Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to One-on-One with D.P. Presented by Beatrice Bakery on 93-7 The Ticket and The Ticketfm.com. I'm sorry that I heard everyone's feelings. Oh, stop it. Where's my song at? You mean? We're not going to start the captain's show off like this. This isn't your show yet.
Starting point is 00:00:25 It's still. Oh, dang. I'm really early. You are. You're the captain now. I guess you're the captain now. It's not your show yet. Well, you got to start yours without.
Starting point is 00:00:37 me where you can let me know because I got a doctor for me. I got a doctor for me. I could have got out. Like I could have got out. Search your show yet. I got out. I got to keep you here, man. Relax. Hey, hey, mute me. No, we're here. Relax.
Starting point is 00:00:50 No, no, this is there. I'm sorry. I heard everybody's feeling. Let me just say this. Eric Crouch is a phenomenal, phenomenal quarterback. What he did with his legs. And you got to, you got to remember, Nebraska was not a past. passing school.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Okay, we ran first through it second. How he won the Heisman? I don't know, but shout out to you, EC. But he won the He won the Heism. I'm not, I will continually repeat. I'm not, I don't want people to get this twisted. I'm a huge crowd fan. I'm not saying he didn't deserve to win the Heism.
Starting point is 00:01:28 I'm not saying he shouldn't have got the Heisman. He had a fantastic season. He had a fantastic career at Nebraska. He was amazing with his legs. but when it comes to the position of quarterback throwing a ball, it was less than stellar. Which I'm okay with this because there are other quarterbacks that fell in line with. I mean, you can go up and down the list.
Starting point is 00:01:48 That was why we were going up and down the list. We're just talking about, I mean, because two, three, four years later, it's Tim Tebow in the same discussion. Although Tim Tebow as a non-thrower, threw the hell out of the ball at Florida. Like those numbers that he put in at Texas and Florida throwing a ball, exceptional. And also I can say this. I've never been in that position. I will never be in that position.
Starting point is 00:02:16 Here's what I don't like. I really and truly feel like this. If you're going to vote on a Heisman, wait until all games are played. Bowl games, all games play, and then you vote on who's the best. That's what the second place guy to Johnny Rogers said. It doesn't make sense. to say, okay, this guy is the best player in college football, but we're going to exclude his last game.
Starting point is 00:02:42 So you can have those discussions about Roger Stalbach. You go back in the day. Right, guys who won up, Hornig was not a thrower. He's listed as a quarterback. It was not a passer. That's not what he did. That's not how he did it all how it was built. That's not how the game was played.
Starting point is 00:02:59 If you wait. Johnny Lujek, that's not how the game was played back then. If you wait until after bowl games, how many Heisman winners, right, current Heisman winners don't end up winning their husbands. Well, there was a long run. I'm old enough to remember that there's a long run of Heisman winners who won the award and then through an absolute bomb in the... Oh, yeah, the Heisman curse.
Starting point is 00:03:20 There is. It was actually a thing. So we understood that through that. And we were wrong. We mentioned Andrew Luck, not. winning it. He didn't win it the year we were talking about with Stanford. Remember we were talking about Stanford court works? He won. Did he? Luck won it in
Starting point is 00:03:39 2012. No, RG3 won. No, this is what we're talking about. Let's go through all the folks. RG3 won it. Beat him out. Andrew Luck was the first overall pick. And they said the reason why RG3 won it was what he did on the ground. Yeah. Because that was the big
Starting point is 00:03:57 argument because RG3, Baylor wasn't in the National Championship picture at all. They played in a decent bowl. They played in. They played in a December 29th bowl game. It was earlier. They played Washington. And that game was phenomenal.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Yeah. Yeah. Well, it again, as it all plays out. We were just going down memory road and memory lane and that memory lane. And go in many, Repertent. Go ahead. Do your thing. Right.
Starting point is 00:04:26 And they said, so, I mean, Kent asked the question before we go. He says, would you rather have Crouch win it or David Carr, who threw for 46 TDs that year. And the answer still would have been Eric Crouch. Croucher? The crowdster. Listen, man, he was phenomenal with his legs. Like I said, I'm not saying a quarterback.
Starting point is 00:04:44 Like I'm saying, I'm not saying he didn't deserve to win the high's been. I just did not. I did not know those were his passing stats. But they did that to Michael Vick, and I felt the same way. Michael Vick, who almost single-handly took Florida State to the woodshed. That's true. But they didn't do it for that very reason. I think it was Eric Cousin' them size 16.
Starting point is 00:04:59 I'm going to hand it over to you. and get on out of here. And we go handle my personal business and I will talk to you guys. I'll be around later today with volleyball. 6 o'clock. Hang out with me, Lexi, and Ali.
