Back to one-on-one with DP.
Presented by Beatrice Makeray on 93-7 the ticket and the ticket FM.com.
That's for the Husters basketball team tonight.
Nothing can stop you now.
Get it done.
Get it done.
Sam Houston State, the Bearcats.
Bearcats with a K, not with a C.
Bearcats.
It's Texas.
What do you want?
What do you want?
Familiar with a lot of the folks.
on that roster and on that bench.
So what you're going to get is grown man basketball tonight.
Physicality matters.
This is not a scheme game.
This is an execution game.
Like they run enough of the same stuff that, quite frankly,
one team executing at a higher level than the other will dictate the outcome.
Again, a team that put up 27 offensive rebounds the other night,
27 offensive rebounds.
Yeah.
And they run, they shoot a lot.
They like to, I mean, they like to get the boards.
It's kind of hockey's dump and chase.
Take your shots.
Make it a good one.
Follow it.
You see it better than anybody else.
Get to the space.
Physicality on defense, body up there long enough that they can be a problem in the wings.
They do have size on the bench if they need to go to it.
A big man from Utah State, seven-footer.
He's there if they need.
But their 6-7 forward had 16 rebounds the other night.
16 rebounds from a 6-6 big man.
That would be wonderful.
That would be amazing.
It would be that kind of night down at PBA.
Kudos.
Shoutouts to the Lady Huskers from last night.
Man, what a show.
108 points.
was 108 points, Connor?
Yeah, I mean, it was 108 points last night?
108 points last night for the ladies.
102, so they were six short of what they had done in them.
Shame on them.
Jeez, let's go back into the left.
Let's get this right.
Come on.
That's impressive.
Depth, great energy.
Everybody on the floor can rebound, and guys, let me tell you,
for the young ladies that came off the bench,
they put up work.
I thought Tim Hyby would have a triple double.
And then it looked like Jazz Shelley might have a triple double.
And then it looked like the young lady off the bench might have a triple double.
So, yeah, they were just putting up numbers and rebounds.
Man, they were good on the boards.
Shot the ball exceptionally well.
And based on the attendant, some folks don't know that this is an entertaining basketball team to watch.
They play again home on Sunday at 2 o'clock.
Get your tickets.
Get down there and watch them ball out because this is a fun.
group to watch. It is a fun group to watch. You know the deal. Hit me with a What's Up DP. We'll get you through
a Friday. I can tell you, you'll have Jay's picks at four on old school, so you can focus on that.
We'll have Ramel Lloyd Jr. son of Rock Lloyd. We'll have him right at five o'clock. Nick's going to perform
today. Nick karaoke on a Friday. It's how we get through. Mr. Predicto will come in and answer questions
if you so have them. But there's plenty of space.
in the
and the stratosphere for what's going on.
It's going to be a big weekend of football,
even in the Big Ten.
I mean, the Big Ten is going to roll through.
Michigan and Penn State, of course, is the marquee game.
I still don't know what to make a Penn State,
and that's been my...
I don't know if I respect them,
but I don't admire them.
Is that fair?
like they're okay to watch but I'm not
particularly moved by watching them.
The same could be said for Michigan.
I thought Michigan snuck out of Lincoln
with a win that they didn't earn.
And so their season
is still up for grabs.
Both teams need to win here to remain
among the tops of the Big Ten,
at least in theory,
the main in the tops of the Big Ten.
Now Northwestern travels to Wisconsin,
Rutgers,
travels to Indiana, and for $6, $6, you can see a Big Ten football game.
Rikers in Indiana, $6.
And there's a lot of $6 tickets left.
Purdue travels to Ohio State, which could be a better game than we would expect.
I expect Purdue to press early and then have Ohio State get their finish on.
There's that.
Minnesota travels to Iowa.
guys know where I stand on that and who I'm rooting for.
That's pretty simple.
And then the Maryland Terps travel to East Lansing to face Michigan State who have to
bounce back and will they bounce back?
Pretty interesting.
We'll get Jay's picks on those.
A couple of the national games of interest for me, the fact that Georgia could have a
letdown week and then travel to Tennessee.
It would be interesting.
Most folks have their eyes to Oklahoma and Baylor.
It's odd, but I really want Baylor.
upset in Oklahoma.
Like I want this thing scrambled up.
Notre Dame travels to Charlottesville to face the Wahoos, the Cavaliers.
And a part of me wants that knockdown.
Notre Dame rolls in at a nine and take a loss at UVA.
It'll get them out of the bowl conversation.
NC State and Wake Forest is probably the best game of those two.
For $4, you can see, for $4, you can go to Austin, Texas,
and get a ticket to see Kansas and the Longhorns.
$4.
For $5, you can go to Washington and watch Arizona State in Washington.
For $8, you can go and see Alabama for $8 against New Mexico State.
And if you want to go to the University of Arizona,
you can see the Utah and the number 24 Utah Utes against Arizona for $5.
Five.
Five bucks.
What is going on in America?
Who, we.
Jeremy, I see, bro.
Yeah, it's, I see you doing your thing.
What's up, D.P.
from the Sartreami, Texas.
Vikings fan here.
Think Zimmer makes it through the year.
This weekend tells you a lot.
