Starting point is 00:00:06 We are back here on one-on-one on 93-7. The ticket once again, DP is out today. But we are rolling along myself, Jake Bachman, alongside Ellie in studio. And we just had a very interesting conversation with a couple special guests, Terrell Newby, senior, that is, of course, father of Husker running back, Terrell Newby from a few years back. And Jeremy Luggenville stopped in to talk about hidden battles, destigmatizing mental illness. So if you miss that, a lot of good stuff in there. Head to the ticketfm.com here in just a while. We'll get it podcasted.
Starting point is 00:00:43 I'll also put out a video there on YouTube if you want to catch that interview. But it is time to move forward a little bit and talk some sports here, some interesting notes I've got going on here. We only got about 20 minutes. So it'll be a little bit of fun. Ellie, how are you doing today? I'm doing good. It's always fun to be on the radio, talk a little bit. but also just, I swear I promise I won't bring up. Every time I get nervous when people see or hear my name, they're like, oh, she's going to talk about Taylor Swift today. Oh, of course.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Because I know a lot of the times, the only time that I really get brought in is, guys, this is the first time in a long time. I'm not talking about Taylor Swift today. But if you want me to mention her in any way possible, please let me know. But I know that's probably not what you want to hear, obviously. I mean, I was going to go through the new.
Starting point is 00:01:33 album and see what you know you're going to rank out the the new songs at all but i suppose we we don't have to do that i will if you don't want to i will no i think you'd be you'd be talking over a lot of people i would they'd be like all right bull next next i'm like okay i won't do it yeah yeah we'll see i i i i'm always down to talk to taylor swift but unfortunately this is a sports radio station And people really, I've come in the times that I have talked about her. I've talked about her. If you bring her up, I'll talk. But I've talked about her and got brought up in every time without a doubt.
Starting point is 00:02:10 Everybody was like, all right, next. Let's talk about something else. Let's talk about next. And I'm like, okay, fine. Let's talk about Travis Kelsey. I'm fine. I mean, it really was. I don't know if we're going to get.
Starting point is 00:02:20 I don't know if you know like in the minute what, how it was just, it was, I went to the Kansas City game where Taylor and Travis were. It just felt like the king and queen were there because they were the absolute it couple. They just got engaged and all that. So it was just like a big headline, especially for people in Nebraska to be able to go. Because that was like their first public appearance since getting engaged. And to be at a Cincinnati versus Nebraska football game was insane. And obviously like I'm watching the game and I'm trying to.
Starting point is 00:02:50 I had two little girls sitting in front of me during the game. And I had them checking out, Taylor, if she was like moving so I could focus on. on the game. I'm like, all right, you guys watch because I know that's what you care about a little bit more than this. But I'll watch the game. You just let me know if she makes the sudden move. Like, if she moves in the perfect angle for me to take a picture and send it to my friends. I did take a picture of her bangs. I got her bangs. You got her bangs on picture. So, and then somebody I, some of my family friends, they were in perfect seating that they could see into their, like, TMZ. If I were to send this picture to TMZ, TMZ would eat this. Oh, nice.
Starting point is 00:03:27 You could have made some money. I know. That's what I'm saying. It was a really good video too. But just to be able to, one, have Travis Kelsey there to be supporting Cincinnati. Obviously, they were there to support them to get that win. I felt like I got that win over Travis and Taylor in a way because we all know who they were there for. But it was a really cool thing.
Starting point is 00:03:48 What are people saying? They're like, all right next. Bill and Bennett says enough already. And probate says, yes, change topics. So there you go. I know. much Taylor Swift, but it did, it did cross over with Hustker football there. I'm talking about Husker football.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Okay, obviously she's bringing it. Sorry. Moving on. I told you. I knew it was going to happen. All right. We're losing viewership. We're coming back.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Yeah, yeah, yeah. We better bring it up a Maryland this week. What do you think about the Maryland game here? I'm excited. I'm excited to see what we can do, especially coming off of Michigan State. Michigan States, that was insane. I, I don't really go in it. going into this season, I don't really, I didn't put a lot of expectation on it because I
Starting point is 00:04:32 know compared to other people that love Nebraska football, they have so much, so much expectation on this because we, and that's all right to have an expectation. We've seen what we can do. We've won championships. We wouldn't be saying all this stuff if we didn't think that there, this had happened before. So going into the Michigan state, going into Michigan, I just don't have any expectation of it. It's like, oh, give me a score prediction. And I talked to DP about this. this DP doesn't give a score prediction, which I think is really smart because one, so many different things can happen within a game that you can't, you can't predict like DP giving example,
Starting point is 00:05:11 oh, so many may broke up with their girlfriend or, oh, something going on. Like that changes. So many outside factors can also affect a football game. So you don't know that. So during the Michigan game, I threw out a 2721. Clearly wasn't that. We beat them a lot more than I had thought. we were going to and I got to watch that game I went to set the bar in Omaha that
