Starting point is 00:00:00 One-on-one with D.P. Sponsored by the Downtown Lincoln Foundation on 93-7 the ticket. I'm sorry to wish that on you. Coach Loxley, I got him. He's one and two against the Huskers. And the last two games, last two matchups, came down to a final score, to my own drive. And we do not, listen, I'll accept that if that's what's being served.
Starting point is 00:01:23 I'll accept the win if it has to come down to the final drive, final play. I'm okay with that. But, but, but, but, what I would like is belt a butt. What we're aspiring to is belt a butt.
Starting point is 00:01:42 And that's not asking a lot. Iverson Howard leads the Terps with 175-yard rushing. At 3.6 a pop. He's got four scores. throughout the season, Dewan Williams. You know, some big plays on reverses and that sort of deal,
Starting point is 00:02:00 but it's not exactly how you're going to get it done. Harry Dalton, the third, averaging 3.8 carry, three touchdowns. They're pretty good in the return game, averaging 12 and a half a punt return. Not so much in the kick return game. They like to just take the ball and line up. Like they're kind of hoping and wishing
Starting point is 00:02:22 that you kick it out of the end zone, so they don't have to make that decision pretty good in the kicking game, but they don't press much beyond 40 yards. They generally try not to. He can, but he just doesn't. Chris Durr, Jr., 35 receptions so far in the season. 35, he's the guy. He's the guy, and the matchups matter,
Starting point is 00:02:43 and getting him in motion matters. If he lines up on the extremes, his route running is pretty exceptional. He is a space eater. He'll run up on you, get on your toes, and then break off and get to, and he and young Malik have a pretty good relationship when it comes to what they expect of each other, where he wants the ball, needs the ball, et cetera. But you can press him.
Starting point is 00:03:12 The problem is most teams don't want to do that because it takes you out of having somebody with another defender with eyes on Malik Blitz. You just have to be careful. Like, what are you willing sacrifice? But if he's not taking off and running, then guess what? Okay, I can press. Malik Washington, my apologies. He's thrown at 66% completion. It's thrown for 1,000 yards of our six tutsons.
Starting point is 00:03:41 Dangerous. We saw that the last time they were here, but we also saw that there's some chinks in the armor. There are some things that within the game, Again, I think his biggest issue is that somebody has told him to be a pocket quarterback. I would scream from the rafters. Young man, you're an elite level athlete, be athletic. But somebody has whispered to him,
Starting point is 00:04:05 you want to be in the NFL, show him that you can drop back and throw him from the pocket. I'm going, no, man. Put the feet in the ground, man. Make him climb the pocket. Right? But if Nebraska can get home and keep him home, now I will preface that. To get home and keep him home, right?
Starting point is 00:04:30 That means he doesn't step up into green space. He doesn't get around the boundary and get out into space where he can make some chaos happen. But those were all necessary and vital things along the way. So again, I'm going to say this. I like Nebraska and I like the fact. that they're better at most positions. There's some receiver. I mean, DUR is legit.
Starting point is 00:04:59 He's a day one NFL guy if the rest of the season goes the way it should. Washington is athletic and elite in that space, but there are ways to pin him and beat him. But as a coach, I say the best way to finish the right way is to start the right way. and how we started the right way was with a song. So let's reset. Let's re-unite.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Let's get our hands in the huddle, everybody in the middle. And then, young Wyman will lead us to the chorus. Young sir, lead the way. Take us into the A1 Automotive Pre-game show. Yep, we're almost there. Get your hands together, Usker Nation, today is the day to go five and oh.
Starting point is 00:06:01 Sorry, Marilyn. Love you. But as they said, the movie Harlem Knights, the champ looks at his opponent and goes, don't take this butt-whoopin personal. Hail to the boys and go big red. Your favorite team deserves a cup of your favorite coffee.
