Starting point is 00:00:00 to one-on-one with DP. Presented by Beatrice Bakeray on 93-7 the ticket and the ticket FM.com. Oh, that's good. Welcome back to one-on-one. Jake Sorensen just tested it. Tested the cake. And he said it tastes like fig Newton. Yep, that hit on the head.
Starting point is 00:00:23 That, man, except for it's natural and it's not filler. Yeah. Yeah, this is, it's organic and it's not filler. Wow. That's good. Okay, that makes sense to me. That makes sense to it. I'm surprised it like Rico didn't sprint back into the door
Starting point is 00:00:40 because he would eat a sleeve of Figg-Newtons in one sitting. Yeah. He's probably sitting up there with his little AirPods in. Right. I want to read this one. And again, you guys can go to the ticketfm.com and look for the Beatrice's Bakery nominations tab and have that it. Here's one that we just got in and greatly appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:01:04 The nominee is Coach Brian Duran. Wrestling coach not only loves the sport of wrestling, but he loves the athletes just as much. He says and shows he cares daily. Last season, his son was overweight, so he couldn't wrestle. Coach still welcome to one of the team with open arms this season. He decided not to wrestle, but Coach Duran continually reach out to check on his well-rength.
Starting point is 00:01:29 being, he's the true definition of the word coach. We couldn't be more thankful to him for the impact he's had on the lives of these young men. That's a great nomination, and I think we can do that. We can do a care package. That should be, yeah, that would make sense. So we'll do that as well. More nominations on a Friday have at it. Please do.
Starting point is 00:01:53 You can hit them on the text line. You can do that. You can go through the website. That allows us to track and we can put more information on there because on the website, it gives names and phone numbers and emails so we can communicate with them as well. But if you nominate somebody and you hear their name being called, let them know to reach out to us and give them the Honda Lincoln Hotline 402-464-5-685 to reach out and make sure that we can set up delivery of said care package.
Starting point is 00:02:23 Back to the text line, what's up, DP. What's up, TD? I do appreciate you as a former coach and your insight. I coach middle school football for 23 years, defense, recently retired. I miss being around the kids and guiding them through those troublesome middle school years. Keep up the great work big. Listen, I'm a fan of coaches and educators and responders, helpers, those people who lead through action, right? I don't just talk about it.
Starting point is 00:02:48 They're actually out there with the kids. And the fact that to deal with middle school kids where there's so much up and down, so much fluctuation between what's normal and what's not normal and they need those boundaries and guidance. Coach, if you would, if you will allow text in your information, I'd like to send you a care package. I'd like to offer one. You need to come get her, we can send it. But 23 years of coaching is something to celebrate. It's something to cheer. We need more, we need more folks like you. Simple deal. We need you. That's there.
Starting point is 00:03:29 Got another nomination. And I'll read this. My friend Sarah at Ruta Vegas, being a restaurant owner is hard. And she always has a sunny disposition about battling business ownership, especially during a pandemic. She's a great friend and mom,
Starting point is 00:03:45 and I appreciate her. Well, we will have a care package for Sarah. Let us know whether they want to come pick it up. You want to come pick it up and deliver it for her. or we can have it deliver it next week. Whatever way works, now that's what we'll do. Again, Fridays are for smiles.
Starting point is 00:04:05 And Beatrice Bakery allows us to do that. Again, you can go through the nomination tab on the website. You can text. You can text me. You can text the Sartorhaman text line. Whatever way of communicating that you want to do that, please do. Nick, I will send you this one as well.
Starting point is 00:04:22 So you have the name. And you're going to have so many. emails here in a second. You got bombarded, bro, in the best possible way. That's all good stuff. In the best possible way. Let me know if you can see this one that I'm sending you because it's got some stuff in that we want to.
Starting point is 00:04:46 Let me know if both of those go to. Let me just say that. So, yeah, you can do those nominations. And again, it could be somebody who's just had a tough week. You know, it could be somebody who's had a great week. The whole point and purpose is to allow people to say, you know what, we're thinking of you. You're worthy of consideration. And these are tough times.
Starting point is 00:05:11 Okay, so did you get both of those? Let me know if you got both of them. Yes, we are good. Okay. Yeah, I mean, we go through this thing, right? And through all of this holiday season, people are grinding. And we know that some restaurants are struggling. the fact that you guys are there grinding you're trying to find people to to work people who want to work
Starting point is 00:05:34 right simple all that stuff you know to do that so coach if you would text in uh please do a kubski says whoever nominated fedex fedex express thank you in advance as i work for fredx Express. Cubs could do this. Stop by the station. And you guys have a meeting place. You have some place where you can get together as a group, right? Somewhere in a lounge or something. If that is true, there's a place for you guys to get together. And just simply let it be said, the 9-37 second and be out of respect for thinking of.
Starting point is 00:06:19 Thank you, Tim. Greatly appreciate it. So we got that one. Nick, if you can pull that one off that, that would be great. And we can send them or you can come get them. You just have to let us know which one you want to want it done. Cubsker, if you can swing by and you want to do that for the gang, right? You want to be able to just show up to work on Monday, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:37 and have a care package in hand. Let me know. We'll do that. It doesn't take much. It doesn't take much. I got a text saying, you know, can I nominate my mom? Absolutely. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:06:52 You can nominate your mom. You can nominate your wife. you can nominate your best friend. You can nominate the whole point behind that, right? You know, where we just go through the motions and we get distracted by the task at hand and we forget that there's some humanity and just having somebody pat you on the back and somebody to, you know, just say, hey, look, here's something just for you, you, just because.
