Oh, and then one certified Piedmontese, ultimate steak rub, five ounces worth, plus summer sausage, 16 ounces worth.
All of this for $75, $100 value.
You want bigger?
We'll go bigger.
The butcher's bounty box.
Oh, yeah, let's get into it.
Four grass-fed 10-ounce New York strips.
Four grass-fed 10-ounce rib-eyes.
Four grass-fed filet mignon, six ounces.
Nice.
Four grass-fed finished ground beef, 16.
ounce. One certified Pied Montese ultimate steak rub, which is five ounces, and the summer
sausage, 16 ounces. All of this, just for $150. Great gifts, great thoughts, great food.
Stop by. Mercado, come on by and say what's up and hit us in. It's, you guys were a feisty day,
man. You guys are feisty. I'll hit you with the stuff. Dan says, what's up, DP? What's up,
Dan? Football season is over. When are you talking wrestling? It's coming.
It's happened. Actually, Black and I talked some wrestling earlier,
and then when it comes to Husker wrestling, Mark Manning for next week.
Mark Manning, and I put in my request because, you know,
I got some guys I want to talk to. I want to talk to Mikey Labriola, C.J. Red.
There's some guys I want to talk to, and that deserve to be heard by you.
Ray says, what's up, D.P.?
What's up, Ray? Where's the beef? Right here is the beef, man.
Brother, I may be a small portion of the listeners who got that reference.
We're getting old. We are definitely getting old when we yell, where's the beef,
and not everybody responds.
But that's okay.
That's okay.
I want to bounce back into some conversations
that we're having on the happy hour,
and it's funny as we go through this stuff.
Everybody has an opinion of what we do
and why we do it and how we should do it.
The truth is this.
There are different factions in the show
and different personalities in our lineup
from 6 a.m.
until, you know, 8 or 9 p.m. given the night.
And each of those shows provide content.
Within those content, there are those that focus on the X's and O's,
those that base it on opinion,
those that try to base it on fact,
and those who like to talk about sports from the heart,
with heart.
And each of those shows throughout the course of the day,
a different personality and a different focus on how they talk sports each day.
We have a handful of producers who guide those shows through their day.
They work.
They spend time before the show going through the topics that they want to talk about
from day to day and from time to time.
And they all have the ability and the logic that they're going to express in that
the hottest topics, things that people want to talk about at the moment,
things that weren't planned, things that pop up at the last minute.
So sometimes a breaking story will redirect the show.
Through all of this, we provide this text line so folks can communicate with us.
Add to the show.
Don't distract from the show.
Don't deterred.
Let's actually add to and have a conversation, which is why I jokingly say,
hit me with the what's up it just lets me know it's a basic simple courtesy that you're saying hey d p
you're doing like you're jumping into a conversation and not introducing yourself or at least not
injecting something positive in that so when i first see jake sorens in each day i say jake what's up
when i see ricko the first thing i say what's up the first thing i'll walk in the station i say what's up to
mark why that is a simple common courtesy and i don't know why asking for a courtesy is difficult for
some, but it is. And that's okay. I'll work with you and walk you through it. But on this text
line, you guys are asked to add to the show, add to the content. And add to it. Don't just,
you know, plaintiff, but add to the content. And the objective of each of these shows
lies purposefully and directionally to the hosts and the producers. They spend hours,
hours each night, each day, preparing for a show.
So they have some direction about what it is.
And what I want to do is make sure that they have permission to be authentic in what they present to you.
So if they're going to talk to you about a thing that they care about, that's them sharing a part of themselves with you.
Now, you could choose to not be a part of that.
And you could choose to disagree.
But the reality is sports radio should be a media.
eating place and you could talk a little trash talk a little smack that's part of what sports is
from that space but talk smack and talk trash as though we're friends we're family
community yelling from the rafters and just fingerpoint and really doesn't serve much purpose
but each day Jake and Sipple will make a point to share insight and intel that
that is rare specific to that group of men.
