Back to one-on-one with D.P.
Sponsored by the Downtown Lincoln Foundation on 93-7 the ticket.
All right, welcome back in to one-on-one, Harrison Barnes, on the Ones in Tuesday.
And we got a great guest on the Allo VIP line where they understand the importance of this exceptional service with a local heart.
We got Connor, Magnuski of the Lincoln Salt Dogs, Alfielder, and currently a candidate for the last man in in the American Association.
Connor, man, appreciate you calling in.
How's going on July 3rd?
Hey, hey guys, doing well.
Appreciate you having me.
100%, man.
So for everyone out there, again, this is Lincoln Salt Dogs,
Connor Bagneski.
The last man in is a special fan vote contest used to select the final roster spot
for the American Association.
All-Star game.
And Connor's put together quite the season so far is currently with a 378 batting average.
He's got one home run, a 23 runs batted in out,
of Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Carter, putting the season together, I'll first ask you,
what does it feel like to currently be a candidate for that Last Man in award?
It feels great.
You know, we're having a good year, and it's been a lot of fun with this group of guys.
So to be, you know, a candidate for the last man in is pretty cool.
And to have the support, you know, obviously from my teammates, the coaching staff,
you know, everybody within the Lincoln Self,
is organization and then also, you know, family and friends and stuff.
It's been pretty cool.
Absolutely.
And to put it in perspective, I believe, yeah,
currently leading the entire American Association
with that batting average, also on
a 17 game
hitting streak. So I think you're
more than deserving, especially if you're one of these
candidates. Has this season felt
a little special with some of the numbers that you've been
putting up this year?
You know, it's, it's definitely
been a fun one.
It was kind of a different start
for me, you know,
getting here this season. And I
definitely,
had a little bit of a slow start out of the gate, but, you know, you just keep working. And,
you know, we have obviously really good people leading us with, with Fris and Cash and, you know,
kind of just taking in, you know, advice from them and, you know, trying to just build on each day.
It's, you know, it's been working. And, you know, obviously the goal is just, you know, continue to do
it and, you know, see where the season can take us.
Absolutely. And there's still time, a little bit of time to vote.
as well. You can go to the salt dogs.com website. They got some links that can send you there
if you want to go ahead and vote for Connor. But you got down here, I believe in May,
this year, 2026, correct? Yes. Yeah, I got here the second, I think it was the second week
of the season. I met the team in Sioux City was my first week. Okay, nice. So how do you
even like in the Lincoln stays so far here with the Lincoln Salt Dogs? I know on the sign,
it says Nebraska, not for everybody, but contrary to the sign, a lot of people on
enjoying their time here.
No, it's been great.
You know, it's obviously, you know, has the Midwest feel to it,
me being from Wisconsin, you know, it's kind of a very similar feel.
So that part, you know, is always easy.
You transition somewhere that, you know, feels a lot like home.
And, you know, like I said, everybody in the organization and the guys, you know,
from our clubhouse, you know, the coaching staff, the front office,
everybody's been very welcoming.
And, you know, it's been a very, very easy transition.
I've really, really enjoyed my time here.
Yeah, so it's supposed to come in from Green Bay, Wisconsin.
It probably doesn't feel a little bit like home away from home.
You still get a little bit of that Midwest culture.
We're of ones around here.
It's pretty friendly.
Just playing for the Salt Dogs in itself with like the Lincoln part to the side of it.
What's the experience been like, you know, hopping on two weeks into the season.
You're on a new team with the Lincoln Salt Dogs.
Absolutely.
You know, sometimes when you join a team, you know, obviously it's still very early, you know,
being two weeks into the season.
But, you know, those guys have, they had been together since the start of spring
train.
So you're kind of walking into something that, you know, already been going.
And, you know, these guys made it really easy for me.
They welcome me right away.
And that just in itself makes things so much easier.
I think it's a lot easier to join a group of people no matter what you're doing when
not only, you know, you feel confident going in there, but when, you know, your teammates,
your coaching staff, everybody makes you feel, you know, comfortable right away and kind of
gives you that confidence. It's definitely
just makes things a
whole lot easier because
like I said, sometimes, you know, you go into
somewhere new and it's, you know,
maybe a little just different at first.
But these guys
on the team and our staff
made it incredibly easy for me.
And, you know, obviously our team is
a real tight-knit group and, you know,
really coming together. So it's been a
blast, you know, to be here with these guys.
Absolutely. And again, I'm going to
keep saying, it's still time to vote.
you can go to at sultox.com
slash vote for that last man in award.
And, you know, the seltex have put together quite a heavy campaign for you
to get this last buy-in or for that last vote to get into that all-star game.
And I'll say this much.
And maybe you're a humble guy.
Maybe you didn't feel this way at all,
but maybe the teammates rattle it around you really want to get this through.
Were you a little bit surprised leading the American Association
with that batting average and being left out on the list?
You know, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't.
But at the same time, you know, I kind of try to not get wrapped up too much into stuff like that.
I think it, you know, it can only affect you in a negative way if you look at it, you know, a certain way.
So I was definitely a little surprised, but to have the support from, you know, my teammates and stuff kind of coming up to me and, you know, saying little things to me there.
and obviously the Salt Dogs organization putting together, like you said, a pretty wild campaign to get me in there has really meant a lot.
So I'm really hoping that it works.
But, you know, it's not, you know, it's one of those things where, you know, it's out of my control.
So, but I definitely appreciate the, you know, the effort and the support.
I know my family at home, my mom has said it to probably about 100,000 people.
So I know that people are doing their part.
And it just, it really means a lot to have the support for my teammates, you know, whether I get in or not.
Absolutely.
And, you know, also this much with that social media campaign came through.
Was that a conversational or is it just the list came out?
