Final segment of one-on-one.
We appreciate you guys.
You guys have been active on the text line today.
Good stuff.
Greatly appreciate it.
42464-5-6-85 if you need to.
Dusty says this.
What up, DP?
What up, Dusty.
I know off-topic, but I'm going to Houston and Galveston for a long weekend, start tomorrow.
Is there anything we should see, do, or eat?
Papadoes.
Popadoes.
You and J always talk about Poppadoos.
Right there in the Woodlands, Texas,
about 15 minutes outside the city.
If you're in the city of Houston,
the breakfast club.
The breakfast club is the best.
I hate, and look, this is no shame,
the best breakfast in the entire country.
And there's always a line,
so be prepared to wait 30 minutes.
But when you get in there,
they have a chicken and waffles that will shame anybody's ever cooked for you.
I'm just going to let you know.
You're going to probably run into some Texans and some rockets.
It's going to happen.
You're going to run into some sports legends in the building.
But it's the best food ever.
It's amazing.
It's amazing.
So if you're going to Houston, breakfast club and popadoes, those are two that I would recommend.
Let's bring in our guests.
And he's look, look, I have a.
I have some voice envy.
I have some mustache envy because I can't possibly pull the mustache off.
It's a pretty good mustache.
I can't lie.
You know, let's bring in Sam Hoyberg.
How you doing?
How are you doing?
How are you doing?
Good, man.
Busy morning?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Okay.
Are you lowering your voice on purpose?
No, I'm not.
When he first came, the first time he came in, he hit the bottom.
I was like, really, bro?
Like, you're going to.
Hey, how are you guys doing?
I promise you.
So let's, let's do the, you are going to do your own show in this station.
I am just thrilled.
I'm just throw, I'm throw for you.
I'm glad you get voice.
I glad you get to be heard.
Key say it again.
Key, can you say what he's doing again?
Sam Hoyberg is going to have his own show, weekly show, here on 937 the ticket.
You had to get the brocode.
You had to go brocode.
Look, I'm excited because in this day and age,
there are people that have voice and opinion,
and we spend a lot of time talking about a basketball team
or a basketball player or a basketball program,
but it's different to have somebody in the program tell you from their own voice,
their own words, what they want to talk about,
what they don't want to talk about.
And I have a sneaky suspect.
that not all of your show is going to be basketball.
I think a lot of it's going to be the stuff that goes on,
student life stuff around the sports that you care about.
What's your number one sport away from college basketball?
It's golf for me.
See, I knew that was going to be it.
So here's the challenge for you.
We have a women's golf show.
Okay.
We're going to send you out with them.
Okay.
Okay.
And I don't think you have much fear.
On the golf court?
Yeah.
I mean...
What's your handicap?
Well, when I finish high school golf, which is like just about over a year ago, it was a scratch.
This is going to be fun.
Interesting.
This is going to be fun.
Like, now I'm not even close to playing that.
How often do you play now?
Like, you had the offseason, so...
I mean, I've probably only played once or two.
twice as month.
Do you, is that a seasonal thing?
I mean, does it stop come September?
I mean, I just, because since basketball started, like, I don't have as much time to
get out there, but, like, I go, I'll play as late as I want, like, I'll play in October
if I have time.
But, and then Kase comes back next week.
He's huge into golf now.
Uh-oh.
And he doesn't play much in Japan, so he'll want to play a lot.
So he'll probably start playing more.
So there'll be a little bit of a run before you guys go to camp.
Yeah.
When does basketball go to camp?
Well, so we finish the summer session, August 3rd, and then I believe the 21st of August is when we get it back into it.
Wow.
That's not a lot of time off.
Three weeks about.
It's a lot for us.
Is that enough?
I think so.
Right?
It also keeps you out of trouble.
It keeps you out of trouble.
I want too much time off.
Yeah, yeah, we're talking to Sam Hoyberg.
And again, you know, I'm excited.
and being able to put him in a space where he can communicate for himself,
share his passions and his love.
What's your favorite course?
What's your favorite course to play out?
Ever just like, there are like courses around here.
Well, we'll do both because, you know.
Around here in Lincoln, Firethorn, that's where we belong.
And we live on it.
Okay.
And I played Sandhills last month.
That's hard to be.
And I also played Bellar National back when we lived near Chicago.
That was tough to be, too.
I mean, we got to, for any golfer, what's your favorite club in your bag?
Probably when it's on, driver.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's the one you go to.
Me as a golfer, if you want to know who I am, me and my driver, that's it.
Yeah, or putter.
Good hands?
Yeah, my short game's good.
Okay.
It's the middle is where I get off sometimes.
but driver and putter normally when I play well as you're on and I actually so I hit lefty
and I put righty so you're just cheating now is that is that what was over there yeah is that what we're
finding out literally where's it come from well I don't know where the lefty came from but I
started putting righty because I found a righty putter in my garage and I was in second grade
and I liked it better that'll that'll do you ever steal your dad's club is that allowed
No.
What was the reaction when you stole your dance post?
I mean, he's got plenty of putters.
Do you have your own bag now?
It's just yours?