Their connections, the work that they put in the context that they have,
that's what that show is about.
Connor, Schaefer, guys who are passionate about what they believe in,
and they live life with a certain zest.
And they share that zest, and that's a blessing.
That's a huge blessing for them to share how they love what they love.
and then they ask you to share what you love
right
like imagine that having a place where the people know your name
and they ask what you care about
and they ask your opinion about what you care about
and then we follow that with Tom and Bach who
you know the unofficial
governor and mayors of this space right
that they speak for every man and speak to every man
they're accessible they're loyal they're faithful to it
they are quirky in their own even space.
But man, they love talking to you guys
and they love giving you a place to mention this.
Right?
They love giving you a place to come and have this conversation.
I love you to come in and have a place to talk.
And then there's a happy hour.
And it's our two young bucks who we want them to have a place where they can grow.
and they can share themselves
and they can get better at this craft
and this thing that they care about
and you guys have the opportunity every day
to ride with them to get to know them
to care about them and let them care about you
and then the hard heads come in
where I'm here trying to spread some love
and have some conversations
and J. Forin comes in his shares his knowledge
and his intel
J-Forman provides that rare
behind the scenes, access to the games, the things behind the game.
The stories behind the game.
And those things matter.
And then we've added to this thing, right?
That through all of this stuff that at night now we've got Nicole Griffin who comes in on Monday
and shares some of her energy and her energy is unique and rare and it's different.
and her and Connor have a great working relationship that allows them to have some unique conversations from different perspectives and different eras and from different vantage behind that we have two young ladies in gymnastics who actually did a pretty impressive thing the other night and I want to share that later in this show but they're sharing some insight to a thing a little bit of the light the life inside of the Nebraska athletic department
and within gymnastics and explaining the specifics
that you and I are never going to understand unless we've done what they do.
The same can be sad for Eric Strickland and his access
and him breaking it down for you.
And even, you know, for Strict to go back in history,
go back into Nebraska's history and tell you about the basketball program
what it was like growing up in Omaha and being a part,
being one of the better athletes that this state's ever produced.
Terence Badgett, same thing from Omaha, ran in the same circles,
traveled the world representing the University of Nebraska and the state of Nebraska.
All of those things.
And you go behind that and you add up the middle with guys like Bryce Matthews and Cam Chick.
And then again, if you're not paying attention, they're breaking down.
They're sharing themselves.
They're sharing stories that you don't have an opportunity to hear all the time.
but those young student athletes can share those stories.
And the whole point is for this to be a place where they can come and be loved on at a higher level than they would be if they were doing this anonymously.
And them loving on you by sharing some of some stories and details about the things that they go through.
Buzzie Carruthers is a voice professional and a basketball professional.
And he makes himself available to have conversations in a way that he's comfortable and authentic and doing.
and for him to give that to you on a weekly basis with insight to NBA
and some of his quirky top five lists which are exceptional by the way
and he sits and does it and they all walk through with big skies
as he grows into his his producer and talent position in this world
and he grows along the way
and Thursday nights where you've got the truth
where C.J. Wilcher and Kobe Webster shared them
themselves. And it's easy to share yourself as a student athlete when things are going well.
When everything's going on while, everybody loves you. But if you're a Husker and things aren't
going well and you still share yourself and you still make yourself accessible to people,
you're doing it in fairness to them and in spite of what would be natural or comfortable for them.
We bring you high school athletics, football, basketball. We should probably do more.
and I will effort to do more.
I will effort to cover more sports.
I will effort to carry more games.
We have the right people.
Mark Rondweiler busses hump every day.
Sunrise and sunset to make sure that the creative aspects
and the operational aspects of this company work.
And he does his thing.
Man, he does his thing.
I say all of that to say this.
We want to know you.
We want to know who you are.
we want you to know us. Simple, man. Simple.
