Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to One-on-One with DP. Brought to you by Canopy Street Market on 93-7 the ticket and the ticketfm.com. The ultimate Husker. When you look into Husker universe. We never understood what Ultimate Warrior were saying. And the fact that he couldn't say Warrior. Warrior. First of the things, buddy.
Starting point is 00:00:38 I miss you. So, Bach, in the number, number, number, numbers. We're looking at it. So here's some of the other program projections, right? That basketball would get men's basketball. Yeah, men's basketball. 15, 15 spots on the roster. Average per actually higher than football.
Starting point is 00:01:09 Because there's only 15 spots rather than 105. right but at 16 and a half percent I would think 15 percent is the national average 15 percent of that and they're imagining that the team will have three million dollars three million dollars just write that number check
Starting point is 00:01:36 because it's the thing right that in some programs hockey hockey would actually be third Baseball, 34 roster positions received 2% of the cap. 2%. That's not a lot. That's not a lot at all. So imagine the average baseball player receiving $10,000.
Starting point is 00:02:02 The team, 350,000. Women's basketball, 250,000. 14 spots. actually averaging 16,000. So imagine just say 15,000 per play. 15,000 for women players, 200,000 for men. That will be a point of discussion,
Starting point is 00:02:32 especially since the ratings, women's college basketball, God, way up. Way up. And they can actually use Final Four now. So that's a thing. Can actually use it. Wrestling. one we're pretty close to half a percent half a percent not even one percent
Starting point is 00:02:55 that wrestling would have to work from 125 thousand dollars 125 thousand dollars they're 30 wrestlers that's 4,000 a kid for wrestling you think Penn State you think that you think Penn State's going to stick with that number that's what's interesting is all that you know the where each school cares about maybe the maybe that are money generating sports, but there's a major care factor. You know, it might be different from women's basketball to volleyball, obviously here at Nebraska, wrestling, other places. Like, each school is going to have their own sport that they particularly care a little bit more about.
Starting point is 00:03:36 There is no chance. Let's just say that the number three sport was hockey and Penn State doesn't have hockey. So they take that half a million and put it towards wrestling. At $600,000, that's still nothing. There's no chance of Penn State. from that number. And they're not going to cut football. They're not going to cut basketball.
Starting point is 00:03:56 Not in the Big Ten. Good heavens. Volleyball. $100,000. There's zero chance for Nebraska volleyball sits at $100,000 in the NIL and revenue share. Zero chance.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Zero. Not happening. No. Now, Nebraska doesn't have hockey, so you've got a half million to play with. But that's assuming it doesn't go to basketball. And I'm not, I'm pretty sure. quarter of a million dollars for women's basketball at the University of Nebraska.
Starting point is 00:04:27 You think that's possible? I don't think so. Especially, yeah, Brett Prince is in the building. And you need another Brett Prince just to compete with UCLA and USC. Like one's good. Like, just like softball. You have a majority ball, but you need two. You need two.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Softball, 23, They projected $100,000. Again, $4,000. The scholarship is in play, right? Scholarship, tuition, all those things, that's in play. So that's a suit. But everybody gets it.
Starting point is 00:05:07 So that's not a plus. Even if Nebraska's tuition is worth more than merit. Like the value is the air quotes thing, right? What the value of it is. Track and field. 50 athletes. And they're talking about less than, man, that is some brutal numbers. That's less than a thousand an athlete.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Track and field. We know different parts of the country. Track matters a lot. Oregon's going to, I think Oregon's going to do a little more than that. Yeah, I think they are. These numbers are remarkable. 17 beach volleyball athletes.
Starting point is 00:05:49 Again, additional revenue if you're a school like Nebraska where you have traditional volleyball and beach volleyball and you use the same athletes, some additional money in play. Not enough money, another $1,000 per young person. Tennis, that you're going to get $17,000, $20,000. These numbers are insane. But that's why I wanted to give them. Because Nebraska has to figure out, one, how much it wants to spend,
Starting point is 00:06:14 what everybody else is spending, how to compete, and then how to be successful. And in order to do those things you have to figure out for success to be defined, what is at the top of your peer? what matters most. And if it's money, student athlete experience, fan experience, right, fan being happy, satisfied,
Starting point is 00:06:37 student athletes having the best community that they can be a part of, whatever that thing is, Nebraska will be tasked with finding out what that is. Good luck, Nebraska. Good luck. Don't go anywhere. Captain's show coming up on all the streams here
Starting point is 00:06:56 on the ticket. Royals are on the brick and mortar, but you can stay with us in studio. If you jump on the app, YouTube, Facebook, X, or Allo Channel 961, the captain show coming up next here on the ticket.
