Back to one-on-one with D.P. Presented by Beatrice Bakeray on 937 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com. I'm going to repeat it again. If you're not paying attention to Husker to ticket weeknights, you're missing out. The group last night from Riffin with AD and Chris Rav, man, Tony Veelein popped on. Gates was in the room. Yeah, they had a good time, great conversation, and it was Aaron Davis's birthday. So if you get a chance, shout out Aaron Davis and wish him a happy birthday.

He's gone through his stuff. And the fact that he's made it to 48 is a blessing indeed. So feel free to do that. We also had, and I don't want to poo-poo the men's wind and I don't want to dark. So we'll save the clip for tomorrow. But oh my goodness, it was exceptional. So Nicolin Hames, Kenzie Knuckles, every Wednesday night, 9 o'clock. If you're wanting to get close to them and see what's going on, it's pretty good stuff.

And their special guest last night was Anni Stewart. Evans. Evans, sorry. I don't want to keep on basketball. I just saw the game day for tonight. And it has Anika Stewart on. You good. Ani Evans was in last night.

And of course, she's from Waverly. There was a lot of talk over. There's three Husker volleyballers are from Waverly that are on. Yeah. Waverly. Good volleyball school. Right. And having that conversation.

But as they're having the conversation and the best part of having the athletes do these shows is that they're sharing parts of themselves that fans just aren't normally going to get in the traditional press conference setting that normally they're interviewed in. This is more conversational and then kind of identifying who it is. that they are and what they're trying to be. So they were also going to serve as part of the postgame show. We had some technical difficulties with the stream. So I told Strict, look, don't worry about it. Just go ahead and go. Well, me and Bach and the three ladies will get through.

Well, Annie Evans made it clear. So somebody texted in and said, well, what sport would you play if, you weren't playing volleyball? And she immediately said basketball. She goes, I'm a baller. Like, I can play. I can play. I was like, go ahead, honey. She was like, yeah, yeah, yeah, we can do that.

And she said, she said in the, in the, in the, in the segment, she said, yeah, they call me buckets. They call me buckets. And Ketzy and Nicolin looked at her like, who calls you buckets? Just don't nobody call you buckets. Nobody calls you buckets. What are you talking about? Everybody calls me buckets. And then right then Jail Reyes, who of course is friends to the station, Jalen

text it goes, hey, bucket. So apparently it's like, you know, some people call her buckets. Some people call her buckets. Did you guys ask her if she wanted to see if, if Coach Cook was going to let Maggie play basketball, if she could run the basketball team. Well, she wants to try out. Okay. Ani wants a legitimate trial.

And I'm like, okay. Is that too confusing to have two ony? Well, well, but what we wanted to do was to bring in, put her with Ashley and have Ashley go take her for a work. workout because she says, you know, I can play. And then as that conversation is happening, I'm like, okay, yeah. So we, you know, Ashley can get you in front of Amy Williams, you know, you know, you know, you've already got one volleyball player coming in next year who's going to double up,

right? She also said that one of the ladies that's coming in, young ladies coming in is like a power thrower. So apparently she and somebody from the football team were like one in, you know, one in two in the state for shot put or discus or something and that her throw is the second best in the state to his including all the other boys in the state. That's incoming or somebody that's already on the team? Because I know.

Incoming? Well, I know. And I can't remember. She may be on campus now? I'm not sure. I can't remember her name right now. But she was on the volleyball team. She's a middle blocker.

Yeah. And she's on the track team right now. Her parents both played at Nebraska. I think her mom was on the volleyball team. We'll share the clip. And her dad and her sisters did track for Nebraska. So she was just going to do volleyball. But then she joined the track team this year.

And she's throwing currently. And she's been top five in every meet. Yeah. So she's top five in the state male or female. Can you got to, yeah. It's Kalen Meyer. There you go. Kailen Meyer.

So as they were having the conversation. and then it got, it got really, okay, so this will be the clip of the day tomorrow, but somewhere in this conversation. So Kenzie said that she would be a gymnast. And I'm like, okay. So easy matchup, right? She said she may be too tall for the bars because her legs might be too long, but there's a way for her to swing and not hit the second bar.

But she wants to do that. So we're going to put her with Michaela and Kenzie. And then Nicklin just goes, well, I just want to play football. So I'm just going to put on pads and go to practice and just run into people. Sounds great. I'm like, okay, so this is fascinating. The way she plays is pretty much the same thing. Yeah, she pretty much, that's what it is.

And then immediately, like as a part of it, Ani was saying, well, yeah, they had played basketball against some members of the basketball team, not knowing that they were members of the basketball team, so apparently they were freshmen or some sort. And they beat them. The volleyball players beat them. according to the story, right? The story that was told last night.