That when we share stories and those we're given access and we bring players along who are
willing to come on and tell their stories, coaches who amongst the 24 hours of insanity
they face from day to day, come on and share themselves with you, the reporters, the beat
writers and the reporters who have access, who share whatever information they can without
stepping on toes and without creating problems.
Listen, I love what I do.
Everybody that works in this station, at this station,
loves what they do.
And all we're asking is that you let us love what we do.
You have impact.
If you're listening to this right now and it can hear this,
you have impact because you can say a thing that affects and drives the rest of the conversation.
You can distract, you can deter, or you can add.
to, right? You can add to. And given that power, us giving you that power, literally handing you
that power, says that here's how this thing would be, right? Come in with us and let's all make a better
day for each other. Like, I don't take the microphone to upset anybody. My preference is that every
day that we get to show up, from here into eternity, I get to report on a bunch of Nebraska wins
in life and on the field and on courts and otherwise.
But when that does not happen,
then my integrity should be,
should drive me to tell you the truth about what happened
and what didn't happen.
And nobody wants to come to work and say
that the things that we were all rooting for didn't happen.
Nobody wants to,
you don't want to tune in when it happens
and we don't want to go on air when it happens,
but we do.
We meet here anyway to get on the same page.
and to get in the same space and figure out, you know what,
we had a tough one last night, but we're still in it together.
We're still in together.
And you're so powerful that a young man who was going through his own chaos
thought of you enough to stop and say,
you know what, I need to put some peace on folks who care about us.
And they constantly do it.
Now I can tell you that Buzzy Crothers, we had the conversation earlier.
This is a team that's going through its struggles, and it's got some real issues that are fluid.
Like they don't know how many players they're going to have to get on a plane to go to Atlanta and face Auburn on Saturday.
But what he wanted to do was come on and talk to you guys.
One, because you're going to help him feel better.
They're going to help him feel better.
He doesn't feel less, like he will feel more stable in this space talking to you for two hours,
whether you're communicating with him or not, that he's here.
and going to do this for you.
And listen, if you haven't figured out that, listen,
there are a million places for you to go for drama and chaos and nonsense.
There are a million, look, there are stations for you to go in
where you could call names and rant and rave, and it's cool.
For me, the specifics are this.
Sports fans love what they love, absolutely.
And we're all rooting for the same thing.
We're all rooting for people that we care about to have success.
We're rooting for a community.
We're rooting for Lincoln to be successful.
Every business in Lincoln does better when the Huskers are winning.
Everybody's meals are better.
Everybody's relationships are better.
Their home life is better.
Going to work the next day is better because the Huskers are successful
and they represent everybody here.
This athletic program battles on a daily basis
even in battles that you're not even aware of
so that you not only themselves,
but you get a chance to feel good about who you are.
That's why you wear the colors.
That's why the red burns brighter.
That's what that's supposed to mean.
That's supposed to mean that the red burns brighter
because you care more.
So caring about this Huskers program is what we get up for.
It makes us sleep better at night.
It allows us to smile a little bigger, a little bit brighter.
We all do better at what we do.
And then we meet here and when it doesn't go well, we can sit here and say, man, listen to what we are talking about here.
How do we get right?
How do we get better?
How do we come together?
See, there are folks that'll tell you, look, we want to be united, but then they will work against it.
No, no, no.
What I'm saying to you is this.
Come in here, get in the space, settle up, have something that you care about in front of you next to you.
and let's just lean in.
Like, again, there are a million places for you to go.
You can go on Twitter and say whatever you want to say,
and there's no accountability.
But in this space, because we're consistent in it, right?
This is a unique club that this 937 ticket thing.
It's a unique club.
Like, we put in names so we can call you by name and identify you
so that when I see you at the ball game or I see you in the haymarket
or Mark sees you at an event or Rico sees you at a volleyball match
or whatever the case may be, you can come up and say,
hey, man, I know you and you know me,
and we're here together in the same space.
Let's go.
That's one of my favorite things about Lincoln.
This is why you choose Lincoln, Nebraska.
