Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to One-on-One with D.P. Brought to you by Beatrice Bakery. On 93-7 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com. True story. If you ever having a party and you want to get me dancing, throw in some new addition. Throw in some new addition. The party starts.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Party starts. So you guys know the deal. 402-464-5-6-85. I want to make some smiles happen on a Friday. been a long week for some folks. And the folks from Beatrice Bakery have been kind enough to allow me to put smiles on faces. I want to say this. Jason, what's up, Jason?
Starting point is 00:00:54 Yes, kind, sir. Nick will reach out to you. Harold's fears. Guess what, bro. Reach out to Nick. Nick, reach out to them. Give me some information. And then, yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:09 And Harold, we're rude for you, bro. I know that's got to be tough. So we're rude for you. This is from the Sardhammy text line. The ICU a Ariens at St. Elizabeth have had a tough couple of weeks. A year ago, they were heroes, and now we are the enemy. Let me correct that statement. You are not the enemy.
Starting point is 00:01:34 You are not the enemy. You're doing your job. You're doing your job. So Nick will reach out to you and we will see if we can add a smile to the faces of some of those folks there doing the hard, difficult thing that you do on a day-to-day basis for everyone other than yourself. and it is not unseen, it is not unheard. It is not unappreciated. Those are statements of truth. We appreciate you.
Starting point is 00:02:19 So if you have somebody that you can think of that's had a tough day or a tough week or has got a big weekend or somebody that, you know what, somebody had a great day or a great week or they accomplished something spectacular. Me personally, I am going to, and I've already taken care of it, but I wanted to put smiles on the face of the Nebraska women's gymnastics team. And we had visitors today.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Kinsey Robey and Michaela Curtis stopped by the station, and I sent them off with some smiles because they're Huskers too. their elite huskers. And I wanted to say thank you. Because those young ladies work hard. No, they don't get to do what they do in front of 90,000 people or 85,000 people. But those young ladies sacrifice and those young ladies work hard to represent the University of Nebraska and Lincoln and the state of Nebraska and the sport that they love so much. and so we went down that road and we sent them out of here with a few smiles and it felt pretty good about it Once again, I need to thank the folks from Moose's Mad Fresh and Mary Ellen's food for the soul.
Starting point is 00:03:54 I want to thank you folks as well for doing what you do. Wonderful. Wonderful. Ben says, I see you nurses are not the enemy, a very vocal minority. of them don't believe in the incredible achievements of the medical field in which they work. I'll say this. I've got a ton of nurses in my family, in the immediate circle, and I pray every day for them because all other things aside, those are servants. Those are laborers of love.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Those people take care of people that do not know them and they do not know. and to me, if you're willing to work in service for other people and to try to make people's lives better by alleviating pain or relieving stress by telling them, giving them information that they need, or for simply doing a thing and holding a hand while somebody gets medicine or gets advice, that's the best of us. You don't always see their superhero capes, but they got them. they really do again you have until the rest of this hour if there's somebody that pops in mind that you want to celebrate now that you want to do something for even if it's a pat on the back and add a boy and at a girl whatever you want to say whatever you want to do who you want to do it for reach out i'll do what i can today once again thanks to the folks from beatrice bakery lots in the news and we'll we'll get into the huskers and and and
Starting point is 00:05:40 Buckeyes and you know me. It's a deep dive into the space of what's coming. And I waver, to be honest, to be totally honest with you, folks. I waver from day to day from hour to hour on how I think this thing plays out. I'll look at something on film and go, man, that's something Nebraska can really attack. There's a place that they'll be able to have some success. And it's pieces to a puzzle. Ohio State's linebackers have struggled in past coverage against tight ends.
Starting point is 00:06:20 What? What? It's almost like it was tailor-made for Nebraska to come in and take advantage of it. Ohio State has been terrible in short-yardage. They've been terrible in goal-line. What? We're familiar with that. We know what that looks like, what it sounds like, right?
Starting point is 00:06:41 That if Nebraska is going to be sound defensively and make tackles in open field, you've heard this before, correct? that they will do well. Now, mind you, Ohio State doesn't need help. They've got enough talent, but I'll tell you this. I'll tell you this. They needed help against Penn State, and I mean a lot of help against Penn State.
Starting point is 00:07:04 Penn State had to give Ohio State a ton of help last week, putting the ball on the turf, running through. Yep. Yep. There's an opportunity for them to do well, right? There's an opportunity. We've seen the worst of Adrian Martinez. We've seen it.
Starting point is 00:07:27 How many of us expect Adrian to bounce back and be better Adrian this week? Adrian has played pretty well against Ohio State the past. He knows them. They know him. But I would expect that he may have a better day. 11 o'clock, Saturday morning, Memorial Stadium. He's at home. He'll be well-rested.
Starting point is 00:07:52 Plenty of opportunities for him to do well. Simple. But Ohio State. is playing for a greater purpose, a mission. Ohio State has said this is like March Madness of them. It's win in advance. They are putting the focus on that they have to win tomorrow. And that part worries me.
Starting point is 00:08:23 A team that has a purpose to win versus a team that is preparing to win. There's a difference. That additional thing. and I hope that Nebraska has a plan for what they're going to do. From the text line, what's up, D.P.? I got a bold prediction for the game. It's going to be seven to three. Seven touchdowns and three points.
Starting point is 00:08:46 You're a funny dude. That's good. That's good. Also from the text line, I would love to nominate my wife, Tava. She's a second grade teacher here in Lincoln. She is a very busy couple of weeks with parent-teacher conferences and school meetings on top of her normal schedule. So thanks. Adam. Adam, if you can get here before 6 o'clock, yes. How about that? And here's the thing. Here's what I'll do. I'll throw in something extra for your wife because she is a teacher. And teachers make my heart smile. So to know that there will be a Lincoln teacher who has a better day because of Beatrice Bakery and 937 the ticket, I'm all in. So if you can get here by 6 o'clock, the answer is yes. Yes, yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Ben says a team that needs to win with style points is very scary, giving you're current situation. Ben, you're absolutely right. Look, they work from the mantra that they need individual players to play at championship level, and they set that level, and they set that standard, and it's known. Do we know what championship level is individually here at Nebraska? We do not. Ohio State knows, and they're graded out, and it's spoken about.
Starting point is 00:10:03 they're holding people accountable to it. I would love to know what Nebraska's championship caliber of play is, what championship level play is, grading out at 80 plus percent on all of the things that you're supposed to do in the course of a game. 80 percent productivity, 80 percent efficiency? Good guacamole, man. That's impressive.
Starting point is 00:10:34 And Ben, you're right. If Adrian's ankle is still bothering him, it could be trouble. I do not disagree with you, sir. I do not disagree with you. We're going to make somebody else smile here as well. Up next, Nick's trivia. And here's what we're going to do with that. Are you ready for this?
Starting point is 00:10:58 Nick is going to choose the trivia question. You call in. And if you answer, if you answer the trivia question, correctly. One, you will get a gift certificate from from upside bar and lounge and two tickets to tomorrow's Huskers Ohio State game. How about that? How about that? And it's all in the hands of Nikki Trivia. So call now. 402-464-5-6-85. We'll toward a break.
Starting point is 00:11:32 Line up. Line them up. Because if the first person's wrong, Second person will get a shot. Call now with Rother to Bake. More one-on-one when we come back. Watch live on Facebook, YouTube, or Twitch. You're listening to One-on-One with DP on 937 The Ticket and The Ticketfm.com.
