One final segment here on one-on-one before we hand the microphone off to Adam Pierker
and get his thoughts on, of course, a busy and interesting weekend day, all this.
This is how, I'll say this, okay?
And this is not me targeting Nebraska media.
A lot of people are tweeting that Matt Ruehl reaffirmed his commitment to Nebraska
and recommitted to Nebraska.
Wow.
While that was true, he also went on.
a
I don't want to say
I don't want to say a tirade
he went on a speech
about how much he loved Penn State
so this is once again the
rose color stuff we did get asked
Bach
do you guys feel like
what are the chances Cory and Lincoln
what are the chances Penn State
announces a higher in the next few weeks
here's what I would say to that Corey and Lincoln
and we were talking about this during the break
it for me
I'll say this and I'll put my
my own like whatever reputation i guess little that there is on it um you don't think of much
of reputation i don't know i'm still young i get it people probably don't think i know a whole lot
or talk to a lot of people and that's fine um i would imagine that if anything were to to really
start to crumble and tea leaves were start to fall it would be the by week after ucLA's game
because here's the thing and bach and i you and i talked about this where it feels like i mean let's
hypothetically say nebraska loses to me
Minnesota and to
UCLA. Then you have a buy week.
And Nebraska's six and three.
Does that do enough for Penn State?
Like are they going to want to have hired him already?
Now, on the flip side,
if Nebraska wins the next three games,
and they're sitting there at eight and one,
which is a possibility,
then yeah, that hire becomes a lot more attractive.
I think that by week after the UCLA game
is kind of the week that I'm personally looking at
as like, okay, that's when
stuff will really start to get real.
Well, and I think, too, you know, Penn State, mostly stuff,
a lot of it waits till December.
I mean, you got to think about, you know,
in Penn State, you know, the allure to doing it early
would be before the other big programs come coming,
and there might be a bigger job opportunity coming along.
Penn State is the job.
Now, Florida might come about,
I mean, there might be a little bit of competition
as far as being the top job,
but it's going to be able to have its pick of the litter
for the most part in this offseason.
So I would expect more than anything for this to last.
And if I'm if I'm Penn State and I have my eyes on Matt rule,
I certainly want to see how year three goes at Nebraska.
Absolutely.
Right now midway through the season, yeah, it's going all right.
But you know, how about that game against USC?
Yeah.
I mean, you have to see how it plays out if I'm them.
So if I'm Penn State, I'm in no hurry.
No.
We haven't seen Oklahoma State or UCLA or Virginia Tech or any of these teams jump and make
a higher question.
Everybody knows you're open.
Right.
Everybody knows Penn State's open, right?
That's all they needed to know.
There's advantages to be in one of the first jobs available.
Everybody knows it, right?
And you have your pick of the litter to at least have conversations with.
Last thing I will also add, Bach, is that the comment that might be slipped under the radar from his little question and answer thing there.
That wasn't very reassuring, but I guess we're framing it that it is.
is that he was, Matt is very strategic and pointed and intentional with everything he says.
And he mentioned the moment about investments and that means financially.
There's reasons he brings that up.
There is a reason he brings that up, whether that's NIL investments, whether that's
contract investment for him, anything.
We might sit here and say,
Oh, Nebraska's in a great spot.
And they might be.
But in comparison to national championship contending programs, might not be.
I don't remember quite he said not too long ago about maybe if he had money for a running back,
you might have went there.
There are reasons he says that stuff.
Yeah.
It's very pointed.
And it's going to be something that slips under the radar for a lot of people.
Yeah.
Interesting, interesting times.
Interesting day.
Stay tuned to 93-7.
The ticket all day will continue to bring the coverage on this.
And of course, we didn't get to it much, but there will be a little bit of breaking down
the game, too.
from this past weekend and beating Maryland.
Adam Caracro up next year on 937, the ticket.
We'll talk you soon.
