Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to One-on-One with D.P. Brought to you by Beatrice Bakery on 937 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com. Welcome back to one-on-one. Yeah, the ladies are figured out that we keep the studio cold. If you're doing three-hour shows, you do not want to be in a warm studio. No, I don't blame you, but I'm also the type of person that my house could be set at, like, 78, and I'm, like, chilling. It's great.
Starting point is 00:00:31 But I also wear, like, a crop top when it's five degrees. outside. I'm really going to have to talk to your mom. Like, you just let her know. Look, we got stuff to work out. You know what? It's stuff to work out. There are things I need to know.
Starting point is 00:00:45 It doesn't make sense. Like, I'll complain that it's cold in here. It probably feels fantastic. It's amazing in here right now. I also don't have socks on it. My toes are cold. Who dressed you today? Like, you understood.
Starting point is 00:00:55 It feels great outside. Did you forget you're not in Georgia? No. No. Well, you have like two more weeks. Because guess what? You don't have socks on the rest of the time. So you figure that out.
Starting point is 00:01:05 So excited for my. From the side of text line at Athens says, what's up, DP? What's up, Aiden? Fidel says, Nick also prefers tacos on Thanksgiving. So his family had a taco bar for Thanksgiving. Yeah, you can see people just talking. They're getting their first glimpse of some of the text line stuff.
Starting point is 00:01:28 D. Ron says, make more hamburgers. Mr. Unbelievable says he does it with his bunch. too, nothing wrong with that. Someone donate that man some bread. I'm with you with that. Big Slim says, Yo, D.P. What's up, big slam?
Starting point is 00:01:41 Tell Nick, it's a lot more acceptable to put burgers on regular bread. Problem solved. That's some ghetto stuff right there. That's what you know. Look, man, that's what you call a home burger when you got to be used to regular bread on it. Drumstick says, I agree with Nick. Don't let them hamburger buns go to waste. Don't knock you.
Starting point is 00:02:00 You haven't tried it. Yeah, I'm going to knock that. I got it. uh ben says uh didn't quite get the mic shut off um all the time all i heard was hamburger buns really yeah he hamburger hamburger buns for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches okay i i feel like i'm being shined in a negative light here a little bit here's the thing i don't buy hamburger buns for peanut butter and jelly i i don't just like i eat peanut butter and jelly on normal bread do you do the same thing with hot dog buns yeah if if there's
Starting point is 00:02:33 Leftover hot dog buns, I'll put P.B and J on hot dog buns. Don't do that? Because you know that's not true. You just keep walking into the pit, don't you? Like, you just see it and you're like, hey, that would be a really bad road for me to go down. You want me to lie? You want me to lie and just be like, no, I don't do it. So you put P.B.J. on hot dog buns. If I have leftover, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:53 When's the last time you did that? Oh. Don't even say you've done that. I don't think that's true. I'm thinking about a month and a half ago probably. And you made a peanut butter. Is it too late to request a new co-host? Are either one of you available from two to three every day?
Starting point is 00:03:11 Every day. Can we do that? Can we get that going? I don't feel comfortable working with a crazy person. Right, like you think now. Yeah, with a psychopath, what's going on here? Like the moment you see somebody put peanut butter and jelly on a hot dog bun, go to the basement. Check it out.
Starting point is 00:03:26 Their bodies down there. This one's weird. That's why you had to move out of his own place. Saltine crackers, peanut butter, and mustard. I think you just outed yourself as a murderer. That's a no. That's a hard no. Who does that?
Starting point is 00:03:44 Look, salting crackers and peanut butter. I think there's a line that I know some people not only do the peanut butter crackers, but they put a little dab of jelly in the cracker. And the first time I saw that, I just went, like, okay, so I'm going to try it. And it wasn't bad. The mustard. Why? Does anybody in here put peanut butter with my?
Starting point is 00:04:05 Mustard. No. I can't say that I do. I don't even eat mustard. Yeah, I'll say first off, mustard is disgusting. So. No, no, it's the only, it's, look. The only time I use.
Starting point is 00:04:14 Look, if you put ketchup on your hot dog, we got to talk. Like, you got to, you got to go to another. Hey, hey, look. If you put ketchup on with mustard, with mustard gets a pass with the best. So you don't go to baseball games, do you? No. Oh, Michaela. You're talking to two former baseball players.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Michaela. Their season is our season. She's got a point. Doesn't go to baseball. Doesn't go to basketball. She's busy. Well, because football is better photo ops. It's a better.