Look, some of you didn't choose this.
I chose this.
Right?
And one of the beautiful things is the way you love what you love.
You love your huskers, you love your sports.
That's why you show up on a day-to-day basis.
And you become familiar enough to know why we engage,
how are we engage in what we're trying to do.
accomplish. I wanted today to be a reminder. Simple reminder. Listen, this text line, and I'm
going to get to all of y'all. But I wanted to say, listen, the grown-ups should take care
to young folks, and the young folks should aspire to make the old folks proud. Because then they
can be proud of themselves. That's really all this is. Like, don't get caught up in the, I need to be
right, and don't get caught up in, well, I disagree with some facts.
that you stated or some stat that you stated or some opinion.
Listen, I got a whole bunch of brothers and sisters and we rarely, rarely agree on everything.
But we love all the time.
And I don't think it's asking too much for us to engage one another, especially when it comes
to sports and sports indifference, right?
That we're not disconnected.
Stay connected.
Like be human, be a grown up, be decent, be kind, be.
amazing.
While having the choice between being anything else, why not be good to one another?
And if you're hurt, say you're hurt so we can talk to you and let you know that you are
not going through that hurt by yourself.
That's the whole point behind Beatrice's Bakery and what we're doing.
We've got some other clients.
I want to thank the, Beatrice's Bakery, Canopy Market, those folks who all make a point
to work to make sure this community is better, that this community is taken care of,
that people have a reason to smile and a place to meet
where we can all get on the very same page
and at its simplest it's we all love sports
we love being around people
who find some joy in what's going on
and then ultimately
at some point
we get to all raise our glass
and celebrate when something good happens to Husker Nation
and we can yell go big right
that's what all of this is
and I don't want this to sound like a lecture.
I just wanted to be a talk.
Look, I'm just, unfortunately, I'm the only one with the microphone.
But I'm going to give you guys the microphone by reading these texts,
and this is what I'm going to do.
And I thank you guys for letting me vent and let me have my moment.
Scott and Stonebridge, what's up?
Love the message, man.
This is why I listen every day.
God bless you, Scott.
Appreciate you, man.
What's up, Eric?
I want to give a shout out to Coach Abdelamasham, and wish him well.
Hope to see him back on the sidelines.
Bravo, well said.
Well said. We are all rooting from Adam DeMase.
Send him that text the other day.
We're rooting for him. We're praying for.
What's up, Pork Chop?
Says, love listening to you. I can tell you one hell of a dude.
I see you on your walk every day. Yeah, man.
I see you in a walk morning outside my office downtown. Have a great there, sir.
Pork Chop, thank you, kind, sir.
You are appreciated.
Next time you see me on the walk, man.
Call me out. Give me a fist bump.
Let's enjoy the day together.
What's up, DP?
Want to say I listen all day, but I'm always driving.
driving during a happy hour, but Nikki Cups and Rico are my favorite.
It's my favorite show.
The young guys do a great job, but maybe that's because I only got to listen to them for an hour.
Hey, that's good stuff.
What's up, Dad?
You do a damn good job.
Thank you, sir, greatly appreciate it.
DP, all of these textures that are insisting on positivity don't want to live in reality.
But most of us do.
Positiveity certainly has a time and place, but it doesn't always comport with reality.
And right now, reality demands that we don't stick our heads in the sand and pretend like there's nothing wrong.
if you can text me and tell me in freedom and honesty how you feel then you're living a pretty good life
and you're having a pretty good day the reality is think about it this way the other night
Nebraska lost a basketball game the last several years Nebraska's lost a ton of football games
and basketball games statements of truth love them love them if those are your kids
You love them more after lost than you do after a win.
That's a statement of truth, right?
Do that.
Chance, what's up?
Also love hearing your voice most days.
Your opinion is different, but says what needs to be said.
It's context from a different place, and I appreciate that so much chance.
And that is a simple respect, and you are appreciated for that.
