Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to One-on-One with D.P. Presented by Beatrice Bakery on 93-7 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com. Welcome back one-on-one on a Friday again. Congratulations. I've all done for a successful week. We made it through. And if you forget, in case you have, if you made it to today, you are undefeated. Nothing's ever got you.
Starting point is 00:00:29 Not once. Rico, from the text line, would you please, sir? From the text line, we were talking about the Wave, the Waverly, athletic village of excellence. I like that. I'm going to call it that. Crowbate says, my sister goes to the boot camps and my nephew practices at the wave,
Starting point is 00:00:44 while Jay and Lincoln chimes in and says, my son and I use their facility, and it is awesome. Easy to reserve space and good people. I love it. That's what we're all about. It's all about the people. That's a great testimony.
Starting point is 00:00:57 Through that, so you and I had talked off air about the possibility of maybe sharing business ideas acumen IQ motivations, inspirations, etc. In this space, what or why would you want to do that? Well, with my blessings, I think I really have learned a lot, especially in the last 10 years. And I've surrounded myself with super smart people that gave me not only advice, but they really helped me out through the business and I just want one I love I love the passion to be an entrepreneur and being a business owner and being an entrepreneur are a little bit different right you can own a business and not
Starting point is 00:01:45 really be an entrepreneur just you can work within the business and but I I am I really love the startup and I think I've really have put a lot of thought and I want to share that with people and I want I want people to know that listen you're you're going to fail and sometimes you probably need fail fast fail and fail hard so but make sure you land on your back so you can see up and then get your butt up and go again baby uh it in our business i teach fail is first attempt in learning f a i have have you heard that before i have uh so we are um i want to tell people out there whether you're doing concrete or stalling doors or finished carpenter at roofing or um selling candles selling flowers, whatever it is,
Starting point is 00:02:35 doing a food truck, whatever it is, go after it and go get it. Now, you're going to grind. And I'm tired of these people trying to tell me, oh, you got to work on your business, not in your business. And I'm like, you know what? No.
Starting point is 00:02:51 When you're first getting started, you've got to do it all. So stop babying yourself. Say that again, louder for the people in the back. You've got to grind it. Man, like, look, and it's no slight to anybody, but the previous owners weren't here. Yeah. And my thing is to understand what it was, you got to be in it. You got to be on it, in it, around it, through it, smell it, taste it, touch it, feel it.
Starting point is 00:03:19 And it shows up in the work, and text line out, your work is said, you're looking good on the big screen box. You're looking good on it. You said that thing yesterday in our conversation that, you know, if you're a candle maker, sometimes you've got to pour and hold a wick in order for it to become what it's supposed to be. Yeah. And you know what? I want to share that with people too. And, you know, it's the same thing with giving and with being the owner.
Starting point is 00:03:52 And everybody's like, oh, you got to pay yourself first. Well, I'm going to tell you, there's a lot of times I skipped a lot of paychecks. I am the lowest paid employee here. I am. I am. Like, that's the reality behind what it is. It really is. And, okay, so business sports talk radio show.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Mm-hmm. There is so many things that are similar in those two things. I am not an NFL player or a collegiate player. It's fortunate that my two older kids both played at Midland. I had great experience. I was not that talented. but I will tell you I feel like I'm training all the time and I'm always working my muscles not me not necessarily lifting weights but I'm always listening to podcasts I'm talking to people
Starting point is 00:04:43 I'm communicating I'm trying to find people that that have already failed so when I do fail it it's not as hard and learn from it and move on so that's that's why I'm passionate about working with you guys to say, hey, let's, let's share this. It's so close. Plus, I told you yesterday, I had no idea. I didn't realize that hardly any of the collegiate athletes go on to be professional. That number is very small. They go to be in business, and most of them are entrepreneurs. A lot of them are entrepreneurs.
Starting point is 00:05:17 And I want to put you in the room with them and them with you. Yeah, let's go talk about it. So that is the plan going forward. You'll hear more about the details of it. Let the folks know how they. can find you and your company. So, on Waverly, we are Empire-Fence.com. That's our website.
Starting point is 00:05:35 We have a really cool drawing tool in there. If you want a backyard fence, you can go on there, draw your fence, get a budget number right away. Also, you can call the office. I'd highly recommend going to the website. It's so much faster. It gets in Q. And Henry and Darren will take good care of you.
Starting point is 00:05:48 If you have a commercial project, give us a call. Look us up. We would love to take care of you. We do work all over the country. We've been as far south of South America. We're in Puerto Rico now. I believe we might have a contract on a job in Hawaii, which is really cool. So we are all over the place, happy to help.
Starting point is 00:06:05 No job is too small, too big. If you can dream it, we can build it. That's good stuff. Matt Warner, kind sir, thank you. I love it. Time this morning. We will do more of this soon. I promise.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Don't go anywhere. 937 the ticket and the ticket FM.com. The captain show for Sean Jackson. He'll be a little late. Rico, I, Nick. We'll hold it down. We'll hold it out. We might have a thing or two to talk.
Starting point is 00:06:28 about. Stay tuned.
