You're listening to one-on-one with D.P.
Brought to you by Beatrice Bakery.
On 93-7 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com.
Last one-on-one of the season.
Yes, I will carry it forward next week,
and it'll be a big part of 2022.
It will just be either 8 to 9 or 10 to 11,
depend on schedules.
I kind of want the ability to cross over with Rishon.
and badge it at the top of the hour.
So that may be it.
We may go old school at 8 o'clock.
And at the same type of interviews and the same sort of conversations.
A big part of that, we will also take Beatrice Bakery with us into that time slot.
Speaking of, we did have Beatrice Bakery submissions.
Pretty simple stuff.
This one, you can go to the Ticketfm.com.
Ticketfm.com and put in submit for folks who have had a, you know, had a good day, a bad day,
a good week, a bad week, pat on the back, kick in the pants, whatever is required.
We can do that.
And you just have to go to the Ticketfm.com.
When you go into that page, you'll see the Viatris Bakery submission button, fill out who
you're thinking of, how we can get and contact them, and why, and why.
Let us know why.
Because the why matters, and that's why we're doing this, so that we can add smiles
along the way. As a matter of fact, what we can do as well is at sometime in this next
hour, I do want to, for folks who can get to the station today to come down and if there's
somebody that, again, you know, had a good day, bad day or a different, you want to put
something in their hand and put a small in their face. If you can do so pretty quickly at the
station, we may have something for them. All compliments of Beatrice Bakery. And you can find out more
about Beatrice Bakery at Beatricebaker.com.
They've got Grandma's Fruitcake, of course.
They've got all sorts of dessert cakes and liqueur cakes and all those things, man.
Amazing.
And then, yeah, just shoot me a text.
You can put it on the text line or you can go via the website,
theticketfm.com, and submit that way.
And we will get to them.
The text line gets you an immediate response.
So you have two choices.
Pretty simple.
Again, there's the lineup, the new lineup.
I'll go through it.
Early break with Sip and Jake, that hasn't changed.
You know, the folks have shown that.
None of those guys want to make a change,
so they're there and they will do what they do.
Hussker Hall of Famer J. Foreman and myself,
We will follow them up from 8 to 11.
Pretty excited about that.
Then behind that, again, one of the new shows and new programs with Sean Jackson,
three-time national champion, Husker Captain, and Terrence Badgett,
All-Time Leader Games played for Husker Basketball,
those two in their collection of contacts, friends, associates, and other.
I'm just telling you that we got a preview of today.
and we're it's pretty amazing pretty amazing and then behind that of course happy hour with riko and
nick and then later an afternoon bach for an hour and he's kind of got an idea about what he wants
to do with that three o'clock hour and then four o'clock uh eric strickland we join him until six o'clock
and you get another hushk hall of famer in the lineup we add our mondays with nicole griff
six o'clock to eight p.m. Talking tens with the with the young ladies from uh
Husker Gymnastics and Michaela Curtis and Kenzie Robey behind them.
We've got a basketball show.
We'll finalize those details once they get off the floor and get back to Lincoln.
But I think you'll like that.
And then young ladies from the swimming and diving team,
they'll come on get us through Monday night.
Tuesday night, we've got a couple of things that we've got in play.
And among them up the middle with Cam Chick and Bryce Matthews from the Husker
baseball team.
Behind that, you'll have outside the box.
box with Rocky Russo from the Lincoln Stars and they can talk about what's going on with them.
Behind that, we'll have additional shows.
We're just putting the pieces together because there's more pieces of the puzzles to be at it.
Wednesday night, again, you add Aaron Davis and Chris Raff and what they want to bring to it.
Again, they'll tell us what we'll have the name for you and we'll start promoting it tonight,
but we have a pretty good idea what those former Huskers bring to the table.
lots of conversations, lots of contacts, and a lot of opinions, informed opinions,
and they'll be able to go back in time and tell you why things were great
and what needs to happen for things to be great going forward.
Pretty exceptional.
Thursdays with What's the Buzz from Husker Basketball, Buzzie Carruthers,
and then Kobe Webster and C.J. Wilcher from the Huskers basketball
to tell you and break down what's going on with them as they head into Big Ten season.
And it's different because to have people who have played those games,
been in those situations,
who can kind of give some insight to what it's like.
What is that life like?
What are those games like?
We can go back in history.
We can go into the current game and talk about what it's actually like to go through.
So we appreciate it that you guys were patient enough to allow us to put the line up together.
Again, nobody wanted to have to make this choice.
but I think we lined up pretty well behind that.
From the starter hymn text line,
let's get into those questions.
Chris, I'll repeat this.