Yeah.
All right.
Who's your favorite person to play with?
Well, there's a four-some.
It's me, my twin brother, Charlie, and my dad and my dad's best friend.
We have a ton of fun playing together.
Any friendly wagers within said, you know.
We definitely play games, not, you know.
Not too.
We don't really play.
Whole challenge, you know.
It's more for bragging rights.
Yeah.
Who's the best golfer in the family?
Right now it's Charlie.
He gets the most time to play, though, because he isn't playing.
See, that's the dig, right?
That's a locally dig.
Okay.
That's going to be good.
When we talk about you having a weekly place for you to have conversations,
have you started to think about who you want to have on as a regular person that you can just talk to
and laugh with and be silly?
or do you want to just continue the rotation?
I think I'll probably do a rotation.
Okay.
Because I don't know if other guys want to commit to a weekly thing.
I'll just start.
I think it'd be good to have variety too.
So week one, we'll pick a date.
I'm thinking like that last week of August,
so when everybody's back and it kind of gives you time,
although if you said next week, I wouldn't say no to that either.
Week one guest, what kind of guests are you looking for?
Is this a funny person?
Is this a smart person?
Is it somebody like you?
What are you going to do week one?
Well, I'll try to, probably funny.
Yeah.
I'm thinking right now Will.
Will home?
He's hilarious.
I think he'd be good.
We love, we love.
My guy.
He's looking good.
He just got back to live last week.
Oh.
He's probably got the most dunks in summer out of anyone,
and he's just started a week ago.
Really?
Yeah.
He's jumping way higher than I saw him all of last year.
Perfect.
See, see.
Am I going to have to make another basketball pretty?
Yeah.
Am I going to have to go out on a limb again?
I was right once and I was completely wrong another time.
Oh, yeah.
My first one was that Thor would average, what, seven points a game.
And he got like nine or ten.
I was like, yeah, see, I was right.
And then the next one went really out on a limb.
And I said that Ivan would average a double double.
Didn't play much.
Didn't even have a double digit.
I hope folks were on the video stream just to see Charlie's, see Sam's face just now.
Sam, he gave you the look like, no, no.
Yeah.
I was feeling good.
Don't know why I was feeling so good.
That was not.
That was not.
I was made fun of for the first one.
And the second one, not made fun of enough.
And, yeah, regretted that one.
We're going to, we do a thing that's Kool-Aid or not Kool-Aid.
It's a dumb game.
It is an amazing game because it makes you get off the fence.
Just get off the fence.
That's what we're-
Fence is my friend.
Cool.
or not cool aid, Sam Hoyberg.
Huskers hoops over 500.
I can't say that right now, but I'm never going to say below.
Right.
And I'm not going to lie.
Like, playing against this team is different than last year.
Like offensively for me, it's so much harder to score this summer than it was last year.
Just length and depth.
Rico?
We're doing a different type of defense.
I won't say what it is, but.
The secrets that you need to keep.
keep are the secret you need to keep.
There's the things.
Rico?
Oh, I'm full in.
I'm all in.
All in.
Yeah.
It's really a problem.
See, I'm going to get, this is where, this is the part that Rico hates.
The words that I can't say.
Cool-A.
C-C-guidate or not Kool-A.
Sam Hoyberg starts to give it point guard this year.
Look at Sam why you say it, too.
Look just like.
You said a game, right?
I said one game.
I'll take that.
I'll take that.
Sam, I won't ask you that.
I won't ask you that.
I won't ask you that.
Did you participate in Derek's clinic?
I actually did not because I had to go to Omaha for something.
I didn't know that that was the thing until Sunday.
Is that something you're going to do going forward?
Is that something you can see yourself doing that?
You put together your own camp and you get your own.
yourself out there. Absolutely. I mean, I'm just seeing like what Derek's doing. Like he's really
trying to get out there and get the team doing this type of stuff. So in the future, I could
definitely see myself being the one doing that. I think it's important, again, to thank you.
Because this is going to put you on in a different space. I'm going to coach you until you kick me
out of the room because I think your voice in this space is necessary.
and vital. So I'm looking forward to what you do with it. What are you thinking? You want to start
late August? What do you think? Yeah, I think late August would be. Let you give you three weeks to do your
thing. I'll be out of town and then when I get back I'll be here for. Do you come up with a name for it?
I don't have a name for it. See, we've got to work. I'm not very creative with that stuff.
We're going to work. Look, I'm going to put you in with Margonne and Wala. We're going to figure this out.
Yeah, as soon as the show's there. Yeah, as soon as it shows over. So looking forward to it.
I'm glad you're enjoying your off time.
I love what you guys are doing,
and I'm really, really excited about what you're going to do next.
So I'm going to take you into the meeting office over here.
We'll work out some stuff.
That's Sam Hoyberg.
That is Rico.
I'm DP.
The captain shows up next.
Where are they at, Rico?
They are at 28th in Pine Lake.
They're out south.
Link step out there.
Okay.
Stop by.
See the captain.
See for Sean Jackson.
And you'll hear from Nick because that's what Nick does.
of course.
Duceus!
I'm out.