And, well, now and again, it's casual, right? You're just at a, yeah. Yeah, you're not competing, but you're competing. But also you're both high-level athletes, so maybe it was a little more competition. But not like all the way, but you know it was there. I'm going to give this to Kobe and CJ to investigate. But they were saying it was totally in fun.

They weren't mocking anything. No, no. Like there was no mocking going on. They're just like, yeah, we beat him. But, but, well, Because I was saying, look, I'm a baller. Like, I was hitting threes on them. And I didn't know until after the game was over after we won.

And one of the GAs came up and she asked him who they were. And she goes, oh, they're from the basketball team. Okay. So I'm going to find. So that'll be the clip of the day tomorrow. Necessary. What, they were having fun. And I was like, I'm going to warm Buzzie because I don't want him like going.

They went after you. No, they didn't go after you. they would just tell the story. And as it turns out, the guys that they were beating, because they were talking about their practice squad are guys. And so they're familiar with that. And I was just like, oh boy, this is another clip. Like this is the clip.

It happens. Look, look, it's fun. So now we've got some of the cross section going on because, of course, Versaun challenged the volleyball players. Versaunt challenged everybody. Uh, Strik. Anybody that's been on has been challenged. Strick was on with the volleyball players.

Oh, no. And Strick was like next time I'm in town, you know. Oh, Stry. Yeah. How tall is Strick? Strict six four, six three, six four. All right. So he's, like he's walking in.

I'm like, oh. So him and Maggi are the same height. Oh, like this is how like this is how this is going to happen, right? Him and him in, what, uh, uh, Stivvrons was six four, Lexi's son, six three, four. So they're still going to. And they said that the new transfer is probably good enough to play for Huskers basketball. A girlfriend Pitt?

Caitlin, Caitland, Horde? Yeah. She's. Caitlin or Caitlin? I think it's Caitlin. Okay. But I think, yeah, they said that they think she's good enough to play for the winner. Well, she is six, five.

So they were pointing this out. Like, you know, this is what it is. So again, if you're not. Teams helping teams. Yeah, right? Like if you're not listening to the Oscar weeknights, the ticket weeknights, I'm just telling you, these Huskers are just, they're funny, they're bright, engaging. It's good.

It's good stuff. It's been good stuff this week. Kenji Roeby talking about her foot injury and what's going on there. You know, of course, Kobe and CJ tonight, you know, this is a big day for them, day after. Buzzie, of course. So it'll be the truth with Kobe and CJ from 6 to 7. and what's the buzz from seven to nine and then nine o'clock we would do the women's postgame show

an hour after the game at nine o'clock unless Buzzy wants to just go. After they beat Ohio State. Right? After they do that. And then we're starting to coordinate. So you'll be able to have people calling in after games now. Like because we will be live.

So we'll be able to talk to some of these players. Also, talk to Norie. Norrie and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and a pipeline show. So Sunday when we're broadcasting live. Mm-hmm. I think we're going to put in up a nor nor, norie let Norris have an hour.

Mm-hmm. On Sunday. 12 noon. What are they? Pipeline. What's the show? Well they're going to they will decide that before. I was going to say something, but I feel like it'd be rude.

So I'm not going to say it now. So I think that's a part of it, right? As it builds. Nick was talking, I walked in last night. Nick was an interview, pre-interview, pre-recording with Abby Newsom from softball. And I've been talking to Abby, like, having her own show. And she's like, well, once we get through this week with the opening games,

because they're opening games this weekend. She goes, once we get through the opening week, then we'll figure out of time to make work. I'm like, perfect. You can do Tuesday night, which is a good night for them and be able to do that. And then track, because now we've, We've got two track athletes, men and men's and women who are interested in doing their shows. So we're going to try to find time for them.

Beautiful. So we're covering it all. We're getting it all covered. We're having the conversations that need to be had. All in fun. And we do that. I'm going to, we'll throw it to break. When we'll come back, we'll talk about this weekend's events.

And, you know, there's a lot going on. Strick was on YouTube. He said, I'm down. It's going down. I know. I'm actually going to put Strick on their show. so that he can talk to them about it. Okay, Strick, you need to come down for the state tournament.

We've got to watch more games together. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And he can come down and bring up to me and Nick. Yeah, he can broadcast with me and Nick. He did that last year with me and Connor. So it would be good. So we'll talk about this weekend's Home and Garden show and what we're going to do there.

We'll give away a couple more squares for Super Bowl. We've got to do a tab to make sure it because today's Thursday. Yeah, we got to get all of them in by tomorrow. make sure you guys give out a bunch. I think we're going to give four today. Yeah. So make sure you listen to Happy Hour Call in, text in.
