No, we'll turn that off right now. Oh, I just, I put on my silk shirt with the open chest and the big collars that sit above the lapel of my blazer. I was throwing dark. Polyester pants. High, high-wasted polyester pants, mind you. And back then, you would go to the dance club in these things called earthyster pants. shoes. They were earth shoes. Brown, tanish brown. Okay. With, thick rubber. Souls. Souls. The souls looked like, it was just, I mean, depending on the level of the shoe.

But yeah, I think we called them earth shoes. I, text, I can tell me if I'm wrong. But they were, they were these tan and you could get them in low levels or you can get them in like ankle cut boots that you would wear with with with slacks and they're like the jesus sandals today people call them like mock not the mok no they they weren't sandals they were they were they were shoes i want to say they they were like they were like dress casual dress boots but not boots they had the boots um you know and they sat on on uh yeah earth shoes earth shoes yeah i that yeah i I don't know if like someone jumped on it, but there is just a site called Earth Shoes

and they looked like semi-formal, semi-casual shoes. Like, so. And they're tan. Did you, where did you buy, where did your family buy shoes when you, when you were born out like here? Oh, we went up to Dunham Sports.

Dunham Sports. Yeah, there's like, I think it was the only athletic store left open them all up in Yankton. Or we'd go to Sioux Falls. So we would go to a place, we had a place in Virginia that was called, it was called Hawn. Hans shoes.

And Hans is where everybody went and got their shoes. Hans or Sears is where you got your shoe. And I think, so I'm looking at the Earth's shoes that they say, and yes, and, okay. So, Wallabies. Wallabies is what they were. Wallabies is the one that I would take it up. But Earth's shoes in full because there were other versions of it that were just Earth's shoes. But Wallabies, W-A-L-L-A-B-Y, Wallaby.

And it was the thing. It was the thing. Like for high school kids, in the late 70s, early 80s, wallabies was the thing. Yeah, that was Zags, the Ziggs, the Ziggs, the Rebox? Yeah, we would go,

so early 70s it was Converse, black converse, white converse, pro cats. Every now and then, you would run into somebody with Adidas, but not really. Then. Tracts you, right? Well, no, it was just, it was like a shellto.

Oh, okay. Right? The Adidas with the shelltoe. Converse and, well, Converse was the shoe. ProCads. If you look back to NBA in the early 70s, it was Converse, mainly Converse. Nobody played the league with ProCeds. Then they start getting into the sponsorship side of it.

Dr. J was probably the first Jordan-esque superstar in it. Yeah, I would think that that was the real, the Celtics, they had Bill Russell played in a low top Adidas, no, converse. He had a converse with a star on it, right? You ain't had a reboc. No, but so again, that Dr. Jay in the 70s,

late 70s was kind of the launch for shoes. You can go back further, George Gervin, Dr. J. John Havlicek,

those are the ones. And then from Jordan, from from Dr. J to Magic and Bird where the Converse All-Star, the leather shoe, jumped into it. Because it was canvas before that. And then leather jumped back, it jumped into it in the late, I want to say 76, 77. The Dr. J. All-Star was what was there.

And then P.F. Flyers? P.F. Flyers was 60s, 50, 60s. Yes, that's 60s. But pros weren't wearing the P.F. Flyer. Okay. Like if you go and watch the, the, the, the, the Bill Russell Celtics, um, Converse All-Star, the black Converse All-Stars was kind of what they wore. It, that's mainly Congress says Bob Cousy, though, did wear the BF Lies. I would, but he wasn't, I would imagine that Mike and George Mikean probably played in

PF Flyers. Like that's what the kids in, you know, that's just what they ran around in. And then, yeah, I think the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the Mount Rushmore of shoes because as shoes started to take effect, I mean, football, I mean, it was like spot built back in the day, man. You show me those old football shoes. Oh, those were, uh, in matter of fact, I mean, think about how many of the guys played in high top black boots.

Like those spot built black boots. Oh, those were army boots, bro. Yeah. You're playing football with army boots with spikes with cleats. It was terrible. I don't know anybody like you, the fact that you gave me. Marion Motley at 265 pounds paying fullback and you gave him army boots with cleats on him. Like the fact that Jim Brown had any speed at all wearing those shoes.

Spikes were crazy on those too. Oh, I mean, same for baseball. Those baseball spikes, man. Let me tell you, those are church shoes with spikes. That wasn't cool at all. Like it wasn't cool at all. And they had the big, huge oversized tongues, which they don't do now. You had to oversize flat tongue, so you would tie it and then flap the tongue down over top of it.

Right? And that was the protector, but it would often show up like pitchers and otherwise. And to go from the low top baseball spikes. Those are so bad. Mizzuno. Yep. was what I was wearing in high school. My high school team, we all wore Mozilla.

