Starting point is 00:00:00 Back to one-on-one with DP. Presented by Beatrice Makeray on 93-7 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com. Welcome back. One-on-one. Rico is here. You were just speaking something to me. Repeat that, please. Yes.
Starting point is 00:00:29 Sorry, I hit the wrong one. Saturday tradition, which is the home of Big Ten football. I don't know. It's not really. Not really. I mean, they're verified. they've got a bunch of followers. I don't, whatever.
Starting point is 00:00:42 They made their own way too early 2022 quarterback power rankings for the big 10. Do we love them or hate them? Well, I will give you number one and number 14 and then I will let you guess. Number one is the guy at Ohio State. Okay, then I will give you number two and number 14.
Starting point is 00:00:58 Okay. Aiden O'Connell, Purdue is number two. And number 14 is Ryan Hillensky, Northwestern. Where do you believe? Number 15 and Casey's four. So for Nebraska, they have both quarterbacks together. Oh, they have them together.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Every team has, you know, their quarterbacks. Everybody else has one quarterback. Nebraska is the only one with two, but they're together in the rankings. Where do you think Nebraska's quarterbacks rank on Saturday traditions, way too early quarterback power rankings? They should be at, now and I think about it. Noclehead crew probably has them at six. Number six is Cade McNamara, Michigan.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Yeah, that's. So they put them after that because they locate. Number eight. Shut up. It's so stupid. In front of the likes of. Yeah. Tanner Morgan.
Starting point is 00:01:59 Woo. Graham Mertz. Who. Spencer Petrus. Come on. Tommy DeVito. Noah Vedrell. Ryan Holinsky.
Starting point is 00:02:07 So according to this, Nebraska's quarterbacks are the second best quarterbacks in the Big Ten West. And the eighth best quarterbacks in the entire Big Ten. Well, they play at eighth. Well, where was Adrian? Adrian? Adrian was not eighth. He was higher than that.
Starting point is 00:02:32 He was higher. Every year he was everywhere. But I believe this last year. He was never eight. No, this last year, he was in the top five, I believe. He was never. Because he was ahead of Peyton Thorne. Nobody knew Peyton Thorne was going to be as good as Peyton Thorne was.
Starting point is 00:02:46 Peyton Thorne. Peyton Thorne didn't know. Peyton Thorne is third on here, by the way. The top five are Stroud, O'Connell, Thorne, Taulea, Clifford. Yeah, to, I mean, and then the reigning Big Ten champ is number six. Like, if you put Tau, if you put Taulea, too, I'd be okay, Clifford four or so, but I would not choose. I don't know why Aiden O'Connell's number two.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Yeah, I don't, you know. Purdue had a good year, but I don't know if they had a second best quarterback in the Big Ten year. No, I just, I would base it on who I would choose. from my team. Right. So Stroud is one, Talia, probably two.
Starting point is 00:03:34 I might have Sean Clifford, too. I'm not a Sean Clifford fan. I think he's good. I'm not, I'm not the biggest fan of him. I think he's good,
Starting point is 00:03:41 though. Like, I'm not a fan. Like, if you put, if you, so if you put Talia with Penn State,
Starting point is 00:03:46 they would all be better for it. Clifford, Clifford may not have won a game at Maryland. I don't know. There's nothing about him. I like Clive. He's strong arm. He's,
Starting point is 00:03:58 he's athletic enough. See, that whole strong arm thing. People don't even, like, I don't even know, what, what do you mean by strong arm?
