Starting point is 00:00:00 We are back here on one-on-one on 93-7. The ticket D-P is out. Today should be back by Monday. He does have court duty coming up, so that we'll see kind of the availability of him moving forward. There's not much you can do about that. But in the meantime, we can have some fun here on one-on-one,
Starting point is 00:00:17 a two-hour edition of one-on-one with myself, Jake Bokkavin and Austin Orman in studio. As we're going through the NFLPA report cards, of course, they do this every year to my, to my knowledge, they did not know this, they tried to bury this, but I'm glad you mentioned, Austin, there at the end,
Starting point is 00:00:36 the NFL did not want these grades coming out, but here we are. The rationale from the NFL, well, really, this was the arbitrator, the arbitrators, what the, I just thought it was arbiter, but arbitrator, okay, from the USPN article,
Starting point is 00:00:51 found that the report cards violated the CBA by disparaging NFL clubs and individuals. Well, you know, the easiest way to not get, get disparaged is to, I don't know, maybe like, upgrade your facilities or like give guys more leg room on the plane. It doesn't seem like a big ask if some of these, these organizations can do it. But anyways, that's the rationale. The arbitrator found that nope, you can't be saying bad things about your boss like that. But here we are. We got all the, we all the bad things being said.
Starting point is 00:01:21 So it isn't at least entertaining. And maybe we won't get these, you know, if they crack down on this moving forward. But for now, it is always good. radio to go through each, you know, because everybody wants to know, you know, texting in about, you know, how do the Packers doing? You know, how does everybody kind of fare out? So it is a lot of fun. Again, we're kind of just going through the highlights and low lights of most of the teams. But for the Chiefs, I'll go ahead and just rattle off quickly because every, every ranking,
Starting point is 00:01:47 because I know there are a lot of Chiefs fans around here. Treatment of Families C, home game field, A-minus. Okay. I'm surprised there, having visited myself. Well, that's one of those, Bach that, you know, if they had done this after the regular season in the home store is ACL on that field. Maybe that's an F. Yeah, might, might be. Food and dining area gets a C plus, nutrition, dietitian, gets an A minus. Locker room gets an F. Woof. They never want an F. Training room gets a C minus training staff
Starting point is 00:02:13 as C. Weight room B, strength coaches B plus, position coaches C plus, offensive coordinator C plus, defense coordinator A, special teams coordinator B, team's coordinator B, team travel D-minus, head coach A general manager B-plus and team ownership C-plus, Kansas City Chiefs coming at 27th with all those, all those ranking. A lot of that actually checks out. I am not a Chiefs fan that's, you know, been established. But with a lot of the Kansas City people I'm in contact with and follow along, you know, I get some of the residual chiefs stuff when it's, you know, NFL season, which it's
Starting point is 00:02:50 royal season again. thank goodness, Holly, yeah, they're back. But a lot of that makes sense, you know, there have been some complaints about ownership, not spending. You know, they need some facilities upgrades. Okay, C++ makes sense. B plus for general manager, haven't really heard anything bad about Brett Beach,
Starting point is 00:03:05 maybe a little too loyal to his guys and the drafting hasn't been there, but it seems like he's been a fair negotiator. Obviously, Andy Reid at head coach makes sense. Matt Nagy is offensive coordinator for this last year. Yeah, I believe C plus. I don't think, you know, Matt Nagy was a jerk or anything, but I think he was just kind of,
Starting point is 00:03:21 of fine, just kind of there, which is what a C plus is. And A for Steve Spagnolam, yep, I think his players really like playing for him, and he does a good job. Special teams, sure, position coaches, they made some moves. It doesn't shock me that the position coaches would say, eh, is this guy really the best for me that that checks out. Training staff, nutritionist, dietitian, whatever, so be it. But then we get down to, you know, locker room again,
Starting point is 00:03:46 I think that goes back to ownership, not wanting to spend in the training room to upgrade the facilities. It is always funny to me, though, Bach, if we look at a team like Kansas City getting a C in treatment of families, when you look at, you know, maybe Cincinnati are like, you know, nice old Tampa, like out of the way,
Starting point is 00:04:02 getting a D plus for treatment of families, Pittsburgh getting an F. And that one shocks me kind of with, you know, how well ownership is spoken of from the outside looking in. But especially, you know, like the chiefs getting a low, low, er grade in treatment of families, the Packers with a C plus in treatment of families.
Starting point is 00:04:18 What happened in the Colts C plus? What happened to Midwest nice? That's right. Why can't we just have the families over for a potluck, right? You know, you bring the fruit salad, you bring a casserole, you bring the dinner rolls, whatever. It's just funny to see these Midwest teams. That'd be nice to the players' families. Like, come on.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Yeah. It's the Midwest. What is that? You're not giving too many tickets away for family or whatever. Like how often do you run into the family too? I'm not sure. But you can look at this. And, of course, the chiefs have been talking about moving their stadiums.
Starting point is 00:04:50 the Raiders certainly did, and they were not at the top of these rankings a lot of time in Oakland. Now in Los Angeles, their team overall number six. So treatment of families, A, I mean, pretty much A plus, pretty much across the board. Office coordinator cut an F. So they did not like that.
Starting point is 00:05:09 But that's the only, really, the only downside. I mean, head coach got a C plus there. There's a few Cs basically on the coaching staff. But from ownership and from, you know, facility-wise, it's all A-plus. in A minus or A. Yeah, get better coaching staff and the Raiders might finish fourth.