So Chris has asked the question,
why did you get rid of those three?
We didn't.
Pay attention, we didn't.
You can no longer ask that question.
That means you just simply refuse to hear us.
Tyler, thank you.
He likes that old thing.
Walter, appreciate you checking in.
The Milkman says,
Badger and has been Golden Knight,
fact he has. Amazing. All y'all's daddy says, let me know if we can help with the mentoring stuff.
Yeah, that's the whole teammates thing on what appears, I want to say it's going to be Tuesday night.
Wednesday night, I'm sorry. And yeah, I mean, with Tom Osborne, Des Moines Adams, to be able to talk about mentoring and the value in it, what the connections are, how much of your time would be required for you to add in some of the success stories.
And then some of the issues. But we can make the community.
better by tying together and helping people who basically need somebody to talk to, somebody to listen
to, somebody to see them and hear them, we'll use the station as a vehicle to build that up.
And that's, again, that's kind of the mantra.
We want to be a meeting place to do good things and say good things and talk about good people.
That's kind of what we want from the text line.
What's up, Brian?
What's up, Brian?
He says, I think the old school shirt would look like a where's walled?
book instead, where's Jay?
Yeah.
That time difference will be helpful in having more Jay,
but he'll have some practice stuff and we'll make do.
But again, this is why we're building a roster deep with Husker,
current and former players,
because when those folks have other things that they need to address
or places they need to be, we have more Husker, current and past,
to step in and communicate, have conversations.
conversations. That's kind of what we're doing. That's that's kind of what we're doing.
From the text line, pretty excited about the new lineup. What's the guess on how long it takes
Jay to hang Rico from a coat hook? I think Jay may hang him early on the hook. Like he may
just lift him up and let him know what it feels like so that Rico never wants to go back
there. But I think Rico will not accept it. RICO will be RICO until
until Jay lifts him up.
Like Jay's going to have to show him.
What up, Taylor?
I said, I hope I had a fabulous vacation.
I spent the latter half of that vacation
planning and trying to get a roster together
for your listening pleasure Monday.
Like it took work.
God bless Mark on while for putting in the work,
looking at resumes and everything else.
And we took a ton of resumes
and even people that didn't make next Monday's lineup
will be a part of what we do going forward.
There's some folks that we want to include in what we do.
Like, I'd rather have a greater roster than a lesser roster.
So that's the plan,
is to be able to have a different range of folks
who come to you and have these conversations
about the things you care about.
That's what we want to do.
That's the whole point behind all this.
And it was pretty exceptional to see folks,
you know, come up, step up, and make themselves available.
What up, Cleveland, Mike?
I heard you guys talking about the fruitcake so much that I went and bought some.
It is amazing.
I kid you not.
It really is remarkable.
I gave some to a friend in New York, and she, you know, she backed backfliped and said,
this is amazing.
So immediately went to the website and ordered some.
It's just different than any fruit cake I've ever had.
So I can endorse them with a clean heart, because that's good stuff.
What's up, Scott?
I'm excited about the new lineup.
Thank you.
Yeah, Scott, we're just trying to, you know, look, nobody,
nobody wanted to get rid of anybody.
That wasn't how it worked.
That wasn't how it went down.
Again, you know, for folks that have another opportunity
or a different direction that they want to go in,
what kind of friend would I be if I wasn't supportive of that?
Like, I'm rooting for them, dudes.
Like, go and be great at what you want to be great at.
That's what that is.
So yeah, Joseph is still doing high school game play by play from time to time?
Absolutely. Absolutely.
Friday night football games, you know, some Thursday night football games, absolutely.
Basketball, absolutely.
You know, go down and call these, you know, some of the, the Lincoln area basketball games.
Yeah, just as we did last year, and we'll take you through the playoffs, just like we did last year.
I think you'll be hearing a little bit more Nick in that.
You'll hear a little bit more of me in that.
there'll be some other folks that we can kind of include in.
Imagine some high school play-by-play
where you've got analysts that played for the Huskers.
Not that be a bad way to break down basketball or football.
So that stuff is there.
Yeah, we're doing high school football.
I think it starts next week, next Friday, I believe.
The milkman says Badgett has been great at night.
I hope he has a lot more stores.
He really does.
Badgett was watching him get his footing and getting his legs on his broadcast leggings under him.
Legs under him has been pretty exciting.
And he has great contacts.
I mean, on his Wednesday night hour, he had Danny Knee and Tony Farmer.
Like, he went up and down.
But he and Vashan together.