Starting point is 00:05:33 was it's they only play women's sports in there it was a really cool vibe and they had the Nebraska volleyball game on one screen and then the football game on the other screen so they were going that was a really cool thing it was an exception that day yes there was an exception for that day that's what I said I'm like that was the first time of there I'm like guys this is a football game what are we doing but obviously there was a bunch of Nebraska fans there so they obviously wanted to have that but having them both playing at the same time so right when Nebraska football ended they put the volleyball game on both screens so you can see it but watching that the blocked punt like they we're like seeing little things that we
Starting point is 00:06:12 haven't seen from Nebraska in a long time and especially having our our special teams like having them there and just the work that they're doing and people always talking about DeLerella, I'll watch and I'll listen. I have to clip the Matt rule and all those press. Oh yeah. You hear all the little things. And compared to past years, I feel like I know and I will not know, but I am more intrigued
Starting point is 00:06:40 about what Nebraska football can do compared to obviously like in a job like this. You're constantly getting this information. Things are going on and you need to know that stuff. If you want to talk about it on air, which we're doing right now. And obviously I'm not sitting here saying that I'm a buck or an austin or a nick like i'm obviously not going to be take what i say with a great assault but like i'm wrong too about stuff all the time no worry you can get stuff these are all just opinions
Starting point is 00:07:08 that we have we can just talk and about them but i'm really excited for maryland i think we could do i'm hoping we do what we did against michigan state to maryland obviously but it's it's it's an away game this is our first this is our first like real away game. So I'm interested to see what we can do especially because Maryland's Maryland. We don't nobody compared to other teams, you don't talk about
Starting point is 00:07:35 Maryland compared to a Penn State. They're not a powerhouse. They're not a powerhouse. So it should be going in there. I don't think Nebraska should be nervous in a way. Obviously nervous for a way game travel. There's travel components that go into that. So, but they are leaving a little, I think
Starting point is 00:07:51 they're leaving two day to go there. So they have tomorrow to kind of And I found out they go to movies. Yeah. Did they do that every time? That's been a tradition for a long time. That's Terrell. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:02 They have team movies back then. So, yeah, I know they went to Superman before. I think the Cincinnati, I don't know they've been to recently, but that would get me pumped up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Matt Ruhl says the movies haven't been good choices. I know. I heard him say that. I'm like, well, then what movies are you going to? Because I, I am a huge movie person.
Starting point is 00:08:20 I love movies. Yeah. And I love quoting movies. I love when people bring up movies. because I can tell them how much I know about them. But if I were, just to be able to do that, I love going to the movie theater. And especially if you're in like,
Starting point is 00:08:34 if you can rent out the whole theater for just your team, that was such a cool experience. And the fact that they are able to do that is so fun. That is good to hear. I like, I like hearing, you know, you're a little bit younger than me. Some of the younger people, I've heard that movie theaters might go extinct one day because people are in it.
Starting point is 00:08:50 I hope not. I hope not. I hope not. Especially, well, I'm from Grand Island, Nebraska. So we had our own movie theater. I grew up going to the movie theater all the time. That's where you would go with your friends. I remember being jipped.
Starting point is 00:09:03 It was the greatest showman was playing at the same time as in Citi's 3, the last key. And I was like, yes, we're going to the greatest showman. I'm so excited. And my friends are like, yeah, we'll go. We're going to go a little bit early. We'll get the tickets. Like I had something that I was meeting there.
Starting point is 00:09:18 They're like, yeah, we'll buy your ticket ahead of time. Like, yes, awesome. Clearly, I said in Citi's 3 at the beginning. They, instead of buying the greatest show them tickets, they bought insidious three tickets. It was the worst. Do not, people that go to horror movies in theaters, let's talk about that. That's crazy. Because I can watch a horror movie at home because I'm in the safety of my own home and I don't have to worry about going outside after that or like moving.
Starting point is 00:09:46 Because like I'm, I'm on edge even if I'm at home watching a horror movie. If I'm at a movie theater, everything is the three. Yeah. It's dark and there you can't see me. It's dark. Everything's a threat. If somebody screams, I'm going to scream. It's just like, ah, I can't do it.
Starting point is 00:10:02 But we had the really, not like crappy seats, but like that you had to sit up straight and like you could only sit like that at the theater's in Grand Island. I came to Lincoln. It was a luxury. Yeah. You can a long run. We go to Omaha. We called it growing up, we would go to Omaha and that was luxury. Like we call it, it was synodine where you would just click the button.
Starting point is 00:10:22 They would come to you and they would order like. That was so cool. So now having that luxury here all the time. I'm like, I can't go, but I don't think I've become a snob to a movie theater. I can't do that. I can't go back.
Starting point is 00:10:35 I can't go back. Well, fair enough. Did you ever see Greatest Showman? That's a good, I've seen Greatest Showman so many times. Several times. Okay,
Starting point is 00:10:41 well, that's good. So eventually I did get to see it. Yeah, I did not recommend the East Laskey. I couldn't tell you the plot of it, how, like what the ending was.
Starting point is 00:10:49 I remember bits and pieces, but like, I had just hands. like this the whole time i couldn't do it it was so bad all right we we got to go to break we will continue we've got uh just a few minutes to wrap up one on one on the other end we'll talk a little bit about port designs coming next year on 93 7 ticket
