Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to One-on-One with D.P. Brought to you by Beatrice Bakery. On 93-7 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com. Final segment of one-on-one on a Friday. Thank you guys for spending time with us. It's amazing to watch the thing evolve. You guys are more involved. You're more connected to it.
Starting point is 00:00:28 You get what we're doing. And it's appreciated to kind of watch this thing play out. the 11 o'clock hour. I just want to point this. It's going to be a doozy. It's going to be a dozy. It's going to be a good one. Like I said, he made a point.
Starting point is 00:00:43 Sean went in and he pulled out some folks. And from 1130, 1130 today, Will Shields. He's got Graham on today, too. So much so he was so excited that he was putting Nick to work last night and just finding music. he's like get to work we got stuff we got we got stuff to get we got music we got stuff together yeah yeah you get we're going it's very important like we're going this is not just anybody
Starting point is 00:01:14 you know this is somebody get your music together so we gave him some some some some some music to download as well riko it's hello a couple of things before we get out of this out of this thing um of course folks in the text line uh courtlin john and courtland thank you for your kind words greatly appreciate it. This is DP, thanks again for bringing light to all of Husker Athletics. My day off and it's been a great morning. From a 60-old to you, well done, sir, old school Husker, my favorite, and the reason the 49ers are my team, Mr. Willie Harper.
Starting point is 00:01:48 That's it. That's it. Right? We can talk about the things that we want to speculate on and the things we need to guess about and the rumors and all that stuff. or we can talk about things that we know to be true to get to what we want it to be. Like, you know what you can, once you know what you can be,
Starting point is 00:02:11 then you can hold people accountable to it. And these folks are coming in. I mean, it's a great day. Strix, I mean, him having Andy Markowski as a part of the show, look, that's pretty good. Samaki Walker is going to be there Monday, right? Like, it's, you're adding value to it and just changing the conversation. Of course, Jay Foreman just adds to.
Starting point is 00:02:32 And I wish somehow we're going to get Jay unplugged. Jay uncensored. It has to be probably 11 o'clock at night. I mean, we can do it, but it might be have to be in like podcast form. Yeah. It's not going to be live, but we'll figure it out. And then we can hear the stuff that said. Get it to your guys.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Yeah. I mean, it's so informative. And it's honest and it's passionate. So from the text on, I remember one dude who got away without boxing with his hands up. Nick probably wouldn't know this guy. Rico Mike probably wouldn't know this guy. But Prince Nassim Ahmed.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Couldn't tell you. I don't know him any, I don't. He was, this dude danced on the way to the ring. He dances in the locker room, dancing the way of the ring, on the way through the ring, danced in the ring, dance after the fight. And he was stylistically,
Starting point is 00:03:25 he was next in line. So I want to say that Hector Macho Camas. show was one of the great boxing showman. Prince Nassim came in. He had people that carried him to the ring on like one of those old school. Yeah. Like a throne. Yeah, like he had like that done.
Starting point is 00:03:46 And he had the music and he brought a little bit of hip hop to it. So of course some people turned away from it because of that. And it was a really good. He was a fun boxer until, you know, he got knocked out. And then it was like, okay, well, it was not fun anymore. This is a fun. This isn't fun at all. It's hard to dance when your legs don't work.
Starting point is 00:04:03 When your legs go stiff, you can't really move it. Yeah, yeah. But Princess, if you don't know Princess, if you don't know Princess, him just go some great, great video on Princeton seat. But yeah, boxers, look, wrestlers have the opportunity to go into the UFC and they're having success at a high level. Also from the text line,
Starting point is 00:04:27 State of Nebraska has had some crazy. wrestlers, fighters come out of here. U and Kee had Joe Ellenberger, went to UFC, Uzman, of course, UFC champ. Tervel Delagniv. DeLognev, who's Olympic medalist, all of them, one team at U&K,
Starting point is 00:04:45 D2 at that. Yeah, plus, I mean, Anthony Smith, Derek Minner, I mean, Nebraska's closely connected to competitive fighting. Of course, Terrence Bud Crawford in Omaha. So it matters,
Starting point is 00:04:59 we want those conversations to happen and it's pretty cool to watch like I said it's pretty cool to watch and watch it up close. Let's go through. I was, we were going to talk about the Knicks. I just switched my jersey.
