Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to One-on-One with DP. Presented by Beatrice Bakery on 93-7 The Ticket and The Ticket FM.com. Welcome back, final segment. One-on-one, Rashon Jackson, is on the way. He is on the way. We'll see how he's feeling. I was supposed to have a procedure. I'm moving it to next Tuesday.
Starting point is 00:00:37 I got some other stuff to take care of today. So we'll do that, and then I'll head down to whether. permitting, head down to Haymarket and watch some baseball and softball. It is not looking promising. It does not look. I just, how are we deceived on the web? It told us it was going to be 84 and sunny.
Starting point is 00:00:54 And now it's not 84 and sunny. It's going to be cloudy. It's cloudy and 54. The thing is going to reach 91. And windy. And then it's going to rain. So 4 o'clock is first pitch for the first game for softball. It's going to be 86 and wind.
Starting point is 00:01:11 windy. Six o'clock is pitch for baseball and softball second game. It's going to be 89 and windy. And at seven, a 30% chance of thunderstorms. At eight, a 70% chance of thunderstorms and rain. And it'll be 77 degrees. So it'll just be disgusting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Yeah. I was going to go down to softball. I don't think I will now. I'm crazy. So it was announced that the Nebraska athlete department. We'll continue its commitment to Husker student athletes by developing an Invest Nebraska program, beginning of the 22-23 academic year.
Starting point is 00:01:51 Invest will reward Husker scholarship student athletes for academic performances, success towards graduation and retention. Nebraska student athletes who meet established academic benchmarks will receive $5,980 a year for their academic achievement. We don't know what those achievements are, but we expect. The quote is, we are very proud of a rich history of academic achievement in Nebraska, including leading the nation and academic all-Americans, ranking them among the Big Ten leaders in graduation rates. That is from Trev Alberts, Invest Nebraska will continue our longstanding tradition of supporting
Starting point is 00:02:26 Husker student athletes at the highest level. We look forward to being able to award our student athletes financially for their hard work and success in the classroom. The Invest program is expected to provide approximately $3 million an additional $4,000,000, financial support to Nebraska student athletes beginning in 22, 23. College athletic departments are allowed to provide their students this amount of money each year following the Supreme Court decision NCAA versus Austin. Now, here's a little sauce for you. Most cases, head coaches receive a bonus for said achievements.
Starting point is 00:03:06 They have been. They have been. always have been. But this allowance was passed in 2020. It is now 2022. That is this many years. There's a report coming out on said situations and circumstances. It will give me great joy and pleasure when universities are proactive in doing these
Starting point is 00:03:36 things rather than react. Simplicity. do the right thing because it's the right thing, especially when you have the resources already. It just makes sense. Here's to the people in positions of authority and power doing the right thing because it's the right thing rather than being reactive.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Oh, no, people are going to say mean things. Yeah. Do right by your young people. I'll continue to say that for as long as I have air and a microphone. Do better, everybody, because we can. And we should. So that we can be who we say we are. There's that.
Starting point is 00:04:25 Sean Jackson. Coming up next, here on the ticket.
