Nebraska, a volleyball town.
I was like, yeah, go ahead and say it.
Go ahead and say it.
This is a women's volleyball town, and nobody could deny it.
Florida State, Kansas State, Campbell, all in the building hosted by women's volleyball
and the Huskers have an opportunity to show out over the next couple of days.
So let's do that.
Again, 4-2, 4-6-6.
4, 5685, great to have you.
You could call in the Honda Lincoln Hotline.
You can text me at that number on the Sartner-Hamond text line.
You can follow the video.
The video stream brought to you by Sartner-Haman.
You can find it on Facebook, YouTube Twitch.
A couple of things on the week, because it's been a really good, a busy week and a full week.
What I'm going to ask you to do first and foremost is to make someone's day.
make someone's day.
Honor them, celebrate them, elevate them, embrace them, rejoice in them.
Jump on the ticketfm.com.
And on the tab, right there on the webpage, there is a nominations tab for Beatrice Bakery.
And we want to thank Beatrice Bakery.
Folks will allow us to add smiles to this community on a daily basis.
So when you think of doing someone, caring someone, doing something for someone and caring someone,
we'd like for you to think of us.
We'd like for you to think of Beatrice Baker.
We'd like for you to think of the people who help you get through the days.
And this is your chance to help them get through a day.
This is chance for you to celebrate a group of folks.
We'd like to help you do that if you're up for it.
So jump on the website.
We'll get the nominations via email.
Do those nominate somebody.
Somebody that's had a great week.
Somebody's had a tough week.
Somebody has had somebody that just deserves somebody to pat them on the back
or somebody that needs a hug.
Do so.
Theticketfm.com.
You can do that.
Now, I will also, with the sake of simplicity,
I will accept nominations via the text line as well.
So reach out.
Reach out.
On the text line, there's somebody there.
Like, you don't want to, you know, you don't feel like getting in onto the website and doing that.
You know what?
Here's a chance.
Another way for you to do that.
But on Fridays, we like to celebrate the end of the week.
We like to celebrate people who have done amazing things, people who do amazing things,
people who have gone through amazing things, and people who simply are amazing.
So have at it.
Do that.
And throughout the course of this hour, I will get to that.
Feel free.
What's up, Aidan, what's up?
What's up, Husker fan?
I do want to tell you that at 315 or so, Eric Strickland will join us.
He'll jump on the video stream, so if you guys want to see what Strick is up to, he'll be on the video stream.
He'll take your questions, and he'll give advice.
He watched this Husker team.
He's got close eyes to the Husker program when it comes to basketball and football.
Lots of news of Huskers football.
We'll get to it.
We've got a long day, so we got time to get to everything.
No rush.
In the words of John wouldn't be quick, but don't rush.
There's plenty.
Strick will join us for a little bit.
We'll talk a little bit about tomorrow with the Huskers basketball traveling.
They've got Indiana tomorrow morning, 11 o'clock.
The big one.
From their own mouths, if you were listening to the truth last night with C.J. Wilter and Kobe Webster.
They tell you, they were tired still last night.
Takes a lot out of a body, emotionally and otherwise.
Physically.
Look, that was a tough one.
But they did do a good job.
Nick, at some point today, I need you.
jump on last night's archive, last night's podcast for the truth, because CJ and Kobe talked
about the fight at NC State. It was pretty fun. It was pretty funny. It's pretty funny. It's pretty
fun. Like I said, we all chuckled quite a bit at Trey McGowan's ride into the rescue, Posse
up on his scooter.
But he said, yeah, there really wasn't much, you know,
there wasn't much to it.
They were just looking out for each other to make sure nobody didn't do anything stupid.
Talked about that man and talked about some of the coaches.
Still, as much as focus was on Tray McGowan's,
the real superhero move was Eduardo Andre.
because he looked like a seven-foot punt return.
And he was avoiding coaches like nobody's business.
He juked one of the coaches.
He juked one of the assistants and got to the pack.
Now, he got, you know, he got ejected because of it.
But, you know, it's pretty athletic.
That's pretty athletic.
I was like, okay.
I also did want to say that
that when you think about that game,
just remember,
they had to finish that game
without Trey McGowanes, without Latman,
without
Eduardo Andre.
There's a lot.
There's a lot.
What's up?
What's up, Cubsker?
He says, I just want to thank you guys
for buying my daily entertainment
while I deliver packages for FedEx.
You guys get me through every day.
Thank you for what you do,
and everyone at the ticket does.
Thank you, kind, sir.
Greatly appreciate it.
You know, you're a part of the fam.
And we haven't forgotten the VIP club.
January is coming.
Just be ready.
Be ready.
What's up, Big Frank?
Happy Friday to you, kind of sir.
Greatly appreciate it.
Yeah, it, there's so much to be said for how people go through difficult times.
This football program is going through difficult times.
Like, there's no other way to put this.
You can't sugarcoat that.
And I make a point to just, just,
stay away from speculation.
That sort of speculation,
I just,
like I know that people want to just,
you know, what if we got,
what if we got the second assistant coach
from Alabama? What if we got
the third
quarterback on the depth chart from Clemson?
No, but that's not purposeful.
It's actually wasteful.
You know, just like I said with the Mickey
Joseph thing, let it play out.
Let the dude get here and let him talk.
