Back to one-on-one with D.P.
Sponsored by the Downtown Lincoln Foundation on 93-7 the ticket.
One-on-one, we're talking about Jack Kings and company, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
Bach, are you familiar with No-Vig?
No-Vig.
No-Vig.
Are you familiar with Sidney?
Yeah.
Okay.
So the recent controversy was her being a part of this No-Vig betting at.
and the the ad was her scantily clothed, barely clothed, saying, hey, boys, come bet with us at NoVig.
It's funny, I know what you're talking about, but I didn't know it was NoVig.
Yeah, I've seen the controversy.
It's Novic.
And then as a part of the class that we teach on campus, I was asking students, do you know what Vig?
Becky brought up the question so we had, do you know what Vig is?
In a betting sense?
Yeah, you know what Vig is.
Nope.
Right.
It's the commission that you make.
So when you hear in some other family businesses, VIG, pay the VIG,
the VIG is interest in commission on the transaction.
So they're pitching and telling that this is the app that, but there's no commission pay.
There's no Vig.
Just straight money.
Hey, Bach, what are the odds that there's no Vig?
Very low.
How are you going to make money?
you just put it in the cost
you just put it in the cost but here's the thing
but again if we understand that the house wins
they just need you in the house
Sydney Swin is a pretty good way to get college guys
into the into the house don't you think?
Oh yeah right especially when Sidney says
you give me 10 bucks I'll give you 20
oh yeah
are the guys jumping in
they're jumping in
No vague, though.
Except there is.
67% of college students, students on campus,
that's from an NCAA survey.
Generally, ages 18 to 22,
58% of all 18 to 22-year-olds bet.
Bach, 41% of these.
students bet on their school's team.
Who we, Bach.
What are we doing?
What are we doing?
Hard to imagine they're being biased when they're doing it.
They're not taking out the bias when they're doing that.
63% of on-campus students
recall seeing sports betting ads.
58% these ads make them more likely to bet.
And be careful, mom and dad,
because this element of advertising and marketing and influence has reached your high school.
The high school that you work in, that you teach in, that your sons and daughters go to, it's reached.
Are you aware that it's reached?
And what are you going to do about it?
I would ask that you have a conversation with your young people, an honest conversation about it.
That's all.
That's all. You don't want it in your house, right?
I don't want it in my house.
I don't want teenagers betting.
I don't want that around me.
That's just me.