Vashan is, look, he's built for this.
some of you have heard Rashaan do radio
so he knows his stuff
super creative, super smart
they both are, they both know the histories
they know where all the bodies are buried
they also know where all the successes live
that is going to be an exceptional piece of radio
and again just imagine the people
that they're going to bring along with them
the connections that are going to
be a part of this thing
and they did again they did a little simulation there in the office and Mark and I just looked at each other like yep
like yeah it was it was it was it was that nide where you just go okay we've got something here
we have got something here look up and down the lineup or former husker players and coaches up and down
the lineup, current Huskers and coaches, up and down the lineup, people who care about
Husker Athletics and Nebraska and specifically Lincoln.
And I want to take it into the streets.
I really want to make sure that folks understand we can be at events.
We're going to be out in public.
We're going to be around this stuff.
Imagine having guys who played in the system being at press conferences,
guys who were in the football program being a part of the press conferences.
Imagine being able to ask those questions.
And then here have conversations about games that we can only imagine what it was like.
It was just, my goodness gracious, for what we were trying to do.
To get people who understand what it is to be a Husker.
You understand what's required to be a Nebraska Husker student athlete,
to understand what it takes to coach in this space.
They understand recruiting.
They understand transfer portal.
They understand what it takes to get there.
And they also understand the games that are being played.
Like, it's simple.
Back to the text line.
No more Happer.
Yeah.
No more happy.
No more happy.
In that time slot, it would be old school.
Me and Jay Foreman and Rico.
And then behind that, it will be Sean Jackson and Terrence Badgett.
Behind that, Happy Hour, behind that, it will be Bach and Eric Strickland.
And on various weeknights.
And again, some of you have caught on to how amazing the ticket weeknights are.
If you're not listening at night, you are missing out.
Like, you're missing out to Danny Knee.
You're missing out to Spubb Webb.
You're missing out Alec Berks.
We're missing out to Tony Farmer.
You're missing out on all the former Huskers.
And a lot of that will be brought forward into the regular weekday shows.
Chris Raff and Aaron Davis, you know, at night, Wednesday night.
Being able to have those conversations and stories.
We're going to give you a full day.
A full day.
Darren says, what's up?
What's up, Darren?
You're a very good person.
The station is great.
Looking forward to what's coming.
Good luck today in the future.
Yeah, it took.
It took, look, there's no joke, it took some real work to put together that lineup as quickly as we did and at such a high level.
Like, we're satisfied with the lineup.
And we'll keep building from the, from the weeknights.
We're going to keep building.
Hey, DP, it's Pilk.
What's up, Pilk?
I listen to ticket all the time when I'm traveling, not sure what I do with that.
Thanks for putting together a good schedule.
That's just it.
We want you to be able to come in and have a place that you can check in.
maybe get the latest news, maybe, you know, hear some of your favorite stories
and flashback to some of your favorite games and hear from some of your favorite Huskers
and talk about those moments of friction and those moments of success where lessons were learned
and all those things and be able to go back.
And I'm telling you, you're going to hear Schaefer and Tom on this station sooner than you think.
Just not as often.
That's all.
What's up, Jeremy?
Thank you, Mark and yourself keeping the ship afloat.
If we need a Dallas Cowboys-Centric Radio,
I know a certain Belved-Play guy available.
Jeremy, those words would never be smoking on this hair.
I love you, but no.
We have it because a lot of dudes are Cowboys fans.
They're guys here who root for Cowboys.
I just ask them not to do it so loudly as they want to.
We are going to have a wrestling hour at some point.
Like, it's going to happen.
What am I supposed to do with my current of points?
Fair.
What I would suggest to you and offer to you,
wait a minute, I've got to find out how many points you have.
Like how many curative points do you have?
You have a couple, right?
How many do you have?
We've got some stuff here.
I think we could work out something for you.
Like I think we could work that.
Sean and Ohio says
Crossovers with Sip and Jay Foreman sign me up
Yep
Yep
Yep
And each of these shows will cross over
This is what I'm telling you
Me and Jay Foreman with Jake and Sip
I don't know if Lincoln is ready for that
And then with me and Jay and
and Vashon and Terrence
Terrence and Vichon with Rico and Nick?
Man, come on.
Come on.
From the text line, one final one before we go to break.
Nebraska Nolan says, what's up, D.P.?
What's up, Nebraska, Nolan?
Gonna miss J. Stories in the afternoon.
Thank God for the podcast.
Yeah, everything will be podcast.
You'll have access to it, and you'll be able to hear everything.
We've got a couple other texts that we need to get to.
We'll close out.
one-on-one for the final time in 2021 and look forward to 2022. We'll do that when we come back.
Watch live on Facebook, YouTube, or Twitch. You're listening to One-on-One with DP on 93-7,
The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com.
