You're listening to One-on-One with D.P.
Brought to by Canopy Street Market on 93-7 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com.
Happy Friday to everybody out there.
Happy Goodsense Friday for us here at the Ticket.
Thanks for Goodsense again for supplying us with our delicious.
sandwiches. I'm Jake Bachman, in with Austin Orman, just a few minutes before we close
out the show. Every Husker basketball show today, as well it should be. I always say every
day with Husker basketball is better than a day without it. So here we are. And of course,
you get this short time period where you get a blend Husker basketball, Husker football,
volleyball. I mean, everything's going on. It's a lot of fun. Austin, before we let you go here,
we just got a few minutes. I know you've talked about it. You'll talk about it extensively as well
later on in the day with the Penn State game.
Anything kind of entering your mind here as we get,
are you building up confidence?
Usually throughout the week,
there's more confidence is built.
We've had two weeks to sit on it.
The spread is as interesting of a talking point as anything going into this week.
Yeah, we're at with that.
I don't,
I think that's seven and a half now.
So it's been bought down a little bit.
Coming down a little bit.
But, you know,
I try to defend it on Penn State side,
kind of even arguing,
you know,
opposite what I believe against D.P earlier in the week.
Just to kind of try to get from that angle,
I still don't see a seven and a half.
I said, you know, as I was trying to argue,
it's like, okay, I can kind of throw some points in here,
but there's no way I'd put any money on Tennessee at nine and a half where it was.
And I might.
You might.
And I might.
And it's just they just want to run the ball.
They got two really good running backs.
And I still think that defense is really good.
And I just feel like I've,
seen this movie time and time again from Nebraska. And maybe they prove me wrong if they do
more power to them. But even though Penn State's down to its backup quarterback, I think
Lateef's probably a better player. But I think Penn State has a better idea of what it wants to
do. Maybe I don't believe enough in Emmett Johnson. Maybe I don't believe enough in this Nebraska
defense. Babac, I do see a world where this is like one of those vintage like Wisconsin, Jonathan
Taylor games. You know, 3827, but it wasn't that close. It's 3820 in Nebraska.
out of late touchdown or, you know, 4427 or something like that.
Because I think Penn State can hit the explosives.
I really do.
I don't think Nebraska has solved that necessarily.
Is there a path for Nebraska?
Absolutely there is.
But I think this will be, with no disrespect to Iowa,
I still think Penn State's got the dues on the defensive side of the ball.
And I don't know how much I fully embodied into trusting Nebraska's coaches to
be creative enough consistently
to coach around
whatever limitations they have.
Maybe I need to buy into Nebraska.
Maybe this team is better
than I think it is.
But from the numbers I look at
or 10 games into the year,
at some point you are who you are.
I think this is a game
that Penn State pretty comfortably rushes
for 200 yards.
I think this is a game that T.J. Lateef ends
less than 50% completion,
probably a no-show from a receiver or two.
I think there are a couple sacks given up.
Maybe a bad decision.
Maybe this is the turnover
for T.J. Lateef that ends up killing Nebraska.
Or maybe they go on the road and like, hey, you know,
look at this scrub, this dweeb sitting in the middle of the studio talking about.
He just knows what he's talking about.
We got nothing to lose.
We got everything to gain.
This is a Penn State team that, you know,
we have all these ties to who's going to be really fun for this coaching staff
to kind of go back home to a lot of their roots and win in front of friends and family.
I don't know.
My gut tells me Penn State wins.
It kind of keeps Nebraska at arm's length.
My gut tells me Nebraska comes out a little.
little rusty. Man, Nebraska comes out, excited, fired up and get out to a 14-0
and lead like Michigan State. I don't think this Penn State team's built to play from behind
like that. So there's certainly a path for Nebraska. I'm just not betting on it right now.
Well, there's one man's thought. So it's Penn State more difficult in your mind than Iowa
at home. Different kinds of difficult. Yeah. But either way, going to be difficult. But we'll
see, Nebraska obviously could win both. Good win, could lose both. Could split them. Either way,
It will be a ride for Nebraska fans as we go through it.
That's the end of one-on-one.
Adam Kerker coming up in studio next year, 93-7 the tickets.
