Starting point is 00:00:00 Back to one-on-one with D.P. Sponsored by the Downtown Lincoln Foundation on 93-7, the ticket. What I love about D.C., is that whatever your music tastes is, it is just in D.C. So you literally, at 801.0, 3, you could get the essential. At 834 O.S. Street, you could get Goga. You can get country at 901. Like, that's what DC is. You can get punk right down the street,
Starting point is 00:00:52 bourbon theater right next to it. And the folks who follow 101 is a song from D.C. that they know. Were you able to find it? I can't find it. I don't know where Bach put it. It's in the system somewhere. It might be on the old school. We're also streaming only because
Starting point is 00:01:14 the Royals are on. So maybe it's under there too as well. Yeah, that's, I think that's what the issue is. So the folks who have been around the ticket and have been around one-on-one, they know that during NFL season, when the commanders win, there's a video I post. And it leads with play my city's music. And it is go-go. It's not even, it's go-go music, but it's the commanders' band. It's their marching band. And that's the first marching band in the NFL was the Redskins.
Starting point is 00:01:56 But the marching band still exists. But at the end of the games, when the commanders win, the band plays. And it is a party. It is an absolute party. You can find this, AdiC. A-H-H-D-C. And the commanders ban, the Redskins ban at the time of the video that's there.
Starting point is 00:02:26 Man, they put the thump on. And it is a party. And when I tell you, when I tell you that, again, especially in these times, and last year it was important, I went back. I had taken a break from the commanders. I didn't get along with the previous owner.
Starting point is 00:02:47 Didn't like some of the business that was being done, so I took a break from it. As a matter of fact, I said, I was in the transfer portal. When they got new ownership, Magic Johnson and this crew did an exceptional job of changing some things. And I felt better about it. I felt better about it. And so they had a jersey retirement for Darrell Green. And they invited some pertinent alumni back. I was invited back.
Starting point is 00:03:13 It was the first time I was back at FedEx Field. And hung out with them for four days and was a great thing. But the beauty of it was, no matter what was going on in the country, no matter what was going on in politics around it, for those three hours before, three hours in and three hours after, it was all one. And it was pretty cool. But that's the power of sports.
Starting point is 00:03:39 That's what sports will do for you if it done right. So, So, yeah, Gus, if you're doing that, rare essence, they tore. They tore. So if you go to D.C., trust me on this, you'll be able to find them. Because they play pretty frequently in D.C.
Starting point is 00:03:57 So, yeah, it's, you can always find this. As a fact, in my hometown, they played, Trouble Funk played two weeks ago, about a mile from my mind. Tom's house. So they're around and it's good and good for the but I've said all along a big part of what I miss here in Lincoln
Starting point is 00:04:20 is live music. There's live music and I don't care if it's acoustic. I don't care if it's country. I don't care if it's jazz. I don't care. But being in a space, a shared space with live music, is just healing. It's just healing. And I don't mean like
Starting point is 00:04:38 karaoke live music. I mean people who actually sing. Like who care about seeing. So it's a thing. But can't have everything. Maybe one day. I mean, when I go back to D.C., that's what I, that's, there's nine, nine, ten venues that I can go to any night of the week. And there's a really good band playing. And I, I, again, I, I, I haven't want for much here in, in Lincoln. Live local music, consistent. Local music is the thing I miss. And I keep waiting for people to tell me.
Starting point is 00:05:17 Keep tell me, tell me where to go, where I can find it. But we haven't done yet. All right. It's it for me. I'm going to get out of the way, let Kayla start do her. Bang. Welcome her back to it. I'm pretty sure she's got some, I'd be surprised.
Starting point is 00:05:30 I know her dad loves Gogo music. I don't know if Kayla does. I don't know if Kayla does. I'll say at some point, she asked. I would be stunningly surprised if she did. I'll say she does. Yeah. Like you said, it could be the 1% of it, I think.
Starting point is 00:05:46 She's got some cool vibes. So I would have not. Like, I don't see her as just country music. No. I think she's got some. So we'll ask her, have a good time with it. I will talk to you guys tomorrow. Afternoon.
Starting point is 00:06:01 Stop.
