You're listening to One-on-One with D.P.
Brought to you by Canopy Street Market on 93-7 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com.
Welcome back.
One-on-one, again, Anthony Linerd-Hart Smith will be back at the top of the hour.
But the folks who take care of us need to be taken care of.
We are greatly appreciative.
Always greatly appreciative.
When the folks from Tift-Tanus comes in, they bring goodies.
Everybody's full.
and everybody's happy.
So it's good to have family that looks out for us.
Nate, won't you tell us what you brought today?
What did you bring with us?
We brought our Memphis Taco.
So it's a beef, brisket and barbecue with, of course,
flour tortillas, and then we put some fried onions on it.
The fried onions were a big hit.
They are.
They were a big hit.
And it's funny, too, because I know that when you're coming,
I don't eat breakfast that day.
just to make sure that we've covered ourselves.
And I do want to take the opportunity to thank you both.
Because when we bring in student athletes that your willingness and heart to help take care of them and feed them,
I don't know that they ever get to tell you what it means to them.
But the athletes, they love your space, they love your food.
And then they just rave.
They bring to go containers and they sit back there and it's their favorite day of the week because they know what they're getting.
So thank you for doing that for us and for them.
Thank you.
We love being able to do that with them and for them.
And we love the opportunity.
We'll do it as many times as you need.
It's so good to be able to have that contact.
Well, I say be careful because there's a large, there's a large human being here.
And he immediately just somebody goes, barbecue.
Anthony Smith can eat.
So I just want to, yeah, he's got a big family.
So yeah, just if he starts stuck in your building, you, yeah.
We'll get it figured out.
We have Nate and Shandy Stewart from Tipsy Tinas.
And Shandy, we have events coming up for Tipsy Tinas.
What is on the docket coming up?
So one of the most important things that we do every year is our charity golf tournament.
We partner with Clinic with a Heart to do a charity golf tournament at Woodland Hills.
And that is on August 17th, for me and scramble.
So you can sign up through Woodland Hills website.
You can call them and get your team registered,
or you can let us know and we can work with you on that.
We just like to make that event as big as we can every year.
Clinic with a Heart does so much in our community to help those with dental needs,
health care needs.
They reach so many different people in our community.
So we really love partnering with them,
and they do a wonderful job advocating for the event.
So they're just a phenomenal company to work with.
Now, is there, you sent them to a website that they can go to and register.
How many, how many foursomes are you trying to get?
How many groups are you trying?
How many teams are you trying to get?
You know, 30 years.
I mean, we've sold it out a couple, you know,
there's been a couple years where we sold it out.
I know, our goal is always, of course, to sell it out.
But, you know, we know, we average around, I mean, Jake played it with, you know,
with me last year.
Yeah, about 25 teams is what we're, you know, our goal is.
We try to do it on a Sunday more.
morning. So especially with the restaurant industry because we're also partnered with
gate 25 mckinneys. So we try to get some of those people involved in it. Um, it's a fun
tournament. There's a lot of different things that we do from typical golf tournaments that you
don't see like for example, you can purchase. Um, it's called a throw. So when you hit a shot,
you can go up and grab the golf ball and you can throw it. It's a continuous to your last
shot. So that's kind of fun. It's a way to blow it your arm.
I know that.
There's a lot of people think you can throw a golf ball 200 yards, but then you throw as hard as
it can and when it goes about 80 yards.
So that's always kind of fun.
Uncle Rico of Napoleon's Island might.
So there's both of those mountains over there.
But not good.
But can we film Jake growing?
Can we enter denny?
Do it?
Can we do that?
The camera couldn't keep up.
It'd be too far out of sight.
Oh, geez.
No, I remember the first year he did.
I hit a shot and I was probably like 120, 130.
I'm like, oh, I'm going to throw this thing right.
around the green. I did not swing the golf club really well, the rest of the day, because I...
You're hurt your arm.
But see, this is where the women in our lives have to remind us who we really are.
Yeah.
Did you tell him, go easy?
If I would have, if I'd have seen it, I definitely probably would have, because he gets very
critical of his golf swing as it is. So we don't want to overdo it.
