We are back here on one-on-one on 93-7 The Ticket. I'm Jake Bockman. He is Nick Sainert filling in for DP today. Nick, you just got to, it's had a nice bite. I'm looking forward to lunch today. Who for our lunch for it?
Starting point is 00:01:34 Redstone sports bar, man, over by the Lincoln Airport. They hook us up every Thursday for some lunch, and it is delicious. They have, now I'm not usually a big, thin crust guy. Like, I won't, if I go to it, I like to have a little bit of a thicker crust, but I tell you, they have, they brought us a sausage and hamburger, thin crust pizza, and they brought us a mac and cheese pepperoni pizza. You might not think that you would like the latter option. My goodness, the couple of noodles is not overpowering.
Starting point is 00:02:04 with the mac and cheese on it. It is special and it was delicious. And so make sure if you're looking for a great spot to watch the game tonight, Red Zone Sports Bar over by the Lincoln Airport. Great spot. They were packed last week for the Husker game. And Scott over there, he and his team do an unbelievable job. And so trivia on Tuesday nights for Red Zone Sports Bar over by the Lincoln Airport.
Starting point is 00:02:27 Great spot. And I highly recommend any other thing crust pizza. They brought in a jalapino cream cheese. or cream cheese, jalapino pepperoni pizza, and it was splendid a couple of weeks ago. So shout out to Red Zone Sports Bar for always hooking us up every Thursday for lunch.
Starting point is 00:02:43 And of course, as well as being the Sweet 16 day here for Nebraska, it was opening night last night, opening day here for baseball. We're just talking about it's weird. Usually you get ready, you get your jersey on. It's one of those days in baseball.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Everybody celebrates. But this year at Nebraska, the Sweet 16, I forgot all about my jersey. Yeah, I know I forgot to. but it's okay because the Cubs will start their World Series run today. Brighman, a former Red Sock. Right.
Starting point is 00:03:09 Had a stint there. Stay. Yep. Red Sox player. He's gone. He's now with the Cubbies. And so they just signed, you know,
Starting point is 00:03:15 PCA for a long-term deal, six years, $115 million, and which was a steal. And so hopefully, hopefully the Cubs get it going today. They got the nationals this weekend. So we'll see.
Starting point is 00:03:26 And the Yankees, of course, got to win, but that's all we need to talk about. Have you? Well, Aaron Judge, goes over. five in their win.
Starting point is 00:03:33 So, did you watch it on Netflix? Did you? I did. The production was not great. No. I was wondering more than anything. There were times where they were still doing like the intro with the ads and stuff and they would miss like a first pitch and a hit would happen.
Starting point is 00:03:48 So you missed the hit. That's pretty rough. So it wasn't. This time of year, the school calendar really starts to fill up. Starting point is 00:05:47 slash today now and begin your language learning journey. Great. But it was baseball. Now, here's the thing, Bach. Have you seen anything about the ABS, the automatic balls and strikes challenge system this year. Have you heard any of this? No. So for the fans, the casualists that always ask for change to the sport. They change something massive this year. They've tried it in the minors for the last couple of seasons,
Starting point is 00:06:09 and it worked really well last year, where that teams can challenge a ball or strike call. And so it has to be immediate. It has to be immediately after the pitch is thrown because they don't want any feedback from the dugout, because on the dugout they get instant, not instant, but a couple of second delay of feedback where the pitch was. It's within, I think, two seconds.
Starting point is 00:06:32 The pitcher, catcher, or batter are the only three with the ones that have power to challenge the call. And so basically what happens is each team gets two challenges per game. You lose your challenge, or excuse me, you lose the challenge, you lose your challenge. If you win the challenge, you get to keep your challenge. Last night we saw it play out in the regular season for the first time. Batter tapped his helmet. You tap your helmet to signify the challenge. the entire stadium gets to see it.
Starting point is 00:06:58 And so the home plate umpire will come on the microphone and say, the batters challenge the strike call. And it'll be, you go up on the, it's like a we sports thing. And it just pops up on the screen. And it either tells you if it's a ball or strike. And it shows you where it was on the strike zone,
Starting point is 00:07:14 how much of the ball hit the zone. And if it missed it by how much. And so it's for a second. We get robo home. Yeah, for a second. Yeah. So last, last night, the Giants, there was one where the Giants challenged it,
Starting point is 00:07:27 and the Giants batter challenged it, thought it was a ball. The umpire called it a strike. It turned out it was a strike. And so it stayed a strike and the San Francisco Giants lost one of their challenges. That is so intriguing to me just because I know in the dugout, like if you do that, it's your,
Starting point is 00:07:43 you know, then everybody else doesn't have that chance in the next to bat, right? If you use your challenges. So I think that's very intriguing. I know you probably not a big fan of Roboump coming to the future, but yeah, Are you? Are you against it?
Starting point is 00:07:56 So somebody that's worked with minor league baseball teams and stuff. I've seen this consistently. I like it a lot. I think I like this ABS, the automatic balls and strike system a lot. I do not want robo-ups. Not altogether. Nope.
Starting point is 00:08:09 Nope. I think it's really good where it's at right now. Yeah. Sweet 16 box. Sweet 16 is here. I can't believe it. We're none of us going to really believe it. We're here.
Starting point is 00:08:18 We're along for the ride. Nebraska. Iowa couldn't be any better way to set it up. Thanks again, Nick Santer for it. jumping in with me today on one-on-one. Adam Carrier Show coming up next year on 93-7 the ticket. He'll talk all about that sweet 16 against Iowa coming up next.