Starting point is 00:07:19 Thank you, Taylor. As a matter of fact, Taylor also, I mean, you're loyal. you're faithful, you're good. Stop by. Let me know when you can stop by the station. I know you don't have as much freedom as you used to. But stop by. It's joyful to go through and be able to do the small things that we're going to do.
Starting point is 00:07:46 I was going to get into the basketball situation. This Auburn game is going to be bananas. One team without a head coach, the other team without players. It's supposed to be a neutral site, but it's closer to Auburn than it is to Nebraska. So I would imagine, expect a pretty raucous Auburn crowd, but it is a fundraising event. It's one of several, an entire day full of games at that venue. And so it should be pretty interesting.
Starting point is 00:08:21 But hopefully, you know, the Nebraska kids feel well enough to show up and perform. So I'm expecting more details on who made the trip and who didn't, how folks are feeling. It's not easy to do, go on the road and handle your business when you don't have all your soldiers and the ones that are there are fighting some stuff that they've got to deal with. And it's, you know, that time of season two. Final exams and everything before folks take off and get home. Pretty simple. So we're going to root for them.
Starting point is 00:08:53 And then tomorrow at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The 9-0 Lady Huskers. I, you know, they're not ranked in the top 20 yet, but they're 9 and 0. And I, that's very hard to do. I mean, even if they're playing, you know, the YMCA, it's very hard to do. They're 9 and O, they go on the road and get a win, and then they face Minnesota, and they get a win, and they come home tomorrow at 1 o'clock and face Indiana State, home of the fighting Larry Birds, the sycamores of Indiana State.
Starting point is 00:09:26 and those women have battled. They play a style of play, and folks had been really tough on Amy Williams the last couple of years because she couldn't get them to the tournament. But she kept plugging and she kept working, and these young ladies keep working. So if you're looking for something to do tomorrow at 1 o'clock,
Starting point is 00:09:55 and tickets are available, and they're affordable, Get your toe down to Pinnacle Bank Arena and root on those undefeated Huskers. Get down there and show up and sure out. Look, they've earned your attendance and your attention. Nine and O. Nine and O. Chance to be 10 and O playing at home.
Starting point is 00:10:25 Folks have been looking for something positive to wrap their brains around and send their energy towards. Well, there's an undefeated basketball team in town. They're fun to watch. fun to watch. They really are. And if you haven't seen them, get to it. And then tomorrow night, it's a biggin.
Starting point is 00:10:49 9 o'clock. Austin, Texas, Huskers, Texas. And Texas had a scare. They had a scare. Man, they were in trouble yesterday. They were in Washington, had them on the ropes, man. It looked tough. It looked tough.
Starting point is 00:11:11 They were down two sets of none, and it looked like, oh, my goodness, gracious, we got a story. Two sets of none, man. And then, you know what? Being at home has its perks. That's why you battle to get out front. So you can play at home and you can rely on the crowd. And they manage to go through.
Starting point is 00:11:31 Now, I would ask this, does it give Nebraska an advantage to have a team that got taken to the ropes a little bit? Nebraska had a clean sweep. They were never under duress. Well, they were. They were down big in the second tent, and then they figured out how they got on a 9-2 run and finish. But Texas was down two sets at home.
Starting point is 00:11:54 They had to dig deep and find a way. But will that have an effect? They're going to lay on them a little bit. Having to dig deep, it's a big one. And Nebraska is familiar. They know what they're walking into. They know who they're dealing with. They got recent history with them.
Starting point is 00:12:16 There is some tradition to it. So let's hope, Lady Huskers, have a great day tomorrow. The ladies shall lead us. Get the 1 o'clock win against Indiana State, and then we'll all buckle in and wait for the lady huskers to take down the horn. Horn's down, are we doing that tomorrow? Is that what we're doing? Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:12:38 Is it true that game starts at 9 p.m.? 9 o'clock? It's past my bedtime. 9 o'clock. No, it's not. It is that. It really isn't. It really isn't.
Starting point is 00:12:47 Your social media says otherwise. Come on now. You are active unto me late at night. That's what I get heated. Yeah, you get worked on. I understand. I understand. I understand.
Starting point is 00:12:59 I understand. A couple of things. So, Cobbsteris is going to stop by. So we'll take care of that. From the text line, DP, it's starting to get slick out. Please let people know to drive careful. Yes, please. Whatever this is going to be, yes, please.
Starting point is 00:13:13 Take care of yourself and take care of others. Please do. From the text line, Scott says, Hey, D.P. Hey, Scott. My wife had a tough week with me traveling for work. She had a rough time taking care of our five children for toddlers. We recently took on two foster children, and she has an endless patience and love and works hard for our family as well.
Starting point is 00:13:33 Scott? Yeah, man. Come on down. Come on down. Come on down, Scott. Come see us. And we'll have something for the family. You guys can tee it up, and you can say thank you.
Starting point is 00:13:44 Probably you want to probably get some vanilla or chocolate ice cream, put it in a car, too. Taylor's bringing his dog Look man Told you we got time for the dogs man You bring your dog down here I'm taking a break on the show That's all there is to it And if it's a puppy we're going to break
Starting point is 00:13:59 Like if it's a puppy we're going to break I'll just tell you that right in advance If you have a puppy and you bring it by the station We will go to time out And you and me and the puppy I will be on the floor with that puppy Like that is just there's no other way for it That's what it is
Starting point is 00:14:14 So Scott stopped by Please do said he's stopping by, good deal. Cubs just go ahead and stop by. We'll be here until 6. So if you can do that tonight, get here by 6 o'clock. Come on through and we'll take care of. We'll throw the break now. We have time for more nominations. Again, go to the Ticketfm.com and hit the nominations tab, get that email sent and shipped so we can have that. It's Friday. We make smiles. And for an hour, I get to play Black Santa. We'll be right back.
