Final segment, Texas says this.
Should a program be allowed to decline playing in the conference championship
and the chance of an additional loss to put them out of the playoff?
Now, again, simplicity in the bowl that the conferences will send their two best representatives
to a championship game.
There's no opting out.
And if you choose to opt out of being a part of the conference plan, then you lose the benefit of it.
you've allowed Notre Dame to not be a part of the conference committee.
They're not a member of the conference club.
You've allowed them out of it.
And then because of that, they said,
well, we're not going to be a part of the ball games at all
because you didn't send us where we want it.
You know what'll fix that?
Hey, if you opt out this year,
we automatically opt you out.
You are not open for consideration next year.
Or maybe the next two.
You don't want to be a part of what we're doing.
You do not want to be a part of the board.
You don't want to follow membership rules.
You don't want to follow membership what's good for the plan.
Because having Notre Dame in a big bowl game is good for college football.
But if you choose, if you decide to opt out of the bowl system in 2025, guess what?
2026, go sit in a corner.
Go to the kitty table.
Gone down the street.
Go do your own thing.
Have your own party.
You can't be a part of it.
of the playoff system if you're not a part of the
bowl, bowl process.

But again, it's not a competition.
Way fair, every style, every home.
And the bowl process, it's all connected, right?
Because that's how Nebraska moves up in the bowls
because Big Ten responsibilities allow it.
So Notre Dame, fine.
You want to stand up and, okay, cool.
But guess what?
That's two strikes against you.
One, you choose not to be in any conference.
You choose to be a rebel.
You choose to be an outsider.
Okay, fine.
Two, if you opt out of the bowl, bowl games,
no way you get in next year.
A&M and Ole Miss, the one-lost conversation,
that's all the same stuff.
That the conference can determine who their two representatives are
by who they put in the bowl game,
and then the wild card.
Four wild cards other than what we did this year
would have made more sense.
in the next year
it's eight wildcard
it's 12 wildcard
actually
right
12 wild cards
and they'll get to a point where they
put a max on the number of teams from a conference
because if you had 12 wild cards and you say
I want the eight best rest
the eight highest ranked teams who aren't
conference champions
folks are still going to say
three of those are
SEC
It's a fixable system
It's just going to require some work
Appreciate y'all hanging out with us for the hour
Don't go anywhere the big guy
The walls will crop out of character
Up next