Starting point is 00:05:15 Yeah, I brought all three of them. I noticed you did. I brought all three of them. Yeah, I knew you were going to roll today. It was very important. A bit the Celtics. Well, I'm waiting for you in box, right? You get that stuff done.
Starting point is 00:05:27 So, to the thumbs up of the thumbs. thumbs down. Text sign, let us know. If a Husker player, let's say football. Let's say football. Won't say basketball because we know what the reaction. Football.
Starting point is 00:05:43 If football players were booed, first of all, would you be okay with them being booed? Second of all, are you one of the booers? Third of all, would you have a problem with that? Would you be mad at a player responding with a thumbs down? just saying something back. Right? To responding to it. So feed that fire for a second.
Starting point is 00:06:09 Which line are you in, Rico? Would you... I don't like. It's happened multiple times, actually, in the past few years, where the players have walked off the field to booze. I don't like it. I don't like that at all. I am not one of the booers.
Starting point is 00:06:21 I'm not going to boo this team. I'm never going to boo this team. And if they gave a thumbs down and said, you know, what Julius Randall said, I don't care. I agree with him. I'm not mad at it. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:06:33 Like, was he right? If you want to be rude, you got to expect somebody to be rude back. It's not, you know, maybe it's not the right, you know, response, but I don't care. Is it okay to boo the opponents when they come into Memorial Stadium? No, but, I mean, as long as you're not, yeah, no, I get it. So next year, when Oklahoma comes to stadium, they're going to boot. Yeah, they're going to get booed Iowa every year. Bad call. You booed the bad call.
Starting point is 00:06:57 Yes. Right? You can basically not going to change it. You can do it. But booing. the Huskers themselves? No. During the game or after the game.
Starting point is 00:07:06 No. You can say they played bad, whatever. I just don't think being in the arena, booing in the arena seems a little... That's not going to help. That's not going to help the case. If they played bad and you're in the arena booing them and yelling at them
Starting point is 00:07:20 how trash they are, it's not going to help. You're not going to inspire them to play. Like, you're God, you suck! Oh, you know what? I should play better because that dude up in 203 told me that I said, suck. Great.
Starting point is 00:07:33 Right. Right. I think that's simple. You're not helping anything. Right. I think that's simple. Right. He's just be like, hey, you know, not the greatest performance, but you got it.
Starting point is 00:07:42 Turn it around. You'll be fine. Right. Right. Tiny pig says, not okay with being booed. I'd be okay with the coach being booed, but not players. I would not boo either myself. It's okay for them to respond. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:53 I mean, I think that's fair. Right. John and Courtney. Uh, Jay Foreman, a dude. Much love to him. Rico. For such youth, you are refreshing surprise. Strict 9th grade dunked on former brother-in-law,
Starting point is 00:08:04 6-7. I looked at Strick's dad and just said, damn, no booing ever to players. No booing ever to players. I've given officials the noise. Yeah, like officials, yes. Officials got to get got. Right?
Starting point is 00:08:16 Officials got to get got. You get dunked on by Eric Strickley. You're just like, damn. Yeah, you know. Damn. Yeah. I'm trying to think of who in my career got me, got me. I didn't play basketball, so I can't even say anything.
Starting point is 00:08:31 The problem of the player that people know most, Derek Wittenberg dunked on me. I was not happy. I was not happy. Like I was a, like, you know you see the videos where something happened to somebody and then somebody takes the video and they put sad music behind it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:55 And then they fade to black. Right. Yeah. That was me standing under the rim. That's me standing under the room because that's the moment. And somebody would just say, this is the moment where DP realized that basketball is not his thing. Did you go for the block or did you get caught like in the wrong place? I didn't think he was going to like dunk.
Starting point is 00:09:16 I thought he was just going to go to a layup. So you were like hands up? Yeah. Like I'm not going to jump like I'm not. First of all, I know my elevator key don't go to his floor. Like my, I'm not going up near the rim no way. So it was disrespectful. You knew I wasn't going to try.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Why would you? Why would you do that? It wasn't even necessary, bro. Like you were going to get to two points, Derek. Like, leave me alone. Rude. That's after he ducked, you just look at him. Yeah, like, rude.
Starting point is 00:09:44 Like, you know, from what's the house with the twin girls? How rude. Y'all be good. Y'all be good. Rashad is next. For Sean and friends will take you through 11 o'clock hour until two. Don't go nowhere. Love y'all.
Starting point is 00:10:01 Thank you.