And then here come the Salt Dogs that they just kind of knew they were going to put this together.
Or was there conversations about, you know, them kind of getting you involved like,
hey, we're going to try to put this out for you.
Or was it just Lincoln Salt Talks is all your left off the list.
And it's like, all right, we got to make sure this guy gets him.
I mean, he's, again, leading the American Association.
batting average, it only feels right?
It was one of those things where I just got to the field yes or Wednesday.
And, you know, the reserve list came out.
Obviously saw my name wasn't on there.
And then they just, as soon as I got there, they mentioned to me that I was the last,
you know, one of the last vote in players.
And they had a, you know, our social media team had a whole plan of, you know,
things that they wanted to do with me and, you know, just kind of ways to, you know,
fun ways to get my name, you know, out there to, I guess, you know, the fans and the people of
Lincoln.
So they came up with all the ideas and stuff.
And obviously, you know, they did a great job.
And it was, it was a lot of fun to, you know, some of the funny videos and stuff like
that.
So it was a lot of fun to make those, you know, make those videos.
Absolutely.
Again, saltdogs.com slash vote.
There's still time to go out there and try to get Connor Bagneski of the Lincoln Salt
Dogs that, that all-star candidate spot.
What would mean for you?
If the fans got you in here, if everyone rallied, and just by the looks of it from everything I've seen, people are certainly rallying behind you.
What would it, you know, kind of feel like for you personally, if it does work out in your favor and you get named to that spot?
It would mean a lot.
You know, like I said, the season's been a lot of fun.
And obviously, with the game being at home, would definitely mean a lot, you know, to be able to represent the Lincoln Seldogs in front of the fans.
I know, you would, you know, it would mean a lot to me personally.
obviously, you know, you set goals as a player before the season, both teen goals and personal goals.
And this was definitely one of mine.
So it would definitely mean a lot to me.
And I know it would mean a lot to my family, too.
I know that they would do everything they can to come watch.
And, you know, their support is the reason why that, you know, I'm able to still play.
And just to have their support, I know it would mean a lot to me, but it would mean, you know,
probably even more to my mom and dad.
Absolutely.
As good parents always be proud.
you know, what is something about Connor that if people want to go look at the stats,
I'll say, hey, wow, this guy's a really good baseball player.
But what's something, you know, that you would just want fans to know about you,
who you are coming from Green Bay, Wisconsin?
That's a good question.
Probably that, you know, I mean, I love the game of baseball more than anything.
And, you know, I work really, really hard to be able to, you know,
perform and just do what I can for the team.
But I think more than anything, I try to pride myself on just being a good human being.
I think that's more important, obviously, than baseball or anything, just to be a good person.
So, you know, coming from Green Bay, growing up, you know, growing up in that, you know, the Midwest, you know, kind of environment,
just that I just tried my best just to be the best person I can be every single day and be there for my teammates, be a good teammate.
you know, just kind of enjoy the ride that we're on right now.
It's a pretty special one.
Where does that pride come from to try to be like just a good individual to every human being out there?
Was that just something grained into you from your parents, teammates?
Where'd that come from?
Yeah, just growing up and just growing up, you know, obviously my parents haven't ingrained that into me since I was a kid.
You know, just being the best person you can to everybody, you know, obviously try to be very humble.
you know, play the game with humility, play the game with being a humble human being.
And I think those things are what lead you to success, both on the field and off the field.
I think, you know, the good things come to good people.
And I just take a lot of pride and trying to make sure that I can be the best teammate and human being.
I can be every single day for, you know, not only for my teammates and the organization,
but just for, you know, everybody that you come across,
I think it's just the best way to live your life.
Well, I said I'm 100% agree with you there.
And again, one more time before we let you go.
There's still time if you haven't done it.
We highly encourage you, go do it.
If you haven't, saltdogs.com slash vote.
You can vote for Connor and Magnusky to try to get him in that last
All-Star candidate spot.
And obviously, it would be a big deal for Connor,
but also for the Salt Dogs to get one of their guys in there as well.
or let you go, Connor,
you got any fun plans?
Coming up for the fourth tomorrow as that's July 3rd already.
We're in Gary, Indiana,
playing our series against the Railcat.
So I've been told that they get a pretty good,
pretty good fourth crowd.
So we're just going to play the game,
excuse me,
play the game.
And, you know,
hopefully we can get out of here with a series win.
We're playing some really good baseball right now.
And, you know,
kind of just go from there.
Absolutely.
Well, Connor,
I really appreciate the time.
And for all the listeners out there,
definitely go out.
out to support the Salt Dogs in particular, and then definitely go to
saltogs.com slash vote and go ahead and vote for Connor Becknesty.
Get him that last All-Star candidate spot.
Connor, man, really appreciate the time.
I hope you have a great 4th of July.
Hey, thanks, guys.
One thing before I go, I just want to mention for all the fans, just to let you guys
know the All-Star game is that Haymarket Park, July 15th, the home run derby
starts at 5.
The game starts at 730.
I know especially our two guys that we have going right now, Jacob Morrow and Zach McLeve,
huge shout out to them.
They deserve it.
You know, come on to support them and
let's get a big crowd for the hometown
guys. Absolutely. Appreciate it.
Connor. We'll be definitely chanting that as that
All-Star game gets closer to a
market park. That was Connor
Magnusky. And again, that one's going to be a lot
of fun. I know we'll be here at the ticket
promoting it trying to get people down there.
I'm sure there'll be plenty of our ticket crew
at those games as well. But again,
like I said, there's not a ton of time, but there is definitely
still time. Go out there and you can put your vote
been there at sultox.com slash vote. Appreciate everybody listening. We got one more segment of one-on-one
on the other side. Don't go anywhere. Harrison Arns, 93-7, the ticket. We'll talk to you in just a little bit.