Starting point is 00:05:24 Oh, wait. Wait, wait, wait, wait a minute. I got some work to do. Yeah, they do. Chargers came in at 15th overall team ownership, A minus general manager B plus, head coach, Harbaugh, it's a C plus. That sounds about right, actually.
Starting point is 00:05:42 You know, I think that there are some similarities between like a Jim Harbon and PJ Fleck, and you have more of a choice in college. right. You need to have less of a choice, you know, where you get drafted, or if the chargers are your only offer, you're going to end up taking it. But I can believe that, you know, Jim Harbaugh, like Nebraska, is not for everybody. Yeah. I'm sure there are plenty of guys on the team that that love him would do anything for him,
Starting point is 00:06:05 go to bat for him. I'm sure there are plenty of guys that kind of roll their eyes of the stick. Yeah, Jim, you were okay as an NFL quarterback, you know, but, you know, you came back from college, you know, which are you, one foot in, one foot out. You just kind of off, which is endearing to some and just kind of, yeah, whatever, man, just go coach football. So I think a C plus is perfectly middle of the road and
Starting point is 00:06:26 makes a lot of sense for Jim Harbaugh. Yeah, yeah, I do too. I, you know, like you said, just going to, some people will love it. Some people will, it will bother them with his personality. I would go to the Rams here. They came in 19th overall. General Manager gets an A, head coach gets an A plus. A lot of
Starting point is 00:06:42 A's on here, but some bad, some bad too for considering how new the SoFi Stadium is food and dining area gets a D, locker room gets a D. Yeah, kind of weird to C field. That's another one that, you know, it hasn't been
Starting point is 00:06:57 quite as multi-purpose as like a Lucas oil, but I'm sure there's plenty of concrete underneath that tariff that they have out there. Team travel being a B, I mean, you're probably flying out to LAX a lot. Yeah. That seems, okay, good for those guys. Maybe they have a private airfield. I don't know, whatever it is. But yeah, kind of weird, it's so
Starting point is 00:07:16 new a stadium that they have. You couldn't have built some momentum into it? What could be wrong about the Rams locker room so far? Yeah, yeah. I'm not sure. To get a D like you I mean, even if it's a C I would have been surprised, but all the way B down to a D is interesting. Let's go to the Vikings here. They're number two overall A's and Bs across the board. Did not have one C or anything below that. So team
Starting point is 00:07:42 ownership gets an A plus. Yeah, so doing pretty good there for the Vikings. Pat on the back, Vikings. In fact, you actually went above and beyond your front office GPA. You got a 4.15. You're on the AP course there. So good job to management and ownership in that regard. Brian Flores is defensive coordinator with a B plus. I think he's an A level game caller,
Starting point is 00:08:05 maybe a little lower than I would have put him. But again, I think that's a guy known for being intense. You know, maybe there's some guys in that locker. I'm like, okay, coach, you can back off a little bit. We get your point. But I think that's the guy, the more you play for him, the more you get to know him, the more of these guys talk about how much they appreciate playing for Brian Flores
Starting point is 00:08:23 and his kind of playing style. It is interesting, too, just seeing the various levels of success, I think among this top group, because when you think about, you know, organizational culture, oh yeah,
Starting point is 00:08:34 I mean, if you have good organizational culture, everything's just going to fall into place. You know, it's all going to be really good. Has that really been the case for the dolphins? Commanders have been more down than up recently with a good year or two sprinkled in there,
Starting point is 00:08:46 Minnesota has had its moments but hasn't, you know, absolutely dominated the NFL. Seattle might be getting back to that. But again, do you think of Seattle when you think of one of the most successful franchises in the NFL? You really don't. And then Houston, you know, from the one that the Jay sent me in the top five, again, kind of a mixed bag of success. So, I mean, clearly, organizational culture matters to some degree. But then you go down the list and you see the Rams in the middle of the pack. You see the chiefs close to to the bottom than then towards the top. You see, you know, Tampa Bay that's won a Super Bowl recently and has a pretty good
Starting point is 00:09:23 opinion from the outside in all the way down there as well. You mean, you see New Orleans rank in the top 10. What have they done, you know, in the last seven or eight years? Not a whole bunch. It's really interesting to see that, you know, we know that the culture matters, but to what extent? Yeah. And especially, I mean, jumped out to me with the Steelers and obviously Mike Tomlin.
Starting point is 00:09:45 and yeah, they haven't, you know, but you would consider them as one of the best franchises, you know, over the long period of time, but even certainly over the last couple decades, and for them to come in, what, dead last year, it's just like,
Starting point is 00:09:58 really, it's kind of a wake-up call. It should be. Yeah. It should be. But, I mean, you think about some of those other teams that are closer,
Starting point is 00:10:05 you know, to the bottom, I know Jay speaks glowingly about his time with the New York James, which he could have gotten there early in his career. He says it's a first-class organization. and the current players seem to disagree, right? Houston was a pretty fledgling organization when Jay got there,
Starting point is 00:10:21 and they ended up rating really high. But even like the Packers, right? You know, the family run, family environment, AC plus, you know, in terms of the treatment of families, that's, I think, always been looked at as a, you know, maybe cheap organization just because of, you know, where it's located, market size and whatnot. But for them to rank, you know, middle bottom of the pack,
Starting point is 00:10:41 just kind of interesting to see, you know, that fan perception doesn't always, match what the players view is reality. Yeah, yeah, it has been interesting. We've got a few more teams to go. We can do that on the other end of the break on 93.7. The ticket will be right back. Watch live on Facebook, YouTube, or Twitch.
Starting point is 00:10:56 You're listening to one-on-one with DP on 937 the tickets and the ticket FM.com.