Starting point is 00:04:05 I mean, he can throw the ball down the field accurately. He can throw it long. Accurately. He threw it accurately. He threw it accurately down the field. He had,
Starting point is 00:04:12 he had seven overthrows against Michigan. He got hurt. He was hurt than in that game. Well, I mean, but arm strength isn't affected by injury. That's ball placement, velocity,
Starting point is 00:04:26 quickness or release explosiveness. That's not an injury-based thing. Well, the ball placement, like you just said, it's affected by the injury. He still had the strength to get it there. He just wasn't putting it where he normally puts it. Well, then we can't talk like you had that conversation about Adrian and go,
Starting point is 00:04:39 well, dude, dude was injured all year. So every evaluation of Adrian should begin with. He was injured all year. Exactly. That's how I begin. Which is the excuse. Now, my arm strength to me is, can he throw the corner route with velocity and placement? Can he throw it from from the,
Starting point is 00:04:55 from the left hash to the right side. Right. Well, I mean, because that's the long throw. The long out is the most readable when it comes to armstring. Oh, yeah. Now, you've got to talk about release and you've got to talk about IQ. What? Do you understand what you're throwing into and what I understand what you're throwing against,
Starting point is 00:05:09 which he does not do well. So, but I get, you know, okay, people like watching. Do you tell you made the same mistakes? He really did. He really did. There's Stroud and then there's everyone else. Everyone else. So that's kind of how that works.
Starting point is 00:05:25 But how many of them did what Thompson did against his biggest rival? Touche. Right. So. But anyway. I mean, you've got the two, it's, you've got the two schools with transfer quarterbacks who are probably going to start right in the middle of the pack. It's seven and eight with, with Indiana and the Missouri transfer Connor, Connor Bezalak. So seven, you, you literally have, where's Logan's mother's dog on?
Starting point is 00:05:54 He's not even, it says Casey Thompson, Chubba Purdy. So the last guy who started done getting, Nope. And where's Vedril? Vedril is 13th. Which I think is a slap in the face. That's offensive. That's just rude.
Starting point is 00:06:13 I would take Noah Vedrell over Tommy DeVito over at Illinois. Right. Like that's, that's okay. Honestly, if you put Noah Vedderal on Wisconsin, they win more games. Oh, there's no doubt. Graham Mertz isn't good. Why are people trying to make grandmerts of things still? Because people buy into because he looks, he looks approachable.
Starting point is 00:06:32 Every Wisconsin quarterback looks approachable. Nick is looking at Bruce Springsteen dancing in the dark. I think they're going to try and do the Carlton dance today. Ooh. I think that's what they're going to try to do. We got to get that on the stream. I think they're going to try to do that. He did, Nick, Nick broke a promise to me yesterday.
Starting point is 00:06:51 Nicholas. He broke a promise because he was dancing before. for the show, and he promised that he was going to cut that clip and put it on online. That's right. He did not. I forgot. I forgot to post that part. I was posting Beatrice's Bakery and the other one, the other clip of the day.
Starting point is 00:07:09 I'm just, shoot. Would you like me to post it right now? I don't know what you're doing now other than listening to Bruce Springsteen. Oh, you guys saw that. Yeah. And watching Courtney Cox. Well, there's nothing but glass here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:20 I thought you guys would be in a deep conversation. We were. We were. That was holding. Where do you think Casey Thompson and Chubbapurty are in Saturday traditions way too early 2022 Big Ten quarterback power rankings? That's a lot of words. So just like the top 14?
Starting point is 00:07:37 Top 14. I would say Chubbopurty's not in the top 14. Well, they are together. It's Casey Thompson's Chubbirty. They're a package deal. Yeah. I'd say middle of the pack, a little above the middle of the pack. The only reason I say that is because the Big Ten,
Starting point is 00:07:55 They don't have a lot of great quarterbacks. It's a lot of more great running backs. Like, I guess I don't know what names you guys have said. Like Graham Mertz is a bad quarterback, in my opinion. They are above Graham Mertz. C.J. Stroud is number one. Aiden O'Connell is number two. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:08:16 That's the face I made. Yeah, that's the face we all made. Who would we put at number two? I said either, I said Sean Clifford or Talia. he said, Oh, I would like Talia. Talia. I mean, I would also have
Starting point is 00:08:29 Kate McNamara out there. I was just saying, well, see, Michigan's interesting because now next year, he's not even the guy. Yeah, now he's not the guy necessarily because Kate McNamara and J.J. McCarthy split time.
Starting point is 00:08:42 And so now McCarthy has actual experience in certain situations. So that's interesting. Plus, can we say what if Jim Harbaugh is not the coach? Yeah. Is that a thing? That's a thing.