Starting point is 00:04:47 They look nice in their uniforms, too. See, you can tell all your business today, aren't you? You're just going to tell all your business. Isn't that what this is for? We're supposed to. Look, I mean, okay, you talk about people like the football players in their uniforms. A lot of female, a lot of girls say that, uh, Baseball pants are very flattering.
Starting point is 00:05:05 I wouldn't know. That is true, actually. That's true. Okay, I've been to a baseball game. But she didn't have a hot dog. But she didn't have a hot dog at the baseball game. I don't like hot dog. Kinsey, do you?
Starting point is 00:05:16 Look, I'm not attacking you. No, you're good. Rico, we're good. Rigo, you're done. I have heard that you don't want to know where the hot dogs come from. Well, you don't have to ask about the hot dog. You just eat it. No.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Look, it's better. Look, don't ask about your food. You never ask about your food. Do you know what Chitland? are. She does. She's from the Saturday. I would imagine she knows.
Starting point is 00:05:38 Yeah. It's there. So, Kenzie, do you ever look at your friend and just wonder? All the time, actually. Every day. Like, somebody's... I make some questionable choices, too, so... Me?
Starting point is 00:05:49 Not me. Yeah, yeah. Like, we were at Sonic last night talking and it was great, so... But... No, you guys are plotting to out yourselves on a weekly basis. You're going to tell things about yourself that you had no idea you going to tell. You know what, D.P., I'm an open book. Don't tell D.P.
Starting point is 00:06:10 Don't. No, no. We did therapy the first day. I had to get her, put her in line, you know, to get that thing straight. My line's not straight. No, it is not. So as you prepare for all this, right? Kenzie, you understand that you're going to have to be the adult in the room and rein her in on a weekly basis, right? She's only a few months older than me. In age. In age. You know she's the grown-up out of you, too. Yeah, come on.
Starting point is 00:06:43 She's giving you the grown-up look. See, that's the... She just gave you the grown-up, the big sister look like. I think the thing is, though, like, I know how to not make Michaela mad. Like, okay, if there is something that I need to be like, what are you doing? I can at least say it to her in a way that she'll be like, okay, maybe you're... right so she just knows how to not cross me i guess yeah there we go exactly you said the word cross like there's there's consequences to that could be i'm just kidding i would never do anything to
Starting point is 00:07:21 roby she's the one person that's literally the last thing you just say after you just joke about like everybody just went oh she's definitely she's definitely about consequences so okay that's fair That's fair. All right. So through all of the stuff that you go through on a day-to-day basis on this campus and otherwise, what do you want? Is there anything that you want for women's sports that you don't have? Is there anything that like football gads or basketball gads or that you guys don't get?
Starting point is 00:07:53 That you feel like, you know what, it would be pretty cool to have. Aside from a show trip. They get to chart or fly everywhere. I just think, like, recognition as well. Besides that, just recognition, because it's like, it's one of those things. They're, like, media and everything, like, they just, it's just great. And not that, like, our media is not, but, like, it's like, we're just, they're, like, up here and our, I don't know if I'm saying this right.
Starting point is 00:08:17 No, just like, I know what you're saying as far as, like, just the, I don't even know how to, the, like, promotions and stuff that they get and just, like. And I also think, too, like, obviously people. know more about football and basketball and volleyball and stuff like that. Which is why you need people to explain it. Right. Right. And I just think that if people, like, it's one of those things.
Starting point is 00:08:40 We've gotten this time and time again, they were like, gymnastics is so cool. And I'm like, oh, good. We have a meet. You want to come? And so it's like, I think if people, like, like she said earlier, you don't really even need to like know too much about it. It's just cool to watch. Do you guys get tickets for every meet?
Starting point is 00:08:57 Yes. Like for fan or what do you mean? Yeah, like for you as people who are going to perform that night. Yeah, we have like a, at least every athlete on the team. Like, it's like a number of passes that they can put people down on. Like, so for like family and friends. Right. And then what if they're, you use them for like little gymnasts who would want to come to you meet but haven't been, haven't been to one?
Starting point is 00:09:21 I don't know how that works. Like I don't know. Let's find that out. Yeah. Let's find out. Yeah. You know, find out a way that you guys can invite little people there to root. for you.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Yeah. Who are going to root for you louder than the big people who come to those meets. I mean, I think that's, so who's going to be the toughest opponent you guys face all year? Michigan. I'm going to tell you that. Well, they just won national championships. Like, they're always super hard to compete against in the Big Ten, but they literally just won everything. Like, what do they do so well?
