Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to one-on-one with DP. Brought to you by Beatrice Bakery. On 93-7 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com. Welcome back. Can I correct Meyer from Southeast Community College for providing information? I've had several listeners ask about those things, and I was like, well, probably would be easier just to have somebody from the college come on and explain it to you. Because there are folks out there that are kind of in between and they're trying to figure out what they want to do next or how to elevate what they're
Starting point is 00:00:41 already doing. And within their work, they've got opportunities for everybody to kind of enhance what they do. Of course, Mark Anweiler, he found it at the culinary school. Mark's like, okay, I need in, bro. I need in. That's kind of how that works. That's kind of how that works.
Starting point is 00:00:59 So, yeah, Discovery days. Just should be a good thing all the way around. Go ahead and check it out. Go ahead and check it out. Folks get used. Are we at a point where we, as grown-ups, lose it if somebody disagrees with us? Is that? Is that who we are now?
Starting point is 00:01:27 Nick, what is that, Nick, that we can't, like, we can't disagree without, like, having the top of our heads pop off? Oh, no. Because everybody's got to get their final, final thought in. Final word. So everybody knows everything. Hey, D. Fee, don't drag me down to this hole. You know exactly what you're doing over there. I don't need to be accusing.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Well, no, I just think people, just reading Twitter reactions. I was just doing it during the last commercial break. And pretty hairy, right? Yeah, it's kind of dark. Right? It's just, yeah. And it's not even just with just solely Adrian Martinez. Just if we want to put Nebraska football into a single category, it's all bad.
Starting point is 00:02:23 Like, just that people really don't want to consider, ponder. Like, because everybody who tell you, well, I've done, I've done my research. And those are my favorite people in the world because first, you have to know, the definition of research. Yeah. Like you actually have to know, you actually have to know the definition of research.
Starting point is 00:02:46 And then you go, oh, I've done my research. No, you have it. You read something, but that's not, that's not, that's not what research is. Rico? Everybody has a lot of hate in their heart,
Starting point is 00:02:56 and it's very sad. It really is venomous, right? It's very sad. Like, I don't understand why people can't just be happy for somebody for moving. Like, I get it. I get it.
Starting point is 00:03:08 He came here and he didn't. I get it. He came here and he didn't do exactly what you wanted him to do. He wasn't the typical Nebraska quarterback. He didn't run through people and he didn't pass for 700 yards in the season because all they did was run the ball. Like, I don't know, man. Like, people need to like relax. Like, dude gave everything he had to this program.
Starting point is 00:03:32 His job. And it was still not good enough. I want to ask the people. Like the people who. And also he only has so much control. He doesn't call plays. Like he really, look, through all of it, I'll ask anybody out there who just thinks less of Adrian Martinez,
Starting point is 00:03:50 just tell me about you breaking your jaw and then playing an entire season of football behind it or even going to work every day for those several weeks with a broken jaw. How about busting up your shoulder and finishing an entire half of football? Right. With nobody knowing that he was. And the doctor's going, he probably should be playing. Yeah, you probably should not have done that.
Starting point is 00:04:14 You probably shouldn't be playing right now. No, no, no, no, I got you. I got you. I got you. You know, is there so much. How about the amount of times he changed his body to suit the offense and for what they wanted? Like he came in as a freshman, again, with a busted up shoulder, got through, got through spring ball, summer ball, fall ball, was the starter, did really well. And then the second season, they were like, all right, we're going to run you some more.
Starting point is 00:04:35 You need to bulk up. bulk up. Can we? Didn't work. Slimed down. Can we admit the fact that even through all of his injuries and all of his flaws, he was still the best quarterback on campus for four years. Wow.
Starting point is 00:04:49 That's because I didn't go to UNL. Well, you know, you know, yeah. That's literally everybody who's talking about Adrian Martinez. I'm like, were you, were you, did you excel at that? Did you, do you have full understanding of what it requires to play quarterback for Nebraska or in the Big Ten with a broken jaw, a high ankle sprain,
Starting point is 00:05:10 and surgically repaired shoulder several times. That expertise is really high level, right? You can be excited for the future of Nebraska football without Adrian Martinez, but I do not want to see people, you know, praising that he is gone. Well, because most of the people who are praising it really have no idea what it requires
Starting point is 00:05:34 for Adrian Martinez to play quarterback at Nebraska. Anyway. Yeah. Zero idea. Like, tell me what it takes. This is where you put your two fists under your chin. And you go, tell me what it takes to play. Please tell me what takes.
Starting point is 00:05:48 Well, you need to simplify the offense. You need to hit your receivers in stride every time. You can't make a mistake. You need to win every game. Oh, man. It's just, it's kind of. You also need to rush for a thousand yards as a quarterback. And be nice to my kid when I bring them up to you.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Yeah. No interceptions. No interceptions. No interceptions, no fumbles. You need to be perfect. Because every fan is. Yes. Every fan is.
Starting point is 00:06:14 I've never done anything wrong. Never made a mistake. I've never done anything. Ever. Ever. Look, C.J. Stroud would have won more games. Ever. Would he?
Starting point is 00:06:25 If you put, if you replace, if you replace Adrian Martinez and C.J. He's only going to win a high. He's only going to win. With the exact situation, C.J. Stroud wins at least five. No, no, no. Can we ask that question of if there was a different quarterback, would they have won more games? We have asked that question every single year.
Starting point is 00:06:44 Adrian's been here. He won the job every year. Yeah. That's all. All right. Just wanted to. We'll put a pin there. I have a feeling we'll revisit it somewhere around the 4 o'clock hour.
Starting point is 00:06:54 It's Thursday. Kevin Meyer will come and bring us joy. Perry Thompson will always bring love and positivity. J. 4th30. And then the truth with Kobe Webster, C.J. Wilson, right after that. Thank you.