Starting point is 00:08:53 Is that still a thing? That's still a thing. It just came out yesterday that it was like, yeah, if he gets offered the Las Vegas job, he's taking it. Oh, of course it's Vegas. And turning down. But you are correct. They are almost directly middle of the pack. They are number eight.
Starting point is 00:09:06 Yeah. Connor Basilac at Indiana is number seven. The Missouri transfer. Right in the middle. The Missouri transfer over the Texas slash Florida State transfer. Yeah, because, you know. Interesting. Because who, there's no bias there.
Starting point is 00:09:18 Where's like four? Who's like four, five, six? It's like, where's Peyton Thorne. Peyton Thorne is three. Talley is number four. Clifford's number five, MacMraz number six. Poop. Thompson and Purdy are directly above Tanner Morgan.
Starting point is 00:09:31 Oh, I would. Tanner Morgan needs to be hired. I don't like Tanner Morgan, but Tanner Morgan needs to be higher. No, he doesn't. Hired them. If Tanner Morgan walked in, we interviewed him in Big Ten. Yeah. If he walked in this thing right now, you said, what sport do I play?
Starting point is 00:09:48 Quarterback and football are not the things that come to mind. They're not the two. Who's the worst? Let me, let's try to pick. the worst one hold on okay you you you should get the worst three well one of them is rude but you should get it okay like whoever illinois's quarterback is Tommy DeVito yeah it's not yeah that's not who I would have 12 guessed um so he's 12 where's petrus 11 right above right above bottom three wow he's not asked to do much um is gram murd somewhere 10 right above petris dang who am i forgetting
Starting point is 00:10:22 I will. They are two very forgettable schools. You get there in the Big Ten. You only remember them to a basketball season. Whoever Rutgers, whoever Rutgers quarterback is. No, eventual. He's still there? Yeah, apparently.
Starting point is 00:10:37 Which I think is very rude to have. Where's he at? He's back. He's at Rutgers. No, no. Oh, 13th. Okay. This is the face I made.
Starting point is 00:10:48 Yeah, there's a couple things that changed. Okay. And then who's 14th? Come on. Come on, Nick. Who am I forgetting? I got to look up with the stickers. I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:10:59 You only think about this team when it comes to academic all Americans. Oh, no more Hunter Johnson, so whoever's at Northwestern. Ryan Holinsky. The South Carolina transfer. Yeah, he's still there. Yeah. Can we believe it's such a dabbo thing. I know we haven't talked about this in this little sidebar.
Starting point is 00:11:17 It's such a dabbo thing that the first player he gets out of the transfer portal ever, after he talks bad about the transfer portal is his former Clemson guy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. To not play. I mean, he's not going to probably start over DJ. Honestly, that would be hilarious. Like Northwestern just horribly mismanaged it and they just didn't surround him with anything.
Starting point is 00:11:37 He turns out to be like a Heisman finalist in class. So, but what's the, is that the only transfer portal person? I believe so. As far as we know, that is the only transfer portal person. That's the only transfer dabbo's ever gotten out of the portal. know exactly what that number is. I can, I'll do some research. I need to know exactly what that number is.
Starting point is 00:11:56 The man refuses to move with the times. Concrete feet. How many years does Dabo have left at Clemson? He got an extension a couple years ago. If they keep having like eight and four, nine and nine. They won, they won ten years. They won ten games each year, which is a down year for Clemson. Yeah, they're not.
Starting point is 00:12:14 So that's what I'm saying. What if? No, he's, he's there. He's there. He's there. He's there. That's what that is. Uh, Davos Sweeney is through 2526.
Starting point is 00:12:25 Yeah. I'd expect at least that long. Yeah, not, you can't have the buy. Oh, no, no, never mind. That's annual, annual compensation through includes in 800,000 completion. He's through 2028. Oh, yeah, he's fine. Yeah, enjoy the time.
Starting point is 00:12:38 All right. We'll throw it a break. We'll close out one-on-one with Beatrice bakery nomination. We'll do that next on all one-on-one. 93-7 the ticket. Watch live on Facebook, YouTube. For Twitch, you're listening to one-on-one with DP on 937 the Ticket and the Ticketfm.com.
