Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to One-on-One with D.P. Brought to by Canopy Street Market on 93-7 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com. We're back here on one-on-one, wrapping things up. Once again, D.P. has a travel day. So it's myself, Jake Bockerman here in studio with Ellie. And Ellie, I shouldn't say this on air, but I only know you as Ellie. I don't even know what your last name is. What is your last name?
Starting point is 00:00:30 I'm sure I was just saying. I know. Well, we call you Bach. So, like, for a long time, I didn't know. I say, do you know my last name now? Bakavid. Okay, you can know it. I know it now.
Starting point is 00:00:40 You've got me beat. But for the longest time, my last name's Apple. It's Apple in German. So if you were to go to Germany and look up anything Apple related, it would be my last thing. See, now I learned something to me. That's good. A little tidbit about myself. So I did promise a little court design talk.
Starting point is 00:00:57 This coming from DBK the other day saying that, you know, she helped design this new court at Bob Devaney Sports Center. They've got the Husker outline or excuse me, the Nebraska State. outline on it. Of course, over there at Pinnacle Bank Arena, they've got the big Herbie in the middle. They're doing a new court design there. DBK said she initially wanted to have Herbie Husker on the volleyball court. Would you been, would you've been opposed to this? Or would you been pro Herbie on the volleyball court? I don't know, because I look at the court design that they have now. I'm like, okay, that's spiffy. Like, that's cool. I think a Herbie, I like the Herbie.
Starting point is 00:01:29 I think it's a fun little thing that they would do. But compared to the Nebraska silhouette of the state it's a little bit more. Herbie makes you kind of look a little soft in a way. Right. Like it's cartoonish. Yes. It's kind of cartoonish. But like the Nebraska state logo, that's cool. I think it's a good addition.
Starting point is 00:01:49 And also, well, if you're looking, I'm thinking about different court designs that they have across the Big Ten, like in Oregon. Their basketball court, you can't even see where the lines are. Really. That's. Good idea.
Starting point is 00:02:04 a hideous. Yes, the idea was there. I could see like we wanted to do something fun and exciting with that. Like no one else is doing that, clearly. But for Nebraska, I like it's subtle. It's also just you can tell that it's a little bit different than what they had before. Obviously, they're adding a little bit little details here and there. Creighton also did it to their floors.
Starting point is 00:02:28 They added it's like the Creighton Blue Jay. I know I'm talking about Creighton Blue Jays. Sue me. Go back to talk about Taylor. I know. It's like, what do you want from me? I nothing I say. But they have different details from what a feather of a blue jay would look like.
Starting point is 00:02:46 That's cool. They're just little things that it's like Taylor Swift, Easter eggs, but don't think about it in that way. Easter eggs that you wouldn't notice if you were to look at it from like a huge, like, a huge. Like I'm sitting at a Nebraska volleyball game. I could maybe spend a little bit of time trying to find the little details that they'd added. But that's the fun part about designing new things and making it specific to the state or, in this case, specifically Nebraska volleyball. That's what I enjoy and that's what I like to see. And that's something that bleep, Creighton, I know, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:03:25 But it's something that's cool to see, especially that DBK, our head coach, gets to be a part of that. And that kind of sets the tone for her. It's a new, it's a new era of Nebraska volleyball. So with that new era means new court. You get a new John Cook Arena. You get a John Cook statue
Starting point is 00:03:45 in front of Devaney. Like there's little You don't lose anymore. You go undefeated. Exactly. Not going wood. We got, they're also doing for the Washington game. They're doing color blocking. So a specific section has to wear white. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Another section wears red. So I'm excited to see what that looks like. It's going to be with the new court and you expand that out. It's just going to go checker, checker, checker, which is especially against the team like Washington where it's, I feel like it's the rask all the way. You got to do fun little things for the fans to enjoy that and to line up for any of those games.
Starting point is 00:04:22 Yes, absolutely. Absolutely. That will be fun to see. And I always say about volleyball, too, just all the banners and the player, you know, previous. I mean, I love all that. stuff. So they do a great job of celebrating their past. Thanks again
Starting point is 00:04:34 to Ellie Appel. Ellie Appel. And Jake Bachman. And Jake Bachman, myself. Yes, here. We know our last names now. On one one with DP. Adam Gerger coming next year on 937 the ticket.