He'll answer a whole lot of questions.
he'll answer a whole lot of questions
let him
yeah I'm a little concerned
that this
this administration
this program hasn't released more information
but okay I'll live I'm a big boy
there was
a texter says so what Eduardo
Andre did was funny
see this is
why do people listen and then try to
pick apart what you just said
I laugh because it looks
rather silly watching coaches chase seven foot grown men.
If you've paid attention to me all,
that's not a part of the program.
That's not what they should be doing.
There's no focus in that.
It was the wrong thing to do.
It also, at the very same time, hilarious.
Look at the video.
Look at the video and tell me that it's not funny.
It's hilarious, watching grown-ups chase seven-foot dudes around the court
trying to keep them from something.
Not ideal, not the best reaction at all.
He'll say that.
They've already said that.
But was it funny to watch a seven-foot dude run around and try to avoid coaches?
Hilarious.
What's up, Big Slim?
He says, all sports aside, I appreciate you and what you've done for the station.
I feel personally, it's much better than when you showed up.
That's all showing appreciation for you on this fine Friday.
Kind, sir, and you and I will meet up soon.
We will meet up soon, sir, and thank you for the kind words.
Yeah.
Okay, so let me put the basketball thing aside for a second.
And I'll say this.
When I first got here, you folks didn't know me.
And in truth, I didn't know you.
I knew about Husker Athletics.
I knew about Husker Athletics.
I had a pretty good idea about athletically what was going on within the programs.
But I didn't know the fan base.
Not at that level.
I didn't know.
And I'll tell you, the intent when I got here was just to chill.
Like this was going to be like a kind of retirement for me.
We were just going to come here and I was going to become the old crotchy old guy who yelled stuff from the stands at various Husker sporting events.
Like I was going to yell for, you know, I was going to cheer.
I already had the truth was I had.
I had been rallying and supporting Nebraska athletics long before I moved here,
before I even thought about moving here.
Like I said, I found out that I, in my business dealings over the course of decades,
I've run into a whole lot of Nebraska dudes who told me stories about how great the place was.
Guys that I actually traveled with, guys, you know, teams that when I was on the road with these teams,
those players would give me stories and regale about Nebraska and Lincoln in specifics.
They talked about Omaha.
I knew about it.
Look, I spent nine years in Utah listening to Ron Boone,
tell me about Omaha and all the great athletes that came from here.
And he would introduce me to them.
And he pointed out, look, man, if you're in a room,
imagine being in a room, being a guy that's interested in sports,
and having Ron Boone, the legend,
the Iron Man of the NBA,
and Bob Gibson,
still to my thinking,
he's,
Bob Gibson is the best picture I've ever,
I've ever seen in my life.
And then Gail Sayers,
who,
man,
idolized.
And these were all Omaha dudes,
you know,
they're riding around on golf court,
golf cart,
you know,
and they're chopping it up
and they're talking about Nebraska.
Guys like Tony Farmer,
Geron Boone,
yeah, Kenya Hunter.
Those are folks who,
Mornay Pearson,
know.
These are all people.
people who I was, who I was connected to, and then they would just regale.
So when I got here, I was just going to chill.
Like the whole point, you know, this was going to be retirement.
I'm an old due now.
I, you know, look, I fully engaged that.
But when I got here and the ability to find out how much you guys care about your
sports and your athletics and your community, well, that hit all the, all the, all the, all the, all the, all the,
nice buttons for me. Right?
Mentally. It's like amazing. Right.
I'm like, okay, I want to be involved. So let me get involved.
And you find out that what you guys wanted
was more access. You wanted more shows. You wanted more sports. You wanted more access.
You wanted more talent. You want it more. All of those things. So as a sports fan,
I can relate to what you want.
And if I can do those things for you,
and most of them, quite frankly, are done
because of you guys, your support and your investment,
your time and emotional investment in 93-7 the ticket.
That's how it becomes possible.
Like, you guys, look, when you go and tell your friends
to listen to the ticket, when you tell your family to listen to ticket,
when you tell other alum to listen to the ticket,
look that's the that's the real work look you guys are making this thing move look I hear the buzz
and I am grateful I you guys are a blessing and your ability to go and and when we call the
arms and say okay you know what we need more followers on Twitter can you guys hook us up right
hey oh okay Husker Nation get to it can you guys get our numbers right we're at 5500 or so
I think we should be at 10.
Okay, Husker Nation, get to it.
Hey, I want to make some people smile in the area.
Get to it.
You guys do that.
When I say, we want to take care of folks, you guys rally.
When I say, look, we want to make sure people get fed.
You rally.
And because of you rallying, we get to add more content.
We get to add a baseball show like Cam Chick and Bryce Matthews.
Right?
we get to to bring you up close and personal to the gymnastics program to bring you up close and personal to the basketball program to make you feel connected to the volleyball program and the baseball programs and the football program and we'll go deeper into that we'll include the wrestling program we'll get into swimming diving golf all of those things but it requires your help your assistance for you
to send out the word to let folks know,
this is where people should come.
Look, I know there are other stations,
but we're a community station.
We don't have to ask a lot of people questions
about giving you the programming that you want.
We can tell you whether we can get it done or not.
We can tell you what we need to get it done.
And you guys have rallied for us,
with us, beside us, and it's greatly appreciated.
So what we're going to do, we'll throw it to a quick break.
And when we come back, we'll have Husker Hall of Famer Eric Strickland.
He's got a lot to break down, a lot of talk to the brother.
We'll do that next on one-on-one.
Stay tuned.