Adam says, just tuning in.
If someone was talking about RICO, Nick, let me know who.
I just want to talk to them.
We're going to love them anyway.
We're going to love them anyway.
what's up dr tom he said i'd love to hear some will bolton studio harvel we're getting him back soon
after the holidays let him enjoy some time with his family and do what he doing but we're going
get it in love that dude hey zach what's good my man love the show keep positive vibes and
amazing content that's all we're trying to do every day that's all we are trying to do every day
is to provide some decent content be a meeting place for the good
us and for us to work together to get better in everything that we do.
What's up, garbage, man.
What's happening with you?
What's up, D.P.
Say for you, it's always a lecture.
Well, there's some truth of that.
There's a truth of that.
What's up, Mississippi Muddog?
You beat, I beat the COVID.
You guys' station help me get through it for 10 days.
Thanks for the entertainment.
And thank you for always being considerate and sharing content.
you add to the show on a daily basis.
So thank you.
I'm glad you are victorious and that you can get towards being a healthier, greater you.
Good stuff around the way.
Good stuff.
Harold Spears, some of your texts came through.
I didn't get all of it.
Some of it came through.
Grandpa Rick, what's up?
I need to hear your answers, not just complaining.
We're simply in that.
We're working with that.
don't complain give an answer
give a resolution to it
what's up
Nate thanks for everything your wife for doing with the station
it is amazing the platform you give these student
athletes is awesome and unique to the city
thank you Nate thank you for
saying that and thank you for sharing
it like when these these shows come through
share
it
share it
uh Harold Spears says what's up a couple weeks back
I want to give away for cost cutters
and a free haircut
I would like to forward that to a listener that actually needs it.
That actually needs it.
Somebody out there wants to look sharp for the holidays coming up,
and I would like for that person to receive it.
Can we make this happen?
Harold, we will make this happen today.
We'll make it happen today.
Folks, via the text line, you can text in if there's somebody you know
that needs a haircut, that needs something that picked them and go,
you know, nobody feels better than right after a haircut.
So if there's somebody that you know that has a new job or going for a job interview
or want to compliment or harrow spheres.
Let's do that.
We will make that happen.
What's up, Pekampi?
Thanks for coming and staying in Lincoln.
We all appreciate everything you and your team do every day for our community.
Please keep doing what you're doing.
It is refreshing.
Peacampi, appreciate you.
Thank you for what you just said.
We are thrilled to be here.
We're in the right place.
It is the good life.
It is the good life.
So there's that. Taylor, what's up?
The only thing I want for our players is to fully buy in and give full effort,
not just trying to look busy or acting like you're giving an effort.
Yeah, but as an athlete, there are very few times where you actually don't want to do well,
that you don't want to be busy.
Right?
But yeah, they're human, and they're young.
So allow them to grow into that sort of maturity.
Faisal says
If we love the players more
after Lawson, I appreciate we have loved them all to death
and have no players left.
And in spite of that, and on top of that,
love them anyway.
Love them anyway.
How are you, young man?
Can I get a high five?
Can you give me a high five?
Thank you, brother.
Appreciate it.
Y'all have a great afternoon.
Yeah, through all of this stuff,
throughout the day.
Ben, what's up?
I'm so glad you landed in a link
can you make this community better and ultimately make our sports program throughout the entire
community better.
Ben,
I'm sending love and prayers to Hickman.
Thank you,
kind sir.
Cool,
right?
Thank you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
This is one I want to read.
Hey, DP,
honestly,
I don't love some of your takes.
I'm a new listener.
After today,
I appreciate your statements and opinion.
Truth hurts.
I don't necessarily need for truth to hurt.
I just want,
and thank you for listening and giving me a chance.
because that's all anybody wants.
Like, give me a chance.
Give me a chance.
Like, we'll provide.
We want you connected.
We want you to feel like you're a part of this
and that you can contribute.
But that's just it.
We want you to contribute.
We'll throw it to break.
