those coaches exemplify those things.
Now, I don't know which comes first, chicken or the egg, but they seem connected because in the spaces that exist at the highest level here at University of Nebraska,
those programs that are having that kind of success also have that sort of character and integrity attached to it.
and then they realized that putting money behind good people doing good things might be the right way to go about putting good money behind good kids and good coaches and good fans.
Bach, is that fair?
Yeah?
I'm just saying.
I'm just saying.
A few text from the text line about Dan Housin.
Drew Carr says, get Dan Hurley.
Curse him.
Curse him.
Texer says, hey,
yo, Scott Frost the visit.
Oh, man.
Yeah, and Texer says this.
With climate control,
there shouldn't be any need
for medical personnel
to carry out all the older folks
who can't handle warm weather.
Again, if you tell me
it's about the fans
and the fan experience,
take care of the young folks and the old folks.
Make it easy.
Make it comfortable.
Make it fair.
Just saying.
Anyway, I appreciate y'all.
It should be a good day.
Bach, who wins the main events at WrestleMania?
Go Saturday night.
Who wins the main event?
Oh, boy.
I've been going back and forth.
I think, I think Cody does.
Who wins Sunday night?
They got to get back to the big dog.
Get Roman back on top of this company.
Hey, man.
Look forward to it.
It's going to be a great week.
Y'all behave.
Be good to yourselves.
Adam Kerker, the big guy.
Coming up next here on the ticket.