College, we all wore Converse made us custom color in the school color. Puma. Puma was big in the 70s. Yeah. They're a big track and field. Well, Puma was a big football. And then it moved over to baseball and basketball. Puma was big.

Under Armour didn't exist until the 19. No, they didn't really break on the main stage in basketball. They did a lot of stuff with dry fit, cold gear. They're good with like hunters. That stuff didn't happen until 90s, 2000. Yeah, and then Stephanie. Terry helped him in the NBA final. Well, no, no, it was Maryland.

Like Maryland, these were Maryland students. Those, that's who are the creators of Underarm. Those are the University of Maryland students. Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah, that was how that happened. Reebok, Reebok got in. it was a borderline sports shoe and then it became a fashion shoe. So there was when aerobics took over that I think Olivia Newton, John, you know, let's get physical.

Yeah. The white high top Reeboks, they were kind of puffy with a with a Velcro attachment. Like you've velcroed it shut. You tie it, but then you had to be. these two vocal straps at the top. And you can wear the black ones and people wore them with that.

They were real big with leggings. They were real big with Zubas. So Zubas in the 80s. The Zuba pants and the Zuma pants with Reeboks was kind of the deal. And then the Reebok pumps

that they did. And then Mars Blackman and Jordan when Spike Lee did the, he did like kind of a film. Oh. He kind of did a film with as Mars Blackman with Michael Jordan.

And that was the push for Jordan Air Jordan. That's right. I remember watching a little video on that. Please, baby, please, baby. Yeah. No, it was, it was the thing. Spike had a big part of the production. It's got to be the shoes.

It's got to be the shoes, Mike. Legendary. Yo, it was so good. I, you mentioned Pat Ewing. So his, his brand, his shoe brand, has made a comeback. It is a smoke show right now with Ewing. What does new shoes look like?

Oh, no, they went back to the old version of it, but what they did is they now made them custom to fit any team or any color combination. He has a commander's burgundy and gold. He has a Huskers red and white in the Ewing's. Oh, let me tell you, I couldn't play ball in them, but I sure could wear him. Oh, the red and white Ewing, the current red, he makes a red, a Husker, red and white Ewing.

And boy, I would, yeah, I will wear it in season. The all white Ewing's, they're almost too pretty to wear. Yeah, I'm looking at them right now. They got a nice icy blue pair of, they got the, they got the, the, the, the Knicks colors. The, the, the, the Knicks blue and orange. Oh, it's so good. It's so good. It's good.

Yeah, I'm a shoe dog, man. I get into the Ewing's, and then the next Curry version will be in place. Yeah, I've gone Adidas simply because I'm here in an Adidas town. But when I was in a Nike town, I wore Nike's. When I was in an

Underarmor. The one thing about Adidas, it's very comfortable. That's one thing I always... That wasn't always the case. They've done a better job now. I believe it. Because Adidas, I wouldn't have been caught dead in Adidas 20 years no chance like there's never a picture of me 20 years ago wearing a deed never happened never happened and but under armor was soft which is as i got older bad feet like i want comfort so it's a

thing and there's some really cool Nebraska basketball shoes and the transition to Nebraska basketball from Reebok you know the the big the big eight days yep uh to now under a and you watch the the Husker players and what they're wearing, it's some version, somewhere the Hardin, somewhere the, Dame Lillard's. Right, there's some version of the Adidas. Well, LeBron doesn't have an Adidas cut, does he?

He's got his Nikes. Yeah, when you, Huskers wear a deep, they wear Adidas. Oh, I see what you're saying. Right. So the end game, there's some really good Husker Adidas, high top and low top, depending on the type of player. sure I could play in low tops anymore.

The low tops? I would roll my ankle. Oh, okay. I would roll my ankle. They're made. They look like a low top, but they still hold your feet so much better than I feel like it. Well,

they have mids that sit right at the ankle. Yeah, like a paramed, the low low tops, like I could. I'll have to trust the ballers now and you tell me what, what they wear. But if you look at the pictures of what Frager, Sanford, uh,

what they're wearing, uh, watch them in their team pictures. and their videos that they put out. Yeah, that's what I pay attention to. Those are not, Dias does then a better job. My favorite pair,

still the Kobe's. When you start getting to low-cut Kobe's, those were so comfortable. The Air Jordan 11 is the goat. That is the goat. Air Jordan 11 is the shoe that I grew up on was those Kobe's. It's the goat. The Kobe's,

you can't go wrong with the Covys, but anything Jordan back, any of, I've got a pair of Nebraska color All-Star Convers. I got the white with the, red star and I'm afraid to wear them here. That's how much I love those shoes. I don't I wouldn't wear them. I'm afraid to wear. I'm afraid to wear them somewhere. Oh, I love them so much. I can't stand it, but it's a full on thing.