And we'll have a ton of sign on auctions. A lot of our beer reps and liquor companies give us a lot of
things. What are we talking about?
Give me some of the list in case.
So we'll have a lot of neon signs.
We've got like really cool like ultra golf bags.
We've gotten Tito's golf bags.
We've had sets of bags that we give out.
The graduate hotel always gives us a couple of free rooms to auction off.
Well, Jake didn't even ask.
We could have done it.
Well, I'm working on it.
We'll help out.
We do we can.
Yeah.
I mean, you know, there are things.
We can throw, you know, some swag,
bags together.
Absolutely.
I think that would be,
that would be well.
Yeah,
clinic.
So this will be,
I want to say our 11th year
doing it.
It's been great.
And especially a clinic of a heart,
especially that are down here in a hand market.
They've been great working with us.
And they've done a lot of remodeling and additions in the last three or four years.
And they're just,
they have a kind heart and they're just want to help people as much as they can.
Well,
how's business at the restaurant?
Good.
Sometimes a little slower.
but you know it's kind of okay to kind of take a little break especially like in august we have a lot
events going on at pinnacle bank we of course mcquins will be um participating in wingfest i know that
commercial list went through that's a big event for us um and it's getting ready for football then of course
we had the volleyball tournament on a 23rd and 24 25th um so it's okay to kind of take a little bit of a
break restaffed everyone trained up um especially when you have
have three home games in a row just getting this stuff good to go tina's has been really busy of
course tina's with us having such a big patio space people i mean there's something better than drinking
a margarita and eating tacos on a patio yeah you're preaching to the choir you're preaching to the choir
again let folks know how to find out about the event if they want to check in and they want to register
um so just go to woodland hills um or follow our facebook links on mcccini's tinas or gate 25 um and you can click
on her and be able to register your team. And then she and also, they had a event we're doing
on Thursday at Tina. As I'll let her talk about that a little bit. And in addition to working with
McKenny's and Tinas and Gate 25 off leash dog bar is also partnering with us to provide staff
and engagement and everything. So they've been amazing to partner with as well. We have at tipsy
Tina's, we have our first ever themed like punk emo night. Our staff
has been asking us to do a theme night for years. And so they are all very excited. It'll start at
eight o'clock. We've got, I think we have some extra extra special lighting that we've had brought in.
We have extra decor. Everyone's going to dress up. It's going to be a really fun time and we'll be
playing kind of punk, emo, alternative music through the evening. Everyone's really excited for that.
So if you get time and you want to come down and check that out, that'll be really fun. We really want to be
able to do more of these theme nights if it takes off. So we're hoping that it's a good turnout.
So Thursday, what time? Thursday starting at 8, this Thursday starting at 8. And no cover.
No, no cover charge at all. Just come, have a drink, relax, eat and enjoy some music that you don't
normally hear at, at Tina's. I bet some of them, some of them will probably take you back. Some of
them they've been listening to even this morning. And I'm like, oh my gosh, I haven't heard that in
years. Have you gone into Jake Sorensen's Depeche Mode file?
Oh, I have time. I bet that file does not exist.
there's different files that exist for me.
The dark days of Jake Thornton with the eyeliner.
Yeah.
That definitely never happened.
I'll say that.
There's no recollection of that.
Well, again, you've got Thursday night.
If you look at with something to do and then the golf tournament, the 11th day,
is this year 11 or 12?
That'd be 11.
Year number 11.
So Jake, once again, let him know so that.
And if you have questions, just ask Jake.
I think you can handle it for you.
Dick will probably play in my team this year.
Probably so.
Lodgy promises to play a little bit better than they did last year.
Well,
that's,
it's been a rough year for me in the links.
I can't guarantee that.
I will try my hardest, though.
Anybody else from the station playing?
Not yet.
Okay.
Let's get a time.
Let's get a group.
We'll make it happen.
Yeah, let's get a group in.
Okay.
Thank you for always what you do.
Always.
You guys are consistent.
It's appreciated.
So thank you for doing what you do.
Thank you for having us.
We love being a part of your guys.
community here too.
This is amazing.
We'll throw the break second hour one-on-one coming up here on the ticket.