Starting point is 00:09:54 What makes them tough? I think, considering. consistency and just like attention to details. Like, I mean, that's the biggest thing with college scoring is just clean routines. At some point, we're going to do a full video on scoring. Oh, yeah. And we're going to take, it'll be 15 minutes long, and we'll have you guys break it down. Maybe we'll do that Monday night.
Starting point is 00:10:20 But just to explain to folks how complex it is and some of the decisions y'all have to make, because goodness gracious, I thought it was simple. It is not. And, you know, there's that. So when it, tell me when you're going to have your coach on your show because that will be must listen to radio. When you think. I don't know. Whenever we could get her.
Starting point is 00:10:43 Yeah, honestly. I've mentioned to her a few times, but. I think this is going to be special. I mean, which coach? Well, who's, who's the funniest coach? Who's the funniest coach? Well, Robert's from, where's he from Romania? So he has an accent.
Starting point is 00:11:02 So sometimes he's kind of hard to understand. For me, at least, he was. Also, I don't know if he would really talk that much. Yeah. I think we could get Heather to come on with us, though. Yeah. I find it fantastic that you guys call her by her first name. I call her HB a lot.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Yeah, HB. I know. I didn't know if we were supposed to. Is that bad? Coach Brink. I just, like I said, Whenever that conversation happens, I need to be around because that's going to be fantastic. We've always called her.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Yeah. Their coaches that are cool with it. I mean, look, I was I was DP for a long time. So coaches, the coach part never came into it. The parents called me coach and the players call me DP. But I understand it, but it's not for everybody. I feel like that might just be like a gymnastics thing because every single coach I've had, I called them by their first name. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Like, well, Robert? Every single one. Yeah. throughout even like back in yeah club too like yeah throughout college i i still say the most fantastic thing you told me that you knew were you were going to you were going to come to Nebraska in eighth grade yeah well ninth grade but i came on a visit here in eighth grade that is crazy it's wild at some point you got figure out what you were doing in eighth grade to get them to commit in ninth like that i don't i don't i don't
Starting point is 00:12:27 know. I mean, it was just so much different back then, like, as far as recruiting and the whole process. Don't look at me. I was not being recruited at my eighth grade. No. I just know that, like, I remember back then I just felt so much pressure to commit early because if you didn't, then literally all the scholarships were gone because people were committing so soon. In ninth grade. Yes. No, literally. Yes. That's why I was having trouble, too, because I didn't commit. I took my, official and my unofficial senior year. So I didn't even commit here until my senior year. And at that point, like when I was talking to people, they were like, hey, you're not
Starting point is 00:13:08 going to go anywhere that has money, which I was like, I mean, at this point, that's completely fine. Like, I knew I was going to be a walk on when I got here. So at that point, like, I was just trying to find the best place that felt like home because I knew money wasn't available because everybody did everything. Because Kinsey had it already. Yeah. Thanks a lot.
Starting point is 00:13:27 Just kidding. Thanks for saving me some. You know, Ketzy was like, thanks. Appreciate you. All right. So let the folks know, one, how to find you on social media. And then give them a preview. What are you going to talk about Monday?
Starting point is 00:13:40 What's in store? I don't know. I think we were just going to. Well, are we doing it ourselves? Yeah. I'll be here. I'll be here. I'm not going to leave you hanging.
Starting point is 00:13:51 That's not what it is. I don't know. I think maybe just kind of, I know we introduced ourselves a little bit last time. but just kind of go down further that alley. That rabbit hole. Yeah. I don't know. Deeper into it.
Starting point is 00:14:05 I think we kind of have stories that we like to or wouldn't mind to share. Okay. All right. And then how do they find you on social media? On social media? Good question. I don't even know. I got it wrong the other day.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Yeah. Thanks, D. I got it wrong. I apologize that night. Let's see. Yeah. No, my Instagram, it's Michaela Curtis 99. Because that's when I was born
Starting point is 00:14:27 And I need a baby Yeah Grandma And my Twitter is I think it's Oh Michaela Curtis 16 Because that's when I made it Yeah okay
Starting point is 00:14:37 All right Nice My Instagram is At underscore Kinsey K-Y-N-S-E Right Have you had the conversation with mom About why did you spell it that way
Starting point is 00:14:49 Well her name is Kayeta Okay So she spells it K-Y-E-T-A and she just, I don't know, she wanted something unique and different. So she, yeah. She crushed it. Well done, Mom. Got it.