We asked that question, though, what would they do with the position?
Who would they want to get?
Who's the target?
And who out there would excite Vikings fans?
Like Vikings fans have played close to the vest, close to the vest, close to the vest.
Well, that's a Zimmer thing.
And there's enough offensive talent in Minnesota that they can kind of stretch this thing.
Even with Dalvin Cook, you can still spread the field out and make it easier for him.
And then they have a similar situation.
They have to figure out whether Kirk Cousins is their quarterback going forward or not.
They are like Nebraska and that their fan base is firmly split.
in half over whether Kirk Cousins is the guy or if he's the Antichrist.
I'll take your word on how you feel about it.
Let me know whether you think Kirk Cousins is the guy or not.
And then tell me who you want to see.
Tell me who you want to see in Minnesota.
Let's see what happens here on the text sign,
Hey, DP, you going out tomorrow and shooting a deer.
I am never going out and shooting a deer or anything else for that matter.
just not a part of my makeup.
I had a police officer, dad, guns in the house.
I am cool with staying far away from that as possible.
Just me.
Plus, I mean, dear cute, like they're all cute.
What's up, D.P.
Your thoughts on reports to NCAA staffers have been threatened
in the aftermath of the rejection of Oklahoma State Appeal
on recruiting violations.
And that Mike Holder gave out the NCAA names publicly.
The NCAA is in transition.
Its power is under transition.
Its authority is under transition.
What its responsibilities are and what its legal boundaries are.
They will find out more as this particular process goes forward.
To think that Oklahoma State, who's familiar with being in that space where the NCAA has eyes
which program and what they do.
The NCAA is not making any move without sound fact and evidence.
So what will happen here is that both Oklahoma State and NCAA will have to have full disclosure
about what moved them to be in this situation in the first place and then the people involved.
Ultimately, the harder it's fought, the more information you're going to get.
and I'm okay with getting more information on it because the NCAA is really trying to find
it's got wobbly legs and it's trying to find it exactly how much jack it has
uh Brian T says what's up DP what's up Brian T I enjoy the weekend and still you
some some time some downtime eventually I will listen to that myself yeah we both are
overdoers and I was just pondering I need to I want to go to the basketball games tomorrow
and Sunday, but
there's
voices that tell me, just put your feet
up for a bit and get
caught up and recharge and re-boost.
I'm not very good at it,
but
I'll try.
I'll try to be better at.
Yeah, what's up, D.P.?
I want to hear your thoughts on the Lakers
and where you think they would be at the end of the season.
End of the season, meaning playoffs
or end of the season, regular season?
Like, where do I think they'll be?
Those projections are, for the season,
are less important than the postseason resolution and resolve.
This team was not put together for the regular season.
This team was put together for a late run in the playoffs.
It's built to give LeBron some breaks,
some time off during a regular season from,
handling the ball, time off from defending certain players in space, right,
to be able to resolve and resolve.
I think all of that stuff is there.
The Lakers team is more built for the playoffs than it is for regular season.
And I don't think there's anybody in the NBA West that would be thrilled with having
to face that Lakers team in any round of the playoffs.
They're too talented, they're too big, they're too knowledgeable.
Yes, they're older, but those things.
things come with other benefits.
And in the playoff series, remember, you have time in between.
And I would also say, you know, if you're going to get them,
get the Lakers in the early playoff sessions where there are fewer games
for them to come back and win.
You know, I mean, it would be wonderful.
Husker Spanky says, hey, DP.
What's up, Husker Spanky?
or sparky, my bad, sparky.
Do the Huskers break 80 points tonight?
I feel like that's a point total
maybe hitting against a few of these lower quality opponents.
Your thoughts.
First of all, this is not a lower quality opponent.
It's not Big Ten, but Sam Houston State,
I mean, this is an 18 plus win program on a streak,
like this has gone on.
This is a team that I've seen up close in my time in Houston
because it was right down the road from me,
literally right down the road.
So we followed them pretty closely and got to know some of the players and the coaches as well.
This is a talented team.
I mean, think about that they've got a transfer to the lead and scored.
They had two players scored 20 points the other night.
One of them is a transfer in from Texas A&M.
He's already been under the big lights after two years.
He's not going to be impressed or awed by Pinnacleback Arena or Husker fans or other.
They've got a big who played at Utah State who played in the tournament and been up and down the road
He's faced NBA bigs along the way, so he's not going to be moved by it.
Coaching staff is not going to be moved by it because they're used to taking this team down to Austin
and facing the Longhorns or facing the Houston Cougars when they were top 10.
So there's no fear.
This is not a less than lower quality opponent.
But I think this is one of those ones where, you know, as this team grows and matures,
this would be a really good opportunity for them to get it together.
and get on a run here.
80 plus points are,
that's a really good number.
Actually, I would like them above 85.
I would like them above 85.
If they're above 85, they can defend well enough to get this done.
But you know where to look for numbers,
shooting percentages, and rebounds.
We know that that's how that's going to play out,
especially tonight.
I'll get to the other questions here shortly.
I do want to.
Give a shout out.
We gave away some goodies today through a Beatrice's bakery.
I'll tell you about who we gave them to when we come back.
